We were meeting our parents that were camping and already checked in. We had a boat that we planned to park in the front lot. After getting a parking pass, SANDY, the Blonde middle-aged employee that has been mentioned in other reviews met us in the grassy parking area. She was disgusted that she was not aware our party had a boat to park. She informed us having a boat would result in additional costs. We asked if we could transfer clothing and camp chairs to our parents vehicle to take to their campsite and remove the boat from parking and not incur costs. She said if we move any items from one vehicle to another we would be charged. We informed her we would remove the vehicle and boat and park elsewhere as to not incur additional costs. We asked if our time in the parking area had incurred any charges to make sure we didn’t owe anything. She said there were no charges. We pulled the boat from site to park elsewhere.
After boating all day and returning to the site early evening we were informed that I (husband) was not allowed on the property. Reasons stated by SANDY: “I was “ignorant”.” “I “walked” around like I was better than everyone else. Remember I only pulled in, parked, and left. Never walked around any portion of the grounds.” “Left the site at a high rate of speed.” Note we drive a 2004 F-150 with engine issues that does not allow it to gain any measurable speed without a long straight flat run, not possible.
When we returned to the grounds to check in. The notice about myself not being able to enter was communicated. My wife entered the office (wearing her mask as the posted signs stated) and inquired if she was able to enter with herself and our 9 & 4 year old children. SANDY ranted about the #’s 1-3 listed above. When my wife heard her say ignorant, she asked if masks were required and if so, why wasn’t she wearing a mask as stated and who was “ignorant”. She didn’t have an answer other than to say my wife was correct. At that point my wife was added to the do not enter list.
We were not allowed to pick up our clothes and bedding. Our parents had to load our stuff into their vehicle and meet us down the road and transfer our equipment.
This site is not a place to spend $1.00 of your camping funds.
Why this facility does not remove SANDY from her position is a mystery. She has zero customer care expertise and obviously a disgruntled bitter person with no long term thoughts about future customers and the strength of reviews.
I hope you choose a separate camping option when visiting...
Read moreGave this review over a year ago when it was still family owned. See dated update below. The reply left by owners?, they are taking credit for a review, NOT meant for them! JULY 2022- Cant say enough. We have been well accommodated since pulling in. Hubby and I are full-timers and he is working 30min from LM Village. We may be here for a spell so its great we instantly fell in love w/the place. Owner/staff are all pleasant. They have rules, yes. But of course they are in place for best interest of the park. And I found none that would cause me to NOT want to stay here. This park is a 37yr project that is still being added to. That is something to be very proud of, which they are. I will respect & follow park rules bc if it was mine, I'd expect the same. Park is; Gated. There are Biking & hiking trails w/one leading to lake. Pool. Laundry. Mail room... I could go on and on, just visit the site and see for yourself. "Class A" joint! Also, Class C, Travel Trailer, 5th wheels, Park Models, and Destinations. As well as tent camping (primitive) & rental cabins. 😁 *Update Oct 13 2023 I left almost 1 yr to date of arriving. This park is now, NOT the same. Has new corporate owners as of Mar 2023. I kept my fingers crossed for this park, but so far everything I figured would happen, is happening. For one thing, dont just show up and expect to be welcomed by a friendly smile, or get a camp spot and or a rental for a night. Everything apparently is handled online and u receive codes now to enter. There is NEVER anyone in the office when needed, which is still also listed as open daily 9-5. As far as I know now, staff includes 1 on site part-time housekeeper, a cleaning crew thats "called" when needed. 2 full-time & 1 part-time Park Maintenance employees, and I believe an office clerk that comes in maybe twice a week. The warm inviting LMV is gone, replaced by Cold Corporate. Once inside tho and u greet others, youll find the warmth, the heart of the Park. Great poeple. "Good Luck Devin, John, Kim & Les. I know each of yur feelings about the situation, and hope it all wrks out for ea of u. For the guests/Seasonals; my time there was always about the well being of the Park, and I loved every minute of all of it. I enjoyed meeting each and every one of u. I continue to keep my fingers crossed for this Park, that it continues to be what it was for its first 37yrs. Fond memories I...
Read moreWe had so much fun! I needed a break from the real world, but I wanted to he comfortable. And then two daughters decided they needed to go too. (17 and 9) We stayed in one of the Rustic Cabins mid week and had the place to ourselves basically. It's a full RV Village, but I would guess most owners/renters are weekend lake people. Things we loved about the village:pool, playground, basketball, volleyball, dog park area, dog friendly, laundry facility (didn't use it but checked it out and it seemed nice) very clean bath house (no shower in our cabin), clean grounds. Cons: the indoor common areas aren't open mid week so No one to ask question to, didn't know if I needed to pay for wood or ice or where to get it or which way is town your just given a gate code and cabin code and off you go. Another other con, in my opinion, is the presidential candidate flags that are the first thing you see as you round the first corner inside. Especially when you are trying to just get away from reality for a couple of days.
The cabin. Small but perfect. One room with a toilet-closet with a sink. Had a full size bed and the cutest bunk beds ever. As well as a small table and two chairs. Window air-conditioning unit and ceiling fan kept us comfortable during our stay in early June. We had a mini fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. Everything was as described in the listing and we all slept well. Porch swing and picnic table on the deck facing a nice wooded lot. Very unique front door, but it was super cool.
About 10 minutes from actual town but there are two mini marts with most everything you might need. Including hot coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Entrance to Fairfax Beach at Lake Monroe about 2 minutes drive. Clean beach, clean lake, and clean bath house. There is also several miles of hiking trials and a multitude of boat docks and a Four Winds Hotel and marina. Very nice area to wander around and includes a reasturant open to the public.
Great getaway. ...
