I'm terrible with remembering names, but the front desk clerk was very kind and personable especially for it being 2 in the morning. We were at the state fair and planning on traveling rte 66 back towards west Joliet. It was a last minute decision and we knew we would have a difficult time finding a motel at the last minute. We spent 3 hours driving to the fair, and 2 hours before arriving to the fair and 3 hours after attending the fair to find a motel with 2 rooms to sleep after attending the fair and continuing on with our rte 66 roadtrip the next day. We tried booking online, calling and stopping at other motels near Springfield (from 11pm friday night, until we called this hotel, asked if there was any availability and when he said yes, we flew over there!) We found some other hotels to book, only to be told no vacancy when we arrived there..including an owner at a different motel who clearly only had maybe 10 customers at his hotel and tons of vacancy, but was standing outside smoking, telling people no..even to those who had booked online. He turned everyone away with no explanations. There were many customers who had some very unpleasant things to say to him while we were trying to book there as well. Thankfully this business acted professionally. The location was a little further away than we had wanted, but we were so grateful that there was available rooms, that it didnt matter to us, we just backtracked back to where we needed to be the next day. As I stated earlier, I wish we would have called this motel a little sooner so we could get more sleep, but as far as this business, everything was great..Comfortable beds, clean conditions, quiet, AMAZING, GREAT PRICES (thank you for NOT CHARGING TWICE THE PRICE and taking advantage of all the people that attended the state fair in Springfield and us getting rooms at the last minute with no reservations. We plan on traveling again soon for another rte 66 adventure. We have kept your information and will be booking with you again in the next year. My "kids" were happy with the snacks and juice that was provided in the morning before checkout since we had to make up some time going back the way we came from. It kept them satisfied until we could stop for lunch. When I had spoken to the front desk clerk, he had explained why there was no longer a working pool (because of being shut down during covid and never reopened) so that would be THE ONLY "complaint" my daughter had. The kids like to check out the pools at different motels when we stay, but that was NOT a major problem for us whatsoever. As far as any ways to improve this motel, I would suggest considering re-opening the pool and maybe having a bigger breakfast like other chains serve (like eggs, biscuits and gravy, danish, toast/butter or pastries, milk fruits). Which would totally be worth a small increase in the price. But if that doesnt change, that would not be a deal breaker for us. Since covid and the huge inflated prices on everything since then, the number one reason we will definitely come back is because of not double-charging us for last minute check in with no reservation and because other motels were completely booked due to the fair, while other places are price gauging due to losing business for a couple years/inflation... I had already planned on doing a positive google review for your company as well as putting all this positive info on my facebook, as well as all the rte 66 websites where people are always asking for good, clean, inexpensive, over-night places to stay while traveling their rte 66 driving adventures. Im sure you will get a lot more business when I do! Thank you for a pleasant experience!! FIVE stars...
Read moreIt is a two-star hotel, and I shall rate it as a two-star hotel; and as such, it is amazing! I arrived late at night with no booking and only a call to ask for availability (some 40 minutes in advance). It was a weekend, and yet I got a room for less than $70 with taxes for the night I was staying. Some would find the price suspicious, but the stay was very comfortable. Soft bed, hot water, working AC, fridge, and a microwave. All the essentials were in place, and the room was decently clean; there was even a coffeemaker in the room (with a decaf option too, for you freaks). The add-ons like snacks, soft drinks, and laundry costed extra, and were priced somewhat above the average market, but that is to be expected from a hotel. Some of it required cash, but there is an ATM on site. Most notably, the stuff was very friendly. The place is independent for Super 8, and it appears to be that the man who checked me in and out was the owner. His English wasn't perfect (and to be fair, neither was mine), but he was very polite and made sure I had everything I needed. Overall, it was a great experience, with only downsides of a light smell from the bathtub sink and a no password on the free Internet (I deemed it too insecure to check my banking account, and so should you). I really wish it was just some hour closer to Chicago, as it makes for a great rest site before venturing into that metropolitan anthill. Highly recommend!
** Smokers beware (vapes too)! It's a smoke-free facility, and you will be required to place a collateral of $250 until you checkout, which you have to pay if caught smoking. Imo, great policy, if only should be more clear...
Read moreWe have stayed here twice and enjoyed it both times. We're currently trying to find a place in Bloomington to rent, so this was a nice home away from home. However, when we tried to get our usual room tonight, the manager told us our cats made the room stink last time, and there was cat poop on the floor. I do an inspection every time we leave to be sure we don't leave anything behind. And if I seen anything, it would have been cleaned up! He also stated he still hadn't cleaned it, a week after we left! Now, I did notice a smell near the heating unit the last time, but thought it was just me being smell sensitive. It was a musty, dirty smell. Quite honestly, we've dropped a good amount of money here, and apparently are not welcome any more. We tried to be good guests, but I guess we might not be acceptable. The one thing I would like to know is if we're being blamed for the pot smell from the couple next door. Who were so nice as to leave their door open when they left so the Marijuana smell could dissipate down the hall. In spite of this, I have to say, the beds and wifi are excellent. The breakfast leaves a lot...
