I stayed here with my 10 year old son. The shed was FULL of wasps and bugs and had not been cleaned after the last people had stayed in it. After complaining to the owner he sent one of his friends to clean it up. They picked up some of the trash not all of it, swept the main area but missed most of the floor. We drove into town and bought cleaning equipment and supplies and bug killer and cleaned it ourselves. There were several times we needed things but the owner was always gone. The locals told us he was a dug dealer. His pregnant wife was usually around and would try to get him on the phone with no luck. The common shower was so dirty it appeared it had not been cleaned in years. The lights were burned out so I climbed on top of the coke machine and unscrewed a bulb from the hallway ceiling and used it in the shower. The shower floor was not played properly and the water drained into the entire bathroom and there was no much dirt it literally made a thin layer of mud. Our shed "cabin" was next to the septic field which had raw sewage on top of the ground. When we stepped off of the porch we had to walk through piss and crap. We found some plywood in the parking lot and placed it over it so we could walk in and out. Our grille and picnic area was in the center of the septic field ( we moved everything out of there ) NEVER STAY HERE!! SLEEP IN YOUR CAR OR ON IN A DITCH. HONESTLY WE WOULD HAVE LEFT BUT WE NEVER SAW THE OWNER AGAIN. JUDGING FROM HIS FACE AND HIS WIFE'S I WOULD SAY THEY ARE CRYSTAL METH ADDICTS. A TENT IN THE WOODS WULD HAVE BEEN...
Read moreBy far the best resort we have stayed at. My dad and I have ridden the Hatfield and McCoy trails for 3 years and stayed here for 2. We have stayed at twin hollow campground in the past and it’s nowhere near as personable. Twin hollows was basically a hotel where they gave you the keys and sent you off. Pocahontas is the exact opposite. Tony, Melinda and Ben are some of the nicest people you will ever talk to. They will make sure your stay is suited to your liking. Not to mention, Sadie, Willow, and Bailey are super cute and are nice dogs to play with and pet in the lobby. Tony’s guide service is outstanding and will make it fun for everyone. Even if you wreck and your quad is not drivable he will tow it back with plenty of jokes along the way. He knows the trails well and will make sure if they are too difficult for your riding abilities and your UTV/ATV. Fresh hot waffles in the morning are amazing. If you are a fan of mud ask tony to take you on the “wet n muddy” trail. I have a mid size four wheeler and I got stuck twice. No problem though because it was fun. Tony will pull you out with a smile. Personally I would not recommend the Pocahontas trail system to dirt bikers because of the many utvs and quads that could easily take a full size dirtbike off the mountain. Have fun and be safe. Book a cabin at Pocahontas ATV Resort and go have...
Read moreFour couples rented two 2-bedroom cabins for 7 days during mid September. The cabins were clean and spacious. We enjoyed the fire pit every night. The covered porch was great for morning coffee. Free WiFi and really good cell service. Staff was indeed super helpful with information about the trails and places to eat. Very very friendly and welcoming. The store sold t-shirts and sweatshirts, firewood and many ATV repair items. No food, however; not even snacks. Beds were a little squeaky and the queen mattress sank in the center. Everything else was in good condition. Air conditioning worked great (we didn't use the heat). Each room had a ceiling fan too. Sunday afternoon through Thursday afternoon we had the place to ourselves. Many trains throughout the day and night, but we actually enjoyed the sound and they didn't keep anyone awake. You can ride to the trail on the ATVs and there was a gas...
