Attended a wedding solo in mid September and stayed a couple nights at the Pigeon Point Hostel. Iβll preface this review as saying that aside from my marriage I have rarely ever shared a room ... not with family, not in college, etc. So the thought of staying in a hostel was bit concerning. But I have to admit, Iβd stay here again!||First off, the scenery is fantastic. At night there was virtually zero light pollution. I was hoping to see the Milky Way but the full moon was just too bright. Otherwise, the skies were beautiful. At sunrise, the views of the waves crashing into the shore and rocks was just as spectacular. An abundance of harbor seals, pelicans and other sea life made it such a wonderful morning. ||As for accommodations, there were actually quite nice. I was pleasantly surprised. The living room was a great meeting spot for all residents, and the kitchen was well-equipped to cook up what every you would like. ||There was one room with a queen bed, a menβs room with three bunk beds and a womenβs room (I didnβt see in this space but assumed the same as the menβs). There was a single, spacious bathroom with a stool and sink and a separate shower room. Out back was a picnic table overlooking the ocean shore.||As stated before, I went to my visit with some reservations, but left comfortable coming back. For the price, especially for a nightβs stay in Northern California, Pigeon Point canβt be beat.||Note, there isnβt much else near Pigeon Point, so youβll have to drive a few miles for groceries and toiletries. It the drive along beach was worth the time...
Β Β Β Read moreThis is probably the 4th time I have stayed at this hostel, never disappoints. Family visiting from out of state, including 2 school age kids. Our group of 6 stayed in a family room, Seal House room 2. The Point is an incredibly beautiful place, so peaceful, non commercialized, so "Wild California". A nice beach is accessible via a pathway down the cliffside, did some low tide tidepooling, abundant with lil sea creatures, we were the only ones there, watched the sunset, then scrambled back up to our hostel home to prep and eat dinner. The kitchen and living/common areas are generously sized, nicely furnished, the kitchen has everything you need, but no condiments so bring all that. Other guests were courteous and friendly as they wondered in and out of the common areas, but not intrusive into our family time at all. One family shared a xaje they baked with all, our family shared morning coffee and creamer with all (only one coffee pot). Everyone was very respectful and cleaned up after themselves. The Shared bathroom also worked out well, that for me was my only concern. Most guests were out the door by 8 am, we stayed till 11, all were able to take a decent shower and relax while watching the waves through the kitchen window. Do sign up for a 30 min spot at the hot tub, its right on the cliff, dark and star filled skies with crashing waves, pretty incredible. No complaints from this group!! The management here also very friendly and...

What a delightful place to unwind, release, regroup and recharge--whether you're from Madrid or Half Moon Bay! Michael's positive energy raises the bar for other Hostels, and he continues to go above and beyond to make sure your stay is ABSOLUTELY STRESSFREE!!! Joe ALWAYS has a great smile for you and is helpful and efficienct WHEREVER you see him on the property. These TWO guys do a phenomenal job of keeping the flow going in and out of the office, and still take time to chat with you whenever they see you on the property. I've never felt so completely welcome and AT HOME--especially being in the ADA house. Knowing Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel has gone the extra mile to make The Dolphin House FULLY handicapped accessible is a huge bonus: service animals are NOT AN ISSUE at ANY juncture, and the staff allows you to pull your vehicle up to the FRONT DOOR to unload--no schlepping down a 23% grade hill with a cane and a service animal on a leash, only to find the property IS NOT HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE or SAFELY LIT for people with mobility issues or disabilities, like at MONTERRA Point Lighthouse Hostel π π‘
TEN STARS ππππππππππ for Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel. THANKYOU--It just doesn't get ANY BETTER THAN...
