Not for our kids. The campers loved activities and games, they were amazing. The cabin staff, though kind, too young or not qualified to handle group dynamics and conflict resolution effectively. Mainly, for those of you who have kids in a regular bedtime routine, they don’t have lights out until 11pm and awake at 7am (age 9-12 year olds, our kids are usually in bed by 8 with lights out by 9). Camper even asked to go to bed “early”knowing they needed sleep, and was told no. (Husband was a camp counselor, so we understand camp rules etc about groups sticking together, but there is extra staff so it seems when kids are telling you they need sleep, it’s possible to figure it out). It seems like intentional sleep deprivation to get the kids emotional disregulated and “ready” to be saved by Jesus……. Yes, you can write emails to your kids, and the counselor asked me to to support kiddos. I did, and the next day, it was missed/forgotten even when camper asked about it. It seems like it’s an open camp to all with religious elements (we were raised christian) but the campers experienced a lot of judgement in discussion groups, closed minded ideas, and didn’t feel safe or comfortable. This camp feels really evangelical with a specific and narrow perspective. Never thought we would, but ended up picking up a few days early. No one ever contacted us about reasons for leaving early or to simply check in with what happened. Actions speak louder than words, and after giving them 5 days to reach out to us, I called and let them know this: Lack of contact or concern from them as to why we picked up early feels like the campers are just money in the bank to them, with care and concern about the campers going away no matter what circumstances the camper leaves under as soon as kids leave. As a first time overnight camp, we are lucky it didn’t ruin the whole idea of camp. Kids say willing to go back to an overnight camp sometime, but definitely not a religious one, not one with such a late bedtime, and definitely not this one. We have learned a lot through this experience and now have lots of knowledge going forward when looking into other camps. If you are not evangelical christian and your kids aren’t used to consistent lack of...
Read moreI did the snowshoe to dinner event hosted in January and it was AWESOME!!!! Everyone on staff is so sweet, helpful, encouraging and fun! They served a delicious homemade dinner in a very warm tent at the top of our hike (which was beautifully lit with torches along the way). It was fun visiting with other participants. After dinner we moved outside to a big bon fire with comfortable benches around it. From there we could look down on the city lights of Bozeman - the whole scene was beautiful! I highly recommend this event to everyone - it's very kid friendly and...
