I have been going to this resort off and on for the last three years. This resort has 40 seasonal sites for campers or RVs and seven older cabins that are located right along Nokay Lake. This resort is located half way between Mille Lacs Lake and Brainerd, MN. New owners bought the resort in May 2012 and vow to update the cabins and improve the facilities on the resort. Tent camping is not allowed. ||||Currently there are a few seasonal sites still available for this year and I would encourage anyone looking for a seasonal lot to check out this resort. The seasonal campers are very friendly and willing to lend you a hand, show you the good fishing spots, and offer you a cold beverage at their campfire. As I indicated earlier, the cabins are older, but don't let that discourage you from spending some time here unless you are looking for 5 star ammenities. The cabins have a beautiful view of the lake which is right out your front door. Again, they are basic cabins, but how much time do you plan to spend in the cabin? There are no TVs in the cabins and no phones. It sounds like heaven to me. ||||There is a game room onsite, but the last time I went in there there wasn't a lot of games available. The owner did tell me just this past week he will have the pool table up and running shortly and plans on adding to the available games. This seemed like a priority to him. The new owners have started selling ice cream treats, ice, common groceries, etc., at the lodge which is a nice improvement. The boats they have to rent are common northwoods fishing boats, but they do have at least one very nice pontoon to rent. ||||Nokay Lake is a very clear 700 acre-ish lake with a public boat landing just to the north of the resort. What I like about the lake is that there aren't too many boats on it at any given time. You can fish on it all day long and not feel the effects of a hundred ski boats running around the lake. I say this even though I own a ski boat, but love to do a lot of fishing. The lake has a decent amount of walleyes, sunfish, crappies, rock bass, largemouth bass, and northern pike. If you are looking for trophy walleye Mille Lacs Lake isn't far down the road and is known as an excellent walleye lake. ||||In summary, the new owners are great and have big plans for this resort. If you enjoy time around a campfire, fishing and swimming in a crystal clear lake, hearing loons calling each other, and spending time with your family then you should check this place out. If you want to pamper your wife with spa treatments, eat gourmet food, lounge in the heated pool, and have staff call on your every need then I recommend you go to Vegas. Go up north and enjoy nature. Your kids will...
Read moreThe above review is spot on! The new owners of Twin Oaks, (Paul and Veta), are bye far the best people to have blessed this location. Not only are they always willing to help you feel right at home, their outgoingness and dedication to keeping Twin Oaks a fun family establishment is easily seen bye all! The fishing is great here and with little recreation traffic and pleanty of mouths biting your bait; loosing track of time here is no task to even the novice of fisherman(lady):-) ||Overall I would have to say that this location is truly a beautiful and remarkable place. Perfect for that true, "Minnesota Get Away".....and even your dogs are welcomed with open arms. Hope you seriously check this place out. Good luck...
Read moreWe will be making this place our yearly cabin destination. Paul is so kind and the cabins are very nice. The boat rental prices are manageable and there’s enough to do, even on rainy days, that you don’t have to leave. The lake is beautiful with plenty of wildlife. I hesitated writing this because I don’t want to reveal this gem. Perfect for family reunions and kids! My son left his lovey and Paul mailed it the following business day. Thank you for the memories Twin...
