During initial communication, the owners were very helpful and seemed to be very flexible in terms of allowing us time to setup for the reception the morning before the day of the reception. This turned into telling us that a bride had booked the venue that week, and didn't want us there. Fine, we understood we hadn't paid for that full day before and it was a courtesy to be allowed to setup. However, later that evening, we checked into see if if would be ok to setup later that night. The owner, Mary Jo, verbally said over the phone this would be alright around 8pm. BIG MISTAKE. When the 6 of us showed up at 8pm the night before to setup per our discussion with Mary JO, she directed us to walk towards the tent we had paid for and advised us to avoid the mud. However, there was a wedding party STILL going on. The bride and her mother were furious, and came up to us to demand that we leave. additionally, around 40 drunk guests were yelling "get out". Mary Jo and her husband proceeded to throw us under the bus and tell us that they had never told us we were ok to come set up (which clearly we wouldn't have had they not told us it was ok about an hour prior to us driving out). We left, to the cheers of 40 drunk people and an extremely irate bride and mother. Mary Jo and her husband, instead of addressing the fact that they had made a mistake and overestimated the stay of the current wedding, allowed my sister to take verbal abuse from the current guests without ever apologizing for her mistake.
The Day of the reception. As if our experience could have been any weirder given the previous day. Mary Jo followed the bride around to the point of getting in the wedding photographers way. It was extremely uncomfortable to have to go up and ask her to leave the bride alone. Instead of apologizng, she insisted that she needed facebook pictures for her business. While the bride had stated she was fine with a few pictures being taken for the event, we had no idea that the owners assumed this meant they could literally follow around the wedding party and block shots from the ACTUAL wedding photographer all day.
The owners were extremely odd about spaces within the castle. For example, catering had set up in the commercial kitchen. After packing up and leaving a few hours later, the wedding party went to cut the cake. We had no forks, so we entered the kitchen to grab some plastic forks. Doug, one of the owners, came out and started passive aggressively stating that he couldn't believe how inconsiderate we were being entering their living space and that we should have had the decency to knock. I felt terrible, began apologizing over and over, and explained that I had been under the impression the kitchen was open since catering had used it, there were no signs stating otherwise, and the door wasn't locked. He continued to make angry remarks, leading to a very awkward experience despite my attempts to apologize.
At the end of the day, while the bridesmaids and family members were going through to clean up the basement we had used to get ready, Doug followed us around watching us pick up every item/hygiene/dresses/ etc. etc. It was very uncomfortable since it was the bridesmaid dressing room and he could clearly see from outside the room that we were attempting to clean. Instead, he came in and stood there watching us until we left the room.
All in all, while the venue is beautiful and I'm sure the B&B experience is amazing, the couple is absolutely unqualified to act as wedding venue or reception hosts. They were rude, unorganized, and no where to be found when questions arose the day of the reception. Don't book this venue unless you are prepared to deal with mood swings and change in plans from Mary Jo and Doug. Additionally, if you do choose to go forward, make sure you get every single detail in writing, no matter how trivial, because if a better opportunity pops up Mary Jo and Doug will throw you...

The abundance of medieval clothes available for guests to try on was a fantastic touch. Donning these exquisite garments allowed me and my significant other to fully immerse ourselves in the spirit of the era, enhancing the overall experience and making us feel like characters in a medieval tale.
The castle-like architecture of the bed and breakfast was awe-inspiring, creating a sense of grandeur and romance. The interior decor was tastefully designed, with period-inspired furnishings and decor that further added to the medieval charm. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and well-appointed, providing a cozy and inviting retreat after a day of adventure.
