Want to be indoctrinated over the weekend? Look no further! Every single facet of this place is deeply rooted in religion. Every band they have for "your entertainment " sings only about God and their religion. Which may appeal to certain folks. No djs. No trick or treating. No halloween decorating allowed. No dance partys typical of campgrounds of this caliber. If its not centered in Amish/menonite belief systems, you can forget about it and any other traditional campground fun activities. New owners have turned this once amazing fun and low key place into a church where their beliefs are being pushed onto every weekender and even seasonals. Seasonals are leaving by the truckload as they were given hardly any notice at all that they must vacate their sites some have been occupying for 30+ years. They also are having to remove structures that have been built and paid for by seasonals, some of which cost thousands of dollars. They are being told they must remove promptly and new owners gave them a deadline AND a very impossible to meet time window to have removed. Thousands of dollars in the trash with zero offers to reimburse losses for the people who built and maintained these sites for decades. Not to mention the cost for sites being tripled! New owners are intentionally running out seasonals to make way for MORE extremely overpriced cabins to rent out to unknowing families at the rate of 200 and up per night in a very bare bones campground. (Pool and playground) are the only amenities they have to offer. Extinguishing any and all history many generations of family's have had for the almighty dollar. If you love God and think this place is for you, please do not forget greed and gluttony are sins as well, and these people are pig bellied investors and nothing more. Do not be fooled! I'd stay far away from this place if for no other reason than morality! If these things appeal to you, than you found the right spot!
Edited to add: the website mentions each site having "potable" water. My advice, spray some in a bucket. About 3 or 4 inches worth. You'll notice an interesting dark brown color. Not sure if that is something I'd drink. Literally zero seasonals drink or cool with the water there and never have. Dont do it. Also, the sites have not changed an ounce but the price tripled because the new owners bought the campground for WAY over asking price and are now trying to recover the loss. Don't be a fool and pay the new prices. If you must go, demand 2023s prices since the non seasonal sites have not been upgraded in any way shape or form and the new prices are simply greed with no other purpose. The new owners have blocked and deleted all the seasonals (myself included) from their Facebook page as they don't want the world to know the truth so I had to come back here again to update. We've been coming here since my daughter was 4, and since my son was born. All thrown away for pure greed. Owners are disgusting humans and disgraceful "christians". They did this after assuring everyone all season that nothing would change for us seasonals. I wish them nothing but failure and bankruptcy in the future when people realize how overpriced this now strange and unfamiliar...
Β Β Β Read moreI hate to give a great review because I donβt want to have this place sold out for my next visit!!! All I can say is WOW!!! From booking this place to checking out was great! What a spot & what a cabin!! All was so much better than I thought it was going to be. The cabin was SPOTLESS!!!! Iβve NEVER BEEN IN ANY HOTEL ROOM that was this clean!! It was so clean, I actually started to look for things like even dust in corners as I laughed at the situation. It almost bothered me that even though they are dog friendly, they charge $75 a day for the dog but also charge an $85 cleaning fee regardless. Itβs not like they come & clean every day. They have to clean/sweep up the place either way, so itβs a bit pricey at that for a week, never mind a few days if you bring a pet. My pets are trained service animals and Iβd understand that you are responsible for any major cleaning or damage that can incur but just basically to sit outside or go on a car ride all day then sleep at night in their own dog bed is again a bit pricey for a daily charge. Some hotels charge the same price for the whole visit, not each day. Anyway, that being said, back to the humans- The bed was very comfy, all the bathroom products were quality products, small kitchen, TVS in LR & BRβ¦. Had a great time sitting by the fire pit. What a relaxing few days!! Some of the cabins as we drove around felt a bit on top of each other which can take away from relaxing a bit depending on your situation but again, it is a resort campsite, not you alone in the woods. A few things to do in the area if you are into things like that or just to relax is great. Not sure what other reviews were talking about w/ religion being thrown in your faceβ¦. Not at all did I see or feel that but again, maybe ppl need some religion in their lives!! lolβ¦. (There was a Bible on the nightstand which Iβm good with!!) Iβd definitely be back regardless if they modify the pet fee or not but would look forward to the next visit if they keep on top of how clean things were IN the cabin. Again, was shockedβ¦. I know the cabins are new but I guess with those cleaning fees, I wouldnβt expect anything different. Canβt wait to go back again!! Thanks for a few great days. (PS: If u are a pet person or not, watch out for land mines- Being a pet person I did pick up a few I found from previous visitors that those are the ppl that ruin it for good ones!!! Donβt be a (foul word here) and PICK UP AFTER YOUR PET!!! - It was someone with a little dog that probably let them just run outside quick or that doesnβt keep an eye on them as they sat around the fire pitβ¦.. Donβt be...
Β Β Β Read moreGoing to be saying goodbye to RedRun campground, with this being my last season. While this campground was once a place to escape well into my adult years, it was also a place that showed me my second family. I was hoping to have my son grow here as well and breaking the news to him will be one of the hardest parts.
While money can make RedRun as good as money can... the people made this a place worth staying.
The seasonals started camping at RedRun, as weekenders, in the 2000s. Some even earlier. We've stayed through 3 other owners and volunteered our time, money, and assistance to RedRun and the campers. The seasonals assisted with towing weekenders during floods, coordinating and working the haunted houses, laying down the foundation for the lake sites, preforming cleanup of the lake that everyone loves, and so much more.
The seasonals made friends with the neighboring Mennonites who also assisted RedRun out of the kindness of their hearts. Those same Mennonites renting land to RedRun to accommodate the new owners. Even now, they are assisting us disassemble our second homes.
RedRun was the meeting point of so many important people in our lives. Friends, like family, that celebrated birthdays, weddings, new children, and even mourning of those no longer with us. Compassionate and humble people.
We were provided, sooner than anticipated on 9/21/24, with the attached letter of what is to come for the 2025 season. Within, we were notified that the price was to increase 4000$ than the previous year. That we are to remove everything from our sites of over 20 years. Decking, roofs, storage fixtures, stone landscape, flag poles, decor, furniture, plants, and our trailers... thousands of dollars worth of items to be disassemble. Some trailers that have not been moved since being placed at their site. Some needing new tires, tags, and hired towing to remove. All this, while being asked to politely do so on Monday - Thursday, 11am - 4pm , as to not disrupt the other campers. Many, if not all of us, residing out of state, and maintaining full time jobs.
Even if we could comply with the unreaslistic price increase, the short notice of eviction, and the weekday removal of property... we are not garunteed seasonal placement at our previous site... or any site...
RedRun will pass this off as a group of sesonals that 'Don't like change'. But it's not the change that forced us into leaving, it is the lack of consideration, communication, and compassion....
