My family has been coming to this campground for over 30 years. The current owners, Klint and Wendy, are absolutely ideal! We are avid campers and enjoy traveling around, but we always come back to Sill's Family Campground. The sites are updated and in great condition, the bathroom / shower / laundry / office facility was recently rebuilt brand new (around 2019). There is also a newer pavilion, roughly 30x70 in size where there are frequent bingo games (every Friday evening), and live bands almost every Saturday night. Halloween weekends in October are a blast, with site decorating contests, haunted hayrides, and trick-or-treat times for the kids to go from site to site for candy. As mentioned, Klint and Wendy are fantastic hosts, and will go above and beyond to see that your needs are met. For example, my parents recently camped there for a long weekend. Upon leaving Sunday morning for home, they got approximately 3 miles from the campground and a wheel almost came completely off of the camper. Being friends with Klint for many years, they called him up and explained what happened and he immediately dropped everything, drove out to where they broke down, and helped them remove the wheel the rest of the way from the camper and helped cripple it back to the campground. He then not only put the camper in a campsite for the week, but he even personally fixed the problem (wheel bearings, brake assembly, even new leaf springs were needed) with his personal mechanic, and had my parents ready to go in less than a week! Never before have we encountered such kindness and helpfulness from campground owners! You will not go wrong staying at Sill's Family Campground, because as the name states - it is truly a family campground; not just oriented towards families to have fun, but run by a family of wonderful, caring, friendly, funny individuals who still believe in going the extra mile to accommodate their guests and literally treat you like family! Thank you Klint, Wendy, and your entire family for the fun and help that we always...
Read moreFirst, I would like to say, I stayed here a couple of years ago and hopefully they have resolved some of the issues I have included in my review. This was the first place I ever stayed when I picked up my very first camper. The day I pulled in the staff was rude and made fun of me for not having very much knowledge about my camper. The owner was very aggressive and instead of calmly talking to us about issues he would just yell, threaten and insult us. In fact, it was made pretty clear to me when I first got there, that I was not a "regular" camper there and if there were any "problems" he would kick me out at anytime. This made me feel uncomfortable to invite anyone over or even leave my camper.
The sites are really close together, I had a bus parked right behind me the entire time with not much room between the sites either. The lone tree that sat between the campsites was dead and provided no shade. The WiFi was terrible and the staff keeps the password like it's a national secret. I saw kids at the office one day asking for the WiFi password. The staff member gave it to them and proceeded to tell them they couldn't stream videos, they couldn't play games, or basically anything else you would use your tablet for. While the bathrooms were clean, they needed a serious remodel. The walls were crumbling, with paper towels shoved in holes and the hot water was iffy at best. The shower's didn't even have nobs, just a button to turn the water on like you were in a rest stop bathroom on the turnpike. I would never recommend...
Read moreStayed here from 10-27, through 11-27-18. I enjoyed the location, and the park was quiet. It really doesnt have any amenities to speak of. Im knocking off three stars for the following reasons: Water quality is horrendous, and this is not something that normally bothers me, I grew up in Fl, on well water with sulpher and drank from a garden hose. This water is full of iron and will stain your camper. It doesnt help that the parks risers are made from what looked to be galvanized electrical conduit, they are even labeled "non potable water". The electric rate is astoundingly high. During my 1 month visit, I was in my RV only 20 days, 7 days home in Fl for Thanksgiving and 3 days in Allegheny national forrest. I do not use the electric water heater, and rarely use my TV, since it was winter the A.C. was also, always off. In 20 days the bill racked up to a whopping $125, along with 120 lbs of LP gas for a total utility cost of $205. The LP gas is on the high end of fair, but they are also accommodating and deliver it so its acceptable. Our site was a constant muddy mess. It seemed that the sites in our are were somewhat newer and while there was gravel on the sites, it was never compacted properly. Nothing was so bad I wouldn't return, and i wouldnt tell others not to go, but it definitely had its faults and I was...
