I have been a seasonal (I own a park model at the resort, but not the land) at this campground for seven years, and was a tent camper prior to that. When we first started coming, this campground was pristine, there were significant amenities (including year round access), and the price was reasonable. Unfortunately, the company that bought the resort not long before we became seasonals started making changes along the way. First they renamed the resort, which, although sad, was understandable. However, they eventually started to cut back on funding to the resort, while significantly increasing the price. Their cutbacks resulted in:||- Closing down the game room and jamming it into the cafe, and then cut back hours at the cafe. ||- Closing the slushee bar they had at the pool for kids.||- The pool deck wearing down to the point where it was painful to even step on the deck and then just pouring cement over the previous stone.||- Cutbacks on staff at the pool, resulting in pools that are often bug and leaf filled, along with pool scum along the pool walls.||- Promise of Wifi on the website and in your contract with no working Wifi available.||- Charging double the price for stone deliveries that the unit owner is required to spread when the company owns the land!||- Significant closure times of various pools and the hot tub, including the summer months.||- Multiple electrical outages.||- Infrastructure issues with water main breaks and repeated water shut-offs (no communication or warning beforehand and no updates when complete).||- Closure of the previous access to check on your camper during the winter months.||- And most significant, not cutting down multiple, dangerous, dead trees after repeated requests which have led to car, trailer, property and park model damages.||||The worst part of all of this is as these problems piled up, the company raised prices significantly, with most seasonal fees now sitting around $7,500 for only 7 months of access versus the previous 12 months at roughly $5,000. This in conjunction with new hidden fees including an “electric meter check” and a “$1,000 transfer fee” when it used to be free to sell your unit. They have done all of this while repeatedly ignoring requests for explanations on the price hikes, hidden fees, cut back of amenities and infrastructure issues. ||||It is heartbreaking to me for the other people at this resort, as well as the campground employees, that at this point, due to the continued significant fee increases with no explanation or even responses from the corporate office along with the multiple issues at the campground due to corporates funding cuts, that I can’t even recommend renting here for a weekend, let alone buying a place and...

I’m gonna start off with we have been camping here for years !!! We absolutely love this place !!! However this time was very different from the rest !!! Don’t know if it new ppl running it or new staff which includes a lot of teenagers!!! I rented two rentals and two golf carts and had my Reservations in for months !!! The nite we got one of the rentals had no hot water , so my family using the other rental to take showers I complained at office but nothing was done , and the one gold cart was messing up too , so sat morning comes and no one fixed the hot water n the golf cart was still acting up I had went to office again and nothing , well sun morning I had enough with the golf cart and went to office with and a teenager asked me a bunch of questions like I didn’t know what I was doing , and in the middle of it she tells me they got plenty of new golf carts a month ago with lights so u can drive at nite ( the ones I had n payed for I. Adavance had no lights and were not allowed to be driven after dark) so I’m like really why weren’t we told , they said the put up on social media ( not everyone gets on social media and they should have went by who payed first) smh so anyway I was given another golf cart and this one was same way I literally had to go back up n change that one too , n they offered me my money for ONE DAY or another rental, I told them I want the golf cart n I didn’t want the money , and when I asked to speak to a management I was questioned, and finally When management came to talk to me he was same way as the teenager!!! Hot water was never fixed and after the 3rd golf cart we got it started to rain !!! And I have called and spoke to someone else I think or might have been same man from first time , they said all they can do is make sure none of this happens again !!! That doesn’t fix anything at all exp after all the money I spent on two rentals n two golf carts !! Something changed with this place !!! Oh and the gnome cafe I waited 30 mins for mozzarella sticks because they put two new ppl in that day , n there was no air conditioned n it was hot especially Which fryers n grill on smh two of the cooks where soaked in there own sweat there lucky they nothing happened to them !!! I’m very disappointed in this place , especially after not offering anything to fix situation not even ice cream or free golf cart rental!! Also all 4 golf carts had holes n tears in the seats but we still have to pay the regular price and my sister got yelled at by a staff member for having two many kids on golf cart ,(6) even after they knew mine...

I previously wrote a review on LIW back in June and we decided to stay here again. This time we invited one of our friends and her little one. We knew our boys (13 months old and her 2 year old) would enjoy the parks and we really were looking forward to some pool time.

I figured the water would be pretty warm due to the 90 degree weather we had for the past week. Nope, again the water was very cold! I understand that the pool is heated by solar panels as the campground is trying to be “environmentally friendly”. That is great, but I was there to enjoy the amenities that I just paid for, including the pools! We did notice that the “indoor” pool (basically a pool with a roof and opened sides) was the warmest of all the pools, explainable because the hot tub is connected to the pool. When we were in this pool, a seasonal camper was quick to tell us we could not be in this pool since our boys were not potty trained. Why would you not heat the kiddie pools to a temperature suitable to swim/play in? If my child’s lips are turning blue and the weather temp that day was 89 degrees, then clearly the water was not heated to an ideal temperature.

We were not bothered by the quarry or the race track during our stay. Maybe we are good at blocking it out or since we were in the 160 area the trees dampened the sound. The one noise that kept me awake every night was a barking dog. The bark sounded like a shepherd or similar size dog. We called the front desk before they closed one evening and complained. The gentleman said he would patrol the campground in our area, but based on where we said the sound was coming from, he believed it belonged to someone outside the campground up the road. He said they have had numerous complaints and really there is nothing they can do. It seemed like the owner put the dog out around 10pm and the dog did not stop barking until 2:30am every time, probably when someone came home and let him in. Upon our trip back to the campground we did notice that Channel 2 (their activity channel) was updated with current information and you could read it without it disappearing immediately.

Since this was our second trip back and again we could not enjoy the pool, we probably will not be returning. I will stay at one of the campgrounds down the road for less money and a real heated pool so my son can enjoy playing in the water. I hope anyone who is looking at LIW to visit and really wants to use the pool, that they take my review and others on here seriously regarding the temp...

My friend Matt told me about this place after I asked him to recommend a great family campground. Compared to the previous campground that I visited since I was a teenager, Lake In Wood has every amenity I could imagine and more. The place was very clean and well-organized. Once we entered the campgrounds, we were greeted with a mini-golf course, large playground, and a lake with paddle boats. We checked in at a large building that housed the office, general store, and arcade on the first floor with a fitness room and theater on the second floor. The general store served free coffee and several flavors of ice cream that were rotated on a daily basis. A lot of attention to detail was evident at this campground. The overall theme was "gnomes". There were gnome statues everything, gnome dolls available at the gift shop, and even gnome homes, which were small homes that could be rented out. On the surface, this campground was both an RV park with tent spaces available. However, very fun and interesting "cabins" could be rented out on a nightly basis including a real train caboose, tipis, yurts, and a real tree house complete with built-in air-conditioning. My family and I opted for tent camping since I wanted to rough it and connect with nature. Our camping space had fresh water, electric, and cable hookups. This resort also had a cafe where one can purchase various fast food items. There was a pool area that consisted of two pools, one wading pool for small children and one larger one for teens and adults. Each of these pools had an hourglass shape and had a small footbridge one could cross at the narrowest sections. At the far end of the adult pool was a hot tub. Only those 18 and over could enter. There was a whole list of events going on at this campground the weekend we went including a pig roast, bingo games, and family laser tag. Since getting around the entire complex requires a lot of walking, golf carts were available to rent to get around. There's also wifi service and a fitness course sprawled throughout the complex. You could tell that the owners of this place treat Lake In Wood RV Resort as a second home due to the prevalance of many whimsical statues and totem poles of various animals found everywhere you go. Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you that this campground has a bunch of pet goats that you could come visit. I would be hard-pressed to find a resort campground better than this one.

UPDATE: Stayed here August 1st through August 8th, 2018- site 170. Site was so un-level that we needed a step stool to get onto the first step into the camper. Lovely get away with lots of greenery. Just wish that the new owners would consider hiring people specifically to keep the facilities a tad more clean instead of just cleaning the toilets, maybe brush out the shower stalls of bugs and spiders and get the cob webs off of everything. Pool was nice and cared for. The Gnome Cafe still has goofy hours. And the Splash Bar is apparently only open on Sundays, which means you can buy a kids sized slushie from a very bored, can't be bothered person behind the swim up bar. The pamphlet that they give you when you check in has hours for all of the facilities on it but the actual hours of the facilities are posted differently on the doors. Kind of confusing. Quarry noise still drones on all day until late in the evening. Some of the paved areas are torn up and the horse-shoe pits, 9 hole mini golf and tranquility garden could use some attention. All in all still a nice place to visit. Great kiddie pool and adult pool. Staying here July 17 - July 21 2017 site 116. Beautiful grounds, very clean and well kept. Definitely a great place if you have younger kids. Dog friendly areas. Great little store with lots of 'I forgot' items. The gnome theme everywhere is adorable and magical to the younger crowd. Great little mini golf and the pool was very clean. Didn't eat at the cafe (odd hrs) but overheard someone talking about how good the food was. Lovely lake (more of a pond) for water recreation and fishing. Bathrooms and showers are very clean. I can't get over how beautiful the grounds are. The seasonal campers and the weekend warriors all seem to be very friendly and take care of their sites. There's also some very interesting sites to stay at: The tree house, the bus, the train... 10/10 So far, would definitely stay again. My only complaint, and it isn't even the campground... Is the noise pollution from the quarry nearby. Goes from 7-8 or 9 every day. Sounds like grinding and back up alarms.

I'll start with the good things. The pool area was nice, especially for children; they have a nice assortment of video games in the arcade; the store is open until 9pm; the mini golf was $2 per child, $2.50 per adult; paddle boats are available for a fee. We stayed on the covered wagon. It was musty and dirty, and the air blowing out of the A/C was musty smelling. I noticed debris flying out of the A/C vents, which was likelt due to the years worth of dust, pollen, and whatever other particulate matter gets sucked into the unit. I took off the front of the unit to see how the filter looked and I was disgusted. I don't think the filter had been changed in years. I cleaned off the output vents and my fingers were black with whatever had collected over the years.I took the filter to the registration desk and asked to have a new filter placed into the A/C unit which they did. In addition to the A/C nastiness, there were cobwebs all over the lights and in the corners of the room. The fridge had compartments for items on the door, but the door racks that prevents your liter of soda from falling off the door were missing. How can you put drinks or condiments on the fridge door when those rack bars are missing? We stayed with about 12 other families in various units throughout the campground and most were dated, full of ants, mold, and mustiness. The cabins are NOT CHEAP, so one would think you would get a clean, updated accommodation, but that wasn't the case. The Nuthatch ADA cabin had no utensils, plates, cups, or anything. It was bare bones. All of the units require you to bring your own towels, pillows, and bed linens. The Hen House was $300 per night and that's with no linens or towels or soap or anything. It's a bit ridiculous. I will not be returning to this campground ever. I will say though that the staff were all incredibly friendly and as accommodating as they could be, and they had a number of fun activities for kids, but the upkeep of the accommodations was poor.
