I booked the site for 2 camping cabins for 2 nights. I paid 1/2 up front and planned to pay the 2nd half upon arrival (as I wasn't told to expect any different) When I arrived I went into the office to "check in" and pay and I was told my keys were in a drop box. I asked about paying the remaining balance and was told it was already charged to my card and was charged days prior to my arrival (A charge which was unauthorized as I wasn't planning to pay with that account upon arrival, and no mention of pre charging when I spoke with Dale on the phone. I agree that the camp sites are very close together, there are no areas around the cabins to enjoy any outside activities- corn hole, etc.) near the cabins. My parents are older and not interested in hiking. While we had planned on staying 2 nights, our home town experienced severe weather which caused 16,000 people to be without power with many homes and properties damaged by fallen trees. My Dad called Dale and asked if we could leave due to the emergency situation and get a refund, he was told we could and to let him know if everything was OK at home. After arriving home to find some trees down and to losing all the food in our Refrigerators due to power outages and the front door of my house blown open, it was nice to know I was going to get my 197.14 refunded to help with food replacement costs, etc.....I checked my account Monday and didn't see any activity and called Dale to see if the refund had been submitted. I wasn't told until Tuesday that they wouldn't be refunding my money as they weren't able to rent the cabins. This is horrible business. 1st off, the rental agreement wasn't provided until check in and monies already charged without authorization, 2nd I wasn't told the refund would be dependent on re-rental. Had this been the case at least one of us would have stayed the remaining night while the other family went home to do damage assessments to our homes. I will be disputing the charge with my bank, I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and I will be putting this review on all review sites. This is the last thing we needed after dealing with a natural disaster. **Dale only advised that we could stay another night- however, I do not have any plans to ever return to this small campsite that has unfriendly staff that keeps money that was promised to...
Read moreIf I could give this place a 0 I would. My family paid to stay Saturday night and camp, fish and use the pool. The rate was very reasonable and were excited that we had found a place so nice and peaceful. We were already talking about our next trip there. Sunday morning(father's day) a maintenance man or employee came around and stopped to say hello and my son ask him how much more needed to be paid to fish and swim for the day. The man said "don't worry about it, just enjoy your father's day" we thanked him and lit our grill around 1130 or so. At 1230 the owner Dale Owen came and told us that we had to go because we hadn't paid. My son told him that his employee had said we didn't need to pay additional to stay. He told us we had to leave right then. Our food was half cooked. We had to pack everything up that second. We had to leave our grill because how do you pack up a grill full of glowing embers. I advise everyone to think twice before going to that place. What terrible customer service!!! When you try to do the right thing and pay to enjoy your father's day and are run off with no reasonable explanation. BEWARE!!!
I did receive a response from the new owner, old owners son. That is a lie. There weren't 16 people brought. My son did have friends that had paid to fish and camp.. That stopped by to say hello and to see his new daughter. No one was taken advantage of as you are trying to insinuate. We tried to pay Sunday morning for the ability to stay for a few extra hrs and let the babies fish but was told not to worry about it. Imagine how put off we were when we were ran off. You can make excuses and try to blame my son for your employees lack of communication if that makes you feel better for the way we were treated at your place of business. I hope this review is read by everyone that Google's places to camp in Brevard. Your response was very lackluster and no responsibility for the fact we were told to not worry about it and for my son to enjoy his father's say. This shows anyone else that may come there and have a complaint or concetn how they will...
Read moreWe reserved a tent camping site because we would be in Brevard the evening before the eclipse in 2017. We are veteran tent campers and have been to many, many campgrounds all over the country. When we made the reservation, the man on the phone did tell us that if we had a small car we might not be able to make it up the mountain to the tent site and I assured him I have an all wheel drive car and would probably be fine. Well, he did not underestimate that statement. The drive to the tent sites are up a very steep, windy gravel road with deep ruts in it all along the way. You definitely need all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive to get up to the tent sites. Most of the tent sites are flat but do not have good parking on each side because it is on the side of a mountain. Our site had a deep rut in the entrance to the tent area so we had to park on the side which was a very narrow, winding road and I was very worried that someone was going to hit my car. You could not walk down the hill to the facilities because it was too far. They had one small porta-john on the mountain for the entire set of tent sites. There is water and electricity hookups at the sites but they do not work. We did have a nice, quiet evening but all of these drawbacks made it not worth the $30 we paid for one night of tent camping for 3 people. Early in the morning, what sounded like a kennel full of dogs started barking at about 7 a.m. and did not stop the entire day. Not sure where that was coming from but it was very loud and echoed throughout the tent Site Area. On a positive note, they do have a small outdoor pool and we were able to beat the heat by taking a dip but there were about 50 other people in there with us so too crowded to just stay and hang out. Also, they have a small catfish pond and my husband caught a giant catfish. The bathrooms in that area are very small and were not clean. Not sure about the little cabins which looked really sweet and if they had a bathroom and were clean they might be...
