My son attended Camp Summit this summer 2019. This was his second time attending. The Summer session 2018 was wonderful. He enjoyed himself immensely the first time. Actually, he had a great time this year too. However, this year was a different story. They did not follow his dietary instructions. He is a diabetic and has food allergies. As a result, he has had some behavioral and health issues since returning home. Also, I paid for a DVD showing all the fun he had. It was not included in his belongings. I called them and made them aware and was told it would be mailed to us. When I picked my son up it was earlier than the checkout time I was given. When I arrived, it seemed as though me being early was a problem for them. I had to get their early because I was driving in from out of town. I was admonished by the Administrator at the camp for not having called ahead. As if I can't come get my son early without telling them first. It would be logistically almost impossible to get there at the pick up time. The previous year I was early and it was no issue. I made contact with the home office via e-nail to voice my concerns and have heard nothing back. The camp itself is lovely and the facilities are very clean and the staff seems enthusiastic and engaged with the campers. Perhaps this year was just an off year or something. I am very disappointed in our...
Read moreThis overall experience deserves a big fat ZERO!! I'll make this short. Picked up non verbal son from camp. Was walking to car with legs open. Stopped by sonic to clean him up and have a drink, as we had a ling drive home. My heart broke when he pulled his shorts down, and I see scrapes, patches of raw skin on both of his in er thighs. I got the run around when I called the camp. Finally, a call back from Lisa. Again, long story short, as there were a few back and forth calls. Counselor claims he had to scrub hard to take "caked on" poo off of my son, since he had had an accident the night before, during the dance. Which by the way, was outside in the heat. My son is heavy, so his inner thighs rub. He would ha e been seeaty. No way it would be caked on. I asked if Counselor had used sand paper because that's what it looks like. She said she would investigate further. Show the counselors the pictures I had emailed her, and call me back Sunday. Why Sunday? She was gettn them together on Saturday, why not Saturday, knowing how upset I was??! Anyway, it's now 11:45pm Sunday night, and NO PHONE CALL!!!!!! I literally cried to her, and told her what I was feeling as a mom, seeing my son like this. She was non compassionate, so not surprised she didn't...
Read moreThe staff and facilities are outstanding. I dropped my kiddo off, and by the time we left for the week, I absolutely knew my kid was safe, in the best of care, and ready for fun. We received a call early on stating a camper in his cabin tested COVID19 positive. Before I could ask if we needed to pick him up, we were reassured that the kids were safe, isolated in place, & had a full week of fun planned. When we picked him up at the end of that session, our son was radiant with joy and happiness. I cannot express how grateful we are for this opportunity and my...
