I was on a roadtrip and needed a place near the Courthouse & Jail Rocks to spend the night. It was gonna be for a few hours anyway so I looked for a place that would meet the basic requirements with decent expectations. The motel was within an economical budget and was located by the highway. Now, on first glance, you may be a tad unsure but as I said, it will meet your basic needs. Check in was uncomplicated and the owner was very welcoming. Beware though - you will probably be greeted by a bunch of intimidating barking dogs so don't go barging into the check in counter unceremoniously! There is WiFi but it's weak. (To get important thunderstorm updates, I hung out near the office for a more stable connection.) As for the room, it was spacious with a clean bathroom. While the deadbolt on the door didn't quite work, I locked the door knob and felt a slight reassurance with the guard dogs not too far away (lol). Parking is right in front of your door. If you're a light sleeper, being next to the road or if someone starts his engine late night, you may be disturbed. You'd better arrange for your meals beforehand or make a trip to the Subway in Bridgeport. There is a small laundry area between the office and the rooms. PS: if you're looking to stargaze, get on the highway and make a left. In a minute, you will see an intersection with a small road on either eide. Either direction will get you clear of lights and under an open sky!...
Read moreMade reservation for a Thursday night to be on the area for some work on Friday made the 5 hour drive and arrived at 5pm. First thing I noticed were permanent rvs in some of the rv spots. Typically, permanent rvs in an rv park mean it’s not the best place to stay. Not much else around so I went ahead since I was staying in the motel anyway. The office was in what looked like an old house. Walking up to the door several dogs were in the garage behind a wire fence barking and jumping trying to get at me. The lights to the office were off and as I walked in a woman greeted me. I told her who I was and that I had a reservation. She said “no you don’t, I don’t have any reservations today.” I got her to look at her calendar and there it was my reservation written on the calendar. She told me sorry there were no rooms available. She told me to goto the hotel in the town. I looked up and saw the hotel was $150 a night. So I checked in scottsbluff and the best I could find was $95. So off I went to scottsbluff about 45 minutes away and away from where I was to work the next day. All in all this was a miserable experience. the next time in the area I won’t even give this place a chance. I’d discourage anyone from staying here, but good luck if...
Read moreI cannot find enough good things to say about this place- totally unplanned stop on Christmas day left me looking for a motel to stay in (which if you've ever looked for a room on Christmas day, you know what kind of challenges that brings with it).
The owners were working the desk, and I made mention of no place being open to grab a bite. The owner of the hotel, brought me home made tacos to my room! They really are the salt of the earth type people- very sweet and kind.
If that wasn't enough for ya' the rooms are VERY clean and crazy, and the campground is VERY well kept, and it looks like they were adding more amenities when I was there.
There is laundry on site.
I can't thank them enough, also can't recommend...
