We just got back home from a weekend in our travel trailer at Ringing Rocks Family Campground. This is a cute campground in the middle of the woods in Bucks County with a central location to Nockamixon State Park and Ringing Rocks County Park.
Check in was easy and fast with the people at the counter providing us a well drawn out map showing our site, the dump station and other amenities. Camp store has food and drinks and other camping related supplies all at fair campground prices.
Our site (R7) was a stone site with a picnic table and fire ring. Backing in was easy and there are small trees in between each site to mark the site boundaries. The sites are close to each other, but we never felt like we were on top of our neighbors. Our site had Power (30Amp), Water and Cable hook ups. We hooked up the cable and configured out TV, but did not get a chance to really use it beyond making sure that it worked.
Gave 'Room' 4 stars instead of 5 because of the stones and our proximity to the playground. Lots of joyful noise from the playground because of all the kids enjoying themselves. But these are "Us" problems and shouldn't really cloud your judgement in picking sites here. In reality I wish I could give it 4.5 stars since those items are such a minor inconvenience and are really not a major breaking point for us when we decide to book a site.
Once quiet time rolled around the site was truly quiet, no wild parties or anything of the sort.
Cell service (Verizon Wireless) was 1-3 bars of 5G or 2-3 bars of LTE depending on where we were, we had no issues using our phones as a hot spot for other devices.
We did not partake in any of the onsite amenities, but over our weekend Cornhole and Bingo was offered. We we just too tired to really enjoy them. The site was starting to be decorated in Halloween themes, which added some nice atmosphere.
The only 'downside' I can mention is the location of the dump station. Once a trailer is parked it blocks one of the main roads through the campsite. This is only a minor inconvenience, but enough to mention it. There are alternate routes out and around the camp store if you are in a car and are stuck behind a trailer.
Overall: Do not hesitate to book at this campsite. You will not be disappointed. If my only complaints are "The campsite is too rocky" and "Kids are enjoying themselves too much and we dislike too much noise", then you know this is a real winner of a campground. Very Pet Friendly, very walkable and...
Read moreNormally, I'm not one to leave reviews but I hope this one reaches management. We recently stayed at lot T5 from Friday - Sunday as we haven't been camping in a while and wanted to give our kids a good experience. The kids had a great experience as there was plenty for them to do, amentities were clean and updated, staff was friendly, some of the seasonal residents were also friendly. This was the pros of our highlight, now let's get to the cons.
T5 was ideally in the worst spot for a campsite. It was the last tent site closest to the path to get to the basketball courts and the path to utilize the bathroom facilities as well. All through the night people kept walking into our campground, and at certain points kept flashing their flashlights into our tent because I guess they thought our site was theirs. At one point, a lady even stood on our site at 3 AM having a cell phone conversation. Early morning hours, before 8 AM, early goers would be playing basketball making the loudest of noises. Obviously people have the right to play basketball, but a tent site should not be in such close proximity that you can hear the balls dribbling.
Next, the 10 PM - 8 AM quiet time is almost non-existent or enforced but how can it when the employees leave at 9 PM?. Friday night, the couple next to us was flinging vulgar language at each other from quiet time till at least 2 AM causing us to lose sleep because they were extremely loud ontop of the people walking through our site throughout the night. On Saturday night, there was a large family partying till at least 2 AM as they made several runs in their cars somewhere and kept driving through campground.
I would LOVE to give this place a higher review as this had nothing to do with the employees or the conditon of the place because everything was up to date and modernized. However, due to the site experience and the surrounding people, it left a sour taste in our mouth. If we comeback, we will strongly request not to be on site T5 as this site was...
Read moreWe drove about 12 hours to stay at this park and wanted to hit an array of attractions in PA, but cut our 7 day trip down to 4 1/2 at this campground and went someplace else. This is definitely a local hot spot campground, where the majority of campers are summer people who leave their campers. The area that we were placed in was the short visit area and it showed. The road around the campground showed its age, as it was really designed around a time when people had tents/popups and has not been widened to take in the amount of RVs that camp there. Also, our campsite was so hard to back into, we have an RV and were the last ones in the little area and it took my husband some skill to be able to back our RV in without hitting someones car. The site was also sooo incredibly wet, there was no good drainage set up in the area, yes there had been rain, but 3 days later when it should have been completely dried out our site was still wet. They had a fun kid orientated DJ set up for one of the days on the weekend, but the amount of people smoking around the stage was a huge turn-off and we couldn't let our young child stay and dance to the music. The pool was a great size and heated, but the kiddo pool was not heated, very disappointed in that. Then during the week on one of the days it just never was opened, no idea why. The bathrooms were also in a good need of an update, something i would expect more at a state park and not a private campground. Overall I would say if you are local and looking to make a short campground visit this was a fine campground, but not one we would go out of our way to...
