For what this is, this place was very very nice. My experience blew away many of the chain hotels in what I would expect would be the same category. The Best Westerns I was staying in don't even come close. This seems like it's a family business and you could see what look like family members and they are working hard. If they weren't family this is a close community. When you come to the hotel, it is kept up very well and the appearance is very welcoming. It brought me back to staying at very nice roadside motels as a child but this one is much nicer. I stayed in a kitchenette room with two queen beds and it was fabulous. It was the large and the kitchen was very nice and the bathroom was very nice and it had a balcony. Even though it was right off the road it was fairly quiet especially with the air conditioning which was excellent. Some little drawbacks to the room was a stained carpeting when you walked in which I'm sure can be easily remedied. The refrigerator was nice and it was a small full size refrigerator but it was not Frost free. The room was spotless other than that. I understand that no hotels like to put in more towels than they have to but we like dry towels in the evening and the morning and if you use a towel in the evening and many hotels it does not dry out by the morning. I asked the lady at the front desk for more towels and she made it happen and actually brought them to the room. That one little extra effort really made a great impression. I would say stay here 100% anytime any day in the room that I had. No smell of smoke. No evidence for previous animals. The kids which are a tween and teen really loved having the pool and hot tub and playground. It was a very nice property and I think that I wouldn't mind staying there for at least a week. It was just that pleasant. It's also just down the road from restaurants and grocery stores etc. It certainly not out of the way and the town is in general pretty small. Now you can't find any information on the internet about this restaurant that they have. You would think that they would publicize it with the prices and pictures and I'm not sure why they don't. The restaurant doesn't have a separate name so it can't be searched on the Internet or reviewed and it's impossible to find any information about this restaurant. I think it would be a good choice even if you're not staying at the hotel but because they don't have a name for the restaurant it's hard to find it separately from the hotel. I didn't like the fact that they said "breakfast is in the morning from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m." it really implied like any other hotel that it would be free. They should have said our restaurant is open from such and such a time and the buffet is x amount of dollars. So I went and checked it out. The staff and the dining room was like going back in time in a nice way. Two small Buffet tables, one with hot foods and one with cold foods. It is $10.75 per person and the breakfast looked fine for that. Drinks are extra. Please display this information on your website boldly with pictures of your buffet and restaurant because it looked to me like a good product and you should be proud of it. For me, I just didn't want to spend 60 bucks for breakfast for 4 on that particular morning as we had things to do. But keep in mind that you're going to be paying for a decent breakfast if you want breakfast at the hotel.
This would be my choice for a hotel in that area every single time I stay at a...
Read moreWe just stayed here for parents weekend at JMU. I had made this reservation a few months ago when a handful of hotels were still available for me to choose from. Ultimately we choose the Village Inn because of its good reviews, but before we made the final decision I called the motel to see if they had pet-free rooms. We have severe animal dander allergy in the family that leads to asthma/trouble breathing for myself and my son and can not do rooms that allow pets. The front desk lady I spoke to before I booked with her on the phone told me they have rooms that do not allow pets and I explained our issue and she assured me we would receive a room that did not allow pets. Fast forward to check in day and I casually ask the front desk lady if our room is pet-free as we were told it would be and she said "no, unfortunately we couldn't get a pet-free room for you." It was 9pm, we had been stuck in 4+ hours of traffic coming down, we were tired, hungry and I was just devastated. I explained that we had severe pet allergies and been told we would receive a pet-free room. She was completely unapologetic as she said "the person you spoke to should have told you we can't guarantee a pet-free room." Well obviously had she told me that I would have booked elsewhere. She said "if it helps, I'm looking back at the last few weeks and there hasn't been a pet that has stayed there in about a month and I believe this room was one of the ones that had the carpet cleaned last week." We took the keys, as I had paid nearly $400 for the night and I told my husband we would give it an hour and the minute my son or I started having trouble breathing, we would unfortunately need to head back home. Luckily, I don't know if it was the carpet cleaning or if it was the air purifier we travel with everywhere we go, or the fact that a pet hadn't stayed there for atleast a month, but the stars aligned and we didn't experience any issues. This is no way takes away from the fact that it could have been very bad for myself or my son, and I would never, ever, ever have put myself or him in a situation where a pet-free room wasn't guaranteed. I always travel with his nebulizers, rescue inhalers and allergy meds, and the minute we started feeling any heaviness in our chest, we would have bailed. ||I would give this motel a 0 for front desk staff (I know they were booked, but she did nothing to make their mess up better - not a discount on the room, not free breakfast, nothing), but a 5 for cleanliness. They must do a great job maintaining/cleaning, and the room was...
Read moreUpon visiting the website, there were but two pictures, one of which had a hot tub on the corner of the room. I bought my room which started it had a 'Whirlpool' in it. Turns out it's just some hot tub jets in a normal bathtub that takes forever to fill, and of which mine had hair in it, so I didn't even get to experience. While the motel-inn is presented well, is located next to a busy road with cars and trucks easily and periodically heard throughout the night. The walls of the rooms are thin so if you aren't hearing the cars, you're heading the people next door. The rooms are quaint, little sizes but are otherwise kept tidy despite the hair in my bathroom. The bed sadly was very stiff and not really comfortable at all, but extra pillows and blankets are there if you need. A very big gripe I have is that breakfast is not included. To be fair to them, some people might find that better that they aren't paying for a breakfast they won't use, but the is the first I've ever seen of this. The issue with paying is that it is $8 PER PLATTER, PER PERSON. Meaning if you don't finish what you can fit in the plate, you cannot bring it with you to your room, or you'll be charged another $8. Though advertised as a restaurant and granted their selection was much wider than a normal Continental Breakfast, the food was average. The fruits tasted like they were on the cusp of going rotten and the 'French toast' I had tasted undercooked at some points, burnt at others. The staff itself were very friendly, though. Apologetic at a couple of issues and no attitude nor any unprofessionalism. Overall it was an adequate yet disappointing visit. definitely not the fantastic experience I was hoping to enjoy from the reviews. The entire price was cheap, though, do you get what you pay for. Not bad for a motel, but if considered a hotel, then there are definitely improvements and...
