First Class customer service at Mossy Pong Lodge; it truly was second to none. The lodge is a beautiful place and the activities were fantastic but the exceptional service it what sets the tone for the whole experience. Brad & Ellen obviously care a great deal about taking care of their guests and that sentiment is shared by their whole team. My wife and I stayed late in early August and had a great time.
We shot sporting clays with Ty which was awesome, it is clearly laid out to challenge even experienced shooters but Ty walked us through the patterns and pulled clays at a speed where even novices like my wife and I had a fighting chance! We really enjoyed it and I think we're hooked I suspect that we'll find some place locally to go shoot clays again.
We also chartered an inshore fishing trip with Captain Drew and had a great time on the water, we chose inshore to avoid any seasickness since my wife is prone to motion sickness and the inshore waters were incredibly smooth, she had no issues at all. We caught a few fish, saw some gators & beautiful marshlands, caught a bonnethead shark(which was maybe the most fun catch & release fish I've caught) and the lodge packed us a cooler full of drinks, chips and huge chicken & bacon sandwiches to make sure we didn't miss lunch.
We each scheduled 1 hour massages and let me tell you, sitting amongst the Georgia Pines in the Adirondack chairs on the porch of the Executive Lodge after a massage is top notch relaxation. Regrettably I don't recall the masseuse's name but if you ask Ellen she can tell you!(I think it was Liz)
Speaking of the Executive Lodge, the place is beautiful. High ceilings, gorgeous mounts, 24-7 access to drinks & snacks, very comfy beds with heavy duvets that are fantastic if you like to sleep cold like we do. We dropped the thermostat and the AC chilled the room down in no time - slept like a baby.
I may have saved he best for last here... Big Momma & Mossy Pond know how to feed folks! Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner... all this place does is hit home runs at the dinner table. They serve some fantastic appetizers & drinks before every dinner but DO NOT overdo it because you really need room for dinner. Quail, Steak & Chicken Tacos, Seafood Boil(Snowcrab, Crawfish, Taters & Corn on the Cob), fresh caught Sea Trout and Tri-Tail(They will cook your catch and we had neighbors that were generous enough to share!). And as good as dinner is, save room for dessert because that's where Big Momma shines! Blueberry Cobbler with ice cream, Butterfinger Brownies, Strawberry Cake and Brookies - each dessert was truly exceptional. Breakfast was right on par as well, my favorite breakfast was biscuits smothered with eggs, sausage patties, bacon and gravy served with cinnamon rolls the size of a small dinner plate!
There are simply too many kindhearted people at the lodge for me to call out by name and I think a more telling observation is that in the several days we were there we only ran across people that wanted us to have a great time. It's a family atmosphere of sorts and they just welcome you into that family before you even arrive because we got a taste of their special brand of hospitality from the moment they picked us up at the airport.
I encourage everyone that has an affinity for the outdoors to make a trip to Mossy Pond and I really hope that my wife and I have an opportunity to come back, I know I can bust more clays next time and there are definitely more fish to be caught.(I almost forgot! You don't even have to leave the lodge to do some fishing - they have gear on hand so you can fish their ponds and catch real nice fish right outside the bar! Let them make you a drink and then step out side and...
Read moreCreating memories and cherishing moments! Mossy Pond is absolutely fantastic. There are plenty of hunting companies and lodges out there but Mossy Pond just does it different. More intimate, attention to detail, welcoming, a huge range of options for each and every desire as well as amazing food, fires, and staff. I only have a few more years before my son finishes high school and we’ve been doing an annual trip to Mossy for 3 years. Each trip has been different and Mossy Pond has all the options. You can’t put a price on the moments I’ve gotten to experience watching my son grow and mature as a man during these trips. We’ve made lifetime friends with the incredible guides. Jacob, Dean, and Hunter are top notch and always by name requested by my son. I’ve also spoken to others who have experienced Mossy Pond and they’re just as loyal to the other guides there which is a true testament to the entire operation top to bottom.
This year I took my daughter (12) as a spectator. Best decision I’ve made in a long time. Mossy Pond was so welcoming to include her and introduce her to the world of nature, hunting, hunting dogs, and enjoying something with Dad (other than the beach). She absolutely loved each and every event. Pheasant, ducks, hunting hogs, skeet, etc…. I had her by my side the entire time and each event she enjoyed more and more. I might even tell her about the Mossy Pond Spa next year. 🤣🤣.
Mossy Pond thank you for making my family and I feel included in your family. Your staff and guides are unequalled. Can’t wait to see you next year and I plan on adding another day just to relax. God bless...
Read moreAfter returning home last night, I knew I had to leave an incredible review for Mossy Pond in the event a family, business, wedding, etc….group was undecided on a venue. As a senior military leader, I observe and deliberate experiences different than most. Full disclosure, I was completely skeptical of our spouses coming to a “Hunting Lodge”….let me be candid on that thought or if you are hesitant in that arena - the Executive Lodge was the most spacious and accommodating facility I’ve ever stayed in…the rooms and bathrooms were exceptional and there was no detail overlooked. The Executive Lodge comes with its own hostess and private chef - and I was baffled at the attention to detail, presentation, quality and taste of everything! One in our party has special dietary needs and the chef exceeded her expectations…once you’re on property, no request is too small or overlooked - everyone is personable, relatable and just make you feel like family. Each area/building on the property we visited was ascetically decorated and set up perfectly - the vision and thought that went into this business model should be replicated. Our hunts were amazing - our guides were talented and worked to make the experience one to remember. I could go on an on…but, I hope the excitement was captured in the above review. Thank you to Brad and Ellen and the entire staff at Mossy Pond for this...
