Purpose of our trip was a couples fishing retreat with our friends. Perfect on-the-river access however, with that being said, be prepared to climb ALOT of stairs to get to it and back up to the cabin. You’ll also need some strength to pull the kayaks down and put back up when you check out from the storage area. They aren’t pre-tethered in the river for you but there are teethed ropes for your convenience during your stay which was a nice perk! Take your water shoes & wear your bathing suit. The river front is calm, cool, ideal for swimming, kayaking, fishing, not too shallow, not too deep. The cabin was phenomenal! One bed/bath downstairs and one bed/bath upstairs. Each couple had their own personal spaces. Fully equipped kitchen with excellently appointed stoneware plates/bowls/coffee mugs, flatware, kitchen linen and cookware (even a large cast iron skillet!). We had to open the complimentary first aid kit-my friend got stung by a catfish- and was pleased to find that it was a premiere kit that literally had every thing but a stitch kit to get us back up and fishing in no time! The washer/dryer with complimentary soap/dryer sheets was an excellent touch- we came home with all clean clothes! More than plenty supply of towels, napkins, paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher soap. Folks, this cabin Is better than home away from home with all their amenities! The hosts were prompt to answer any questions we had, provide extra firewood for S’mores, and when we weren’t quite ready to go home after our reservation ended, they graciously offered a discount for us to stay one more night-we could not say no! This cabin is great for 2 couples or moderately sized families with kiddos. If you have difficulty climbing a set, or 4 flights of stairs one way, I don’t think you’d get to enjoy the full experience this cabin has to offer regarding...
Read moreI did not actually get to stay in one of their cabins. We have had a large amount of rain this year in Oklahoma. The river was up and flooded the deck. For safety reasons, the owner called me to cancel my reservation. She did help me find another cabin to stay in, she refunded me half of my money AND she booked a new cabin for us to stay in. The new cabin was a little more expensive than her cabin. She paid the extra money for the new cabin! I was really bummed because we wanted to be right on the river and loved the looks of this cabin, but I was pleased with how she handled this situation. The river levels are really not in her control. It’s just one of those situations that it is what it is and it’s out of everyone’s hands. She was amazing though and I am def looking forward to coming back to the area just to stay in one of her cabins. Thank you so much!! You guys...
Read moreA strong possibility for a new Thanksgiving tradition. Arrived at Kingfisher Cabin on Turkey Day and found incredible temperatures waiting for us. The resort was more than charming with a comfy master downstairs and a kitchen that provided everything we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving Dinner. We utilized the grill, the hot tub and the smart tv for college football! Fly fishing, hiking and a power, nature walk was just what we were looking for. The privacy of this gem is perfect for a family weekend, a romantic getaway, groups of fishermen, or simply by yourself for some much needed down time. Peaceful and Secluded!! Hochatown is within driving range and offers quality food, beverages and the State Park. Looking forward to...
