We stayed here for 1 full week in June. The campground is well kept and the travel trailer sites are nice. Some sites are really amazing others are standard but they are all nestled in trees and a minimun of 15 feet from each other. You might need levelers but this is standard expectations for natural campgrounds. This isn't a fancy campground it's a natural campground. If you want pools and cramped campsites go to KOA, if you want privacy, pretty pines and rivers come here. You have your basics here, shower bathrooms, dump site, potable water and electric. We like the location of this campground is 20 minutes to Duluth, 30 to the North Shore, 1 to 1.5 hours to Sudan Mine, Lake Vermillion and Ely. There is a gas station right outside the campground with basic needs, bait, ice etc. There is some light traffic noise from the highway that is down the road but with only 20 sites the camprgound itself is very quiet. We prefer to be closer to highways because that means you are closer to activities but you could also spend a day or two just relaxing fishing off the pier or tubbing with family. They also have tent sites and a group camp site. Again some sites are standard and this is not a huge campground. Not all tent sites have picnic tables but the owner does provide tables and folding chairs if needed. On a side note the owner is very accommodating and nice. We loved how he was always available to help. He was very patient with our rambunctious kids. These days its a gem to find such great...
Read moreSo glad we found this place! We had spent 5 days at a crowded resort and needed a place to get away to. I called Cloquet River Campground's number on Wednesday afternoon asking for anything available. I spoke with Joe, and am SO thankful we did. It was the weekend of Grandma's marathon, and we didnt expect to find anything good. We were mistaken.
Joe is a most gracious host! He built the campground 4 years ago, and you can tell he takes great pride. He designed huge spaces for each site, nice wooded areas, and plenty of privacy. The cloquet river is beautiful and offered me up a couple small fish in the evenings.
I called Joe who lives in his home a few hundred yards from the campground on Monday morning. I had lost power to my camper and asked if he could help. Long story short, he spent an hour with me crawling in, over, under, and around my camper until he fixed the problem!
A true kind man, and a great place to stay. By the way, it's only 25 minutes from Duluth!

Read moreHorrible place. Beware! The owner of this campground promised a whole list of things when I was looking for a campground. He did not deliver on anything. The campground was filthy. He refuses to get an appropriate amount of trashcans cause he won't pay for it. The shower house was filthy, the same nasty clump of black hair I pulled out of the shower drain was still there a week later and the floor was full of dirt. Then when it became clear he wasn't going to deliver on the things he promised, ie.wifi, a deck for sale etc he became, in my opinion, very creepy and then decided since he saw me driving 17 in the 10 mph ONCE, which I apologized for, he kicked me out immediately, knowing I would likely not be able to find a place to go. He also called the sheriff's office on me even tho I did not get violent or threatening. I just cried. This man is a chronic liar, the campground is impossible with mosquitoes and the "tubing" he advertises? He tells me he only offers that 2x a year. Find...
