Deep Bend Landing is one of the best spots on the Satilla River, and the family that owns/operates it are the kind of truly GOOD people that it is getting harder and harder to find in this world! The property is a large, beautiful area with a campground that offers spots for your rv/camper or tent, as well as a few cabins/tiny houses that you can rent to stay in. The Satilla River runs right beside the property so you can enjoy the great swimming/fishing/boating it offers without having to be crowded like most of the public areas on the river usually are. It's peaceful and secluded but still close enough for a quick drive to the grocery store, dollar general, convenience stores, and cpl of restaurants in the area. It's owned by a very nice family that make sure you feel welcome and talk to you like they've known you forever. The care and pride they have for their business, their property, and their community is obvious in how hard they work to keep up the natural beauty of the land and how they treat everyone that comes there from the customers that come to stay a few days to the service providers like my husband and I who came there to help do some stump grinding and land clearing work a cpl of years ago. This is hands down my first and highest recommendation when it comes to places to stay on the...
Read moreStayed at Site #3 on the Satilla River for two nights. Wonderful camp host and owner. Beautiful setting. The river is peaceful.
PROS: - lovely setting and very private. Right up close to the river. Very quiet, tho we were here on a Monday and Tuesday in a major heat wave, not many people want to camp in south GA then. No bathhouse - you must be self-contained. (We are) Loved having full hookups.
CONS: - booking process is a bit confusing, it works, but…. The Internet/cell access is dicey - we had decent coverage with our Verizon, TMobile was flakey. Road into the campground is dirt. We’re towing a big travel trailer and tho road had recently been graded, I was so glad it was dry. Leaving our site nearly took off our awning - it would be helpful if a few trees on the road out were removed. We literally had inches to spare after backing up and trying again. The dirt road is graded with soft edges and a steep drop off of 6-8 inches. The cut needed to get truck and trailer out is super tight. If the tire slips off the road, a tow will be needed. We actually dragged the tucked up trailer stairs a bit in the dirt leaving. We have a RAM Crew Cab with a 37 foot TT.
This was a good experience - a nice campsite by the river, mostly quiet, little boat traffic, fish jumping,...
Read moreExceptional location. This campground is not like any other you've seen. Only the chirping of birds and hooting of owls may be heard here. The campsites are large and well apart from one another. Unlike in many "parking lot" campsites, you won't bump into another camper when you step out of your trailer. I really enjoyed having a cup of coffee in the morning and stepping outside to listen to the rustle of the trees and see the waters on the Satilla River. Exactly what one would imagine when they hear the word "peaceful" is what exists here. Ron and his team will take care of your every need and want. They are easy to reach by text or phone and quick to react. While I was there, I was treated to nothing other than the warmest of Southern hospitality. After three wonderful months, I will...
