Hives and old bed pillow/ blankets. The loudest and most sleepless night of my vacations.||While the rooms are quaint, the bed is extremely rough. Old pillows and blankets cover the bed. During our one night get away, I broke out in hives during the night. There are only two towels per room as well. They mention make up remover cloths, which still remain a mystery to be found. There was hair on the shower walls and the toilet handle had to constantly be jiggled to stop it from running. Other guests were extremely louD AND RUDE after "quiet hours". Unfortunately, our little romantic get away turned into a night of sleeplessness. There was a screaming child next door to us. I called the desk shortly after we arrived to the room for the night. I was told by a girl at the desk that things would be taken care of. The noise continued well into the night and no one would pick up in the office.||Also if you want food after 9:30pm, you wont find any place to deliver to the hotel. They also offer no morning breakfast. Even after booking a room, to my surprise it was more then what was origionally stated. Almost $150 per night. Over priced for what is offered I should have stayed in the resort down the road. I wont stay here again. Especially now that I have to pay for a hospital visit due to an allergic reaction to whatever is used to clean those rooms/beds if they are at all cleaned. Also, what do you do with the old pillows they use to decorate the bed? How many people throw them on the floor? If you read the review multiple people ask the same question. They state that they "change the linens once a year", im not exactly sure what this means. I would like a refund! Note to the owner, I didnt come in the office, I called the desk. Your little "you had problems paying for the room" comment, it was because of your machine noted by the good folks at capital one! My room was booked online and you told me you never recieved it even though I had a conformation number. Also, I did call and asked for a refund and was rudely dismissed by the young staff you have working there. Anyone who disagrees with your put of date mom and pop hotel is instantly wrong! I have made an attempt to get a refund, but I'm sure your teenage staff told you about that. You have my phone number on record, give me a call. As of now I have an ER bill due to your negligence. P.S. If I drive a charger, there isnt any problem paying for a room. Stop having children run a hotel. ||Read less||Date of stay:...
Read moreThey simply don't make 'em like this anymore. Five generations of my family have enjoyed The Hemlock Inn over the last fifty three years. So what makes this 65 acre retreat so special? For starters, the Inn has clean, cozy rooms, each tastefully decorated with its own unique furniture. Or you may choose to stay in one of their comfortable wooded cabins. And you will absolutely love their incredible southern meals served family style at large round tables (breakfast and dinner, by the way, are included in the very reasonable room rates). Oh, and don't forget to buy one of their cookbooks with many of their traditional family recipes...except for their apple chips recipe which unfortunately will always remain a family secret. And you'll find that the amazing mountaintop views are even more spectacular when viewed from one of their numerous rocking chairs. Indeed, finding relaxation is not a problem. The Inn has its own well maintained hiking trails or you can take a 15 minute ride to the Deep Creek recreation area in the Smoky Mountain National Park for water falls, tubing, fishing; etc. The Inn has a game pavilion, gift shop, and a well stocked library with the facility's only TV. Located just a few minutes from one of North Carolina's most charming and fun mountain towns, Bryson City, the Inn is a great family headquarters for one of the State's premier pre-christmas events, the Polar Express train ride. But unquestionably, what makes the Hemlock Inn so distinctive are the wonderful owners, the Shell's and the White's, who have devoted so much of their lives sharing their talents and gifts with both old and new friends. Mort and Lainey are truly genuine folks who delight in providing their customer's with an unforgettable mountaintop experience. Give them a call. You'll be glad...
Read moreAs a trip with our family of 6, we wanted time outdoors, unplugged and stress-free. The Hemlock Inn delivered! The unspoiled nature view from the front porch red rockers was peaceful and delightful.||Mort, the owner, is kind, hospitable and so hardworking. We did not know until the second day that they were a little short-staffed, which is why he was working around the clock to serve the guests!||We stayed in the Innkeeper's Cottage, which seems like it might have one time been an innkeeper's actual cottage. It was spacious and clean and fit our family of 6 with the addition of two bunk beds in the laundry room.||You can expect country cooking - our kids even tried fried chicken livers! Do not miss the apple chips with a warm biscuit and butter!||Our favorites were the short hike on the property, tubing at Deep Creek (so close by and SO MUCH FUN), and a drive into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Though it was a 45 minute drive, the Alum Cave hike was worth it. We had a glorious sighting of elk right on the roadside and only wished we would have had more time there.||It's an easy drive to the Nantahala Outdoor Center (gorgeous, family-friendly whitewater rafting) and Bryson City, where we tried all the different ice cream shops we could find.||5 stars is easy to give. It's a bit of an older property, but that's what we were looking for - simple, family friendly...
