We stayed at Eagles Nest, three generations: grandparents, parents and kids. 4 adults age 50-76. 4 "kids" age 6-19. Beautiful cabin. Plenty of space for us. Great mountain views. 5 - 10 minute drive to Bryson City which is a favorite destination for us with nice restaurants and shops, but not nearly as crowded as Gatlinburg or Pidgeon Forge. There is a nice grocery store called Ingles. ||Cabin is also 5 - 10 minute drive to Deep Creek campground entrance to GSMNP. This is a good spot for families to enjoy the national park. Short walk to a few waterfalls. There is access to a few trails for longer trips or back country camping. There is tubing in the creek which is a lot of fun for able bodied folks from 10-60 years old (you can rent tubes from a number of locations you can walk to from the deep creek entrance). Younger kids can do it but should probably stay with and capable adult, older adults may struggle getting in and out of tubes on slippery, rocky river bottom. The parking lot at Deep Creek can fill up on busy days in the summer. I find if you get there before noon, you'll most likely get a parking spot. The earlier the better.||We have stayed here a few times. From this location we have also done zip lining and rafting in Nantahala and taken a train ride on the Great Smokie Mountain Railway. We'll be back, hopefully...
Read moreIn mid-May (2022), I returned to Lands Creek Log Cabins for some much needed alone time. This visit, I chose the Rabbit Holler cabin. A most comfortable, cozy cabin with a hot tub right outside, and recently updated (inside) by the very talented, Sue...of course.
With the creek rushing by, it was really soothing to my soul. Bed was extremely comfortable, as was the new couch. No issues with WiFi. Hiked a couple of days in Deep Creek, went into town; all within a few miles of the cabins. One evening, found a great Mexican Restaurant (4 Queen's Mexican Grill), and had take-out back to the cabin. Even when it was raining, it was so nice to hang out in the cozy cabin.
Robin and Sue (& their staff) work very hard, every day, to give their guests a comfortable, restful and peaceful (& fun) experience at their cabins. Making sure their guests lack for nothing. You can see the results of their hard work for yourself, in the cleanliness of the cabins, and the outstanding up-keep of their vast property. I was very much appreciative of their easy-going nature & kindness to me on this particular visit.
Always a wonderful experience at Lands Creek. No matter the (personal) circumstances. Thank you again,...
Read moreMy husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Hummingbird retreat this August. It was our first stay at Land's Creek and already we cannot wait to return. EVERYONE was so accommodating especially Joe. We chatted about the area and Joe shared some of the best places with us, we tried most and he was right about each of them. We loved catching up with Joe and chatting about our adventures. We were able to visit Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Cherokee, Maggie Valley and the Smokey Mountain National park more than once during our week stay. The cabins are close to everything. We also spent a day in Bryson City and found it to be a quaint town with friendly folks who spoke to us like we were locals. Returning to the Hummingbird retreat after each adventure was just like coming home. We enjoyed the hot tub, chicken coup, hummingbirds and beautiful views right from our porches. WiFi was never a problem Joe made sure we could still keep in touch with our city folk as needed. I unfortunately had to do a little work while vacationing. We look forward to returning for a longer stay with our family in tow next time. Hoping to stay in the Beautiful...
