This place could be amazing because the nature is beautiful and they have some sweet cats to pet, but unfortunately it has not maintained at all and looks to be in a state of disrepair. The buildings, including bathrooms and showers are in very poor condition. The floors are busted and peeling and the overall sanitation inside is very poor. The play structure is not secure, making it unsafe for children. Our kids climbed to top to go down the slide and it started to sway back and forth. We did not let our kids play on it after we saw this as it appeared it would tip over. The pool was huge but it was very cloudy, dirty, had green algae growing on the cement. It was also in dangerously poor condition. The plaster on the steps and the floor of the pool was broken and our entire family ended up with cuts. Many of the seasonal campers are run down with many people smoking pot everywhere. The rules say you can only smoke inside the camper but it wasn’t enforced at all. The cave was also promoted as “temporarily closed” but when we arrived we were told it was permanently closed. If you are coming to see the cave, be advised. If the place was fixed up to be safe and clean, we would consider returning but not...
Read moreWe loved everything about this Thousand Trails Campground!!! We parked on a level grassy site that accommodated our Class A perfectly with full hookup. We had the typical fire ring and picnic table, but that's all that's typical. The sparkling clean swimming pool was always at the perfect temperature. There was a nicely stocked camp store. The very best part of this campground are the beautiful trails, the fascinating cave with small waterfall, and also the boat landing area that is so very peaceful to listen to wildbirds and watch boats on the St. Jo River. Our grandkids loved the great arcade room w full sized air hockey, Skee-Ball, several driving games, and a pinball machine. All were $.50. The dirt road into the campground was well groomed, plenty wide for RV's both ways and we felt safe with the code activated gate. It works well day or nite. We saw reviews talking about all the seasonal camper. We met several of them who have been there for 15 years or more... they are there because it's such a wonderful place!!! It's first come, first served to find a campsite... if you don't care for your site, you can change once during your stay. We stayed for 18 days and...
Read moreThis place is awesome!!! Not only is the campground really well maintained but the staff bends over backwards to help and accommodate their guests! They also host lots of events (during our stay: pony rides ,petting zoo, crafts, live bands and more) and keep their amenities clean and well maintained.
We stayed at Bear Cave for a total of 4 weeks. The first week we were in our RV before bringing it to the manufacturer for warranty work. We then moved to one of their cabins for the next 3 weeks and really enjoyed it! They were so kind to allow us to check in very early the morning or moving to the cabin so we could move all of our belongings in before dropping off the rv. This was such a huge help to us as we live full time on our rig and basically had to move our life out of it.
The rv site was paved, clean, and very spacious, we really enjoyed it. Also, the cabin was clean, everything was in good working order and the kitchen was surprisingly well stocked for our cooking needs.
Overall, we had a phenomenal experience and can’t wait to visit again in the future! Ignore all old or negative reviews because this new ownership and management are doing...
