Old and run down. Arrived at 1 a.m. to get a few hours of sleep after a long drive. One of the pillars is about to fall over so probably best not to park under the roof connected to front desk area. The office was empty, you have to press "0" to get a hold of clerk. After doing so, the desk clerk replies" "Be right there" in a tired voice. He opens the door half asleep and barefoot. We immediately felt like an unwelcomed annoyance. We check in, he shows us our room on the map and gives us the key. We arrive at our room, open the door and the room is occupied. T.V. is on loud, a couple lamps are on, bath towels all over floor. We go back to the desk feeling even more uncomfortable. Although, he does apologize and gives us a different room. Had to fumble to find a working light switch. The room was ok cleanliness wise (didn't see any bugs or anything) but not great. The bedding was askew as though housekeeping decided to lounge on it and watch tv or something. We had a smoking room, which of course will be smoky smelling, but this was really strong. It was like sleeping with a wet ashtray under your nose. They should air the rooms out occasionally. For $82 I'd expect a better place but it would have been worth the money to get a few hours of comfortable sleep and a toilet. (Can't comment on amenities such as shower, fridge, coffee or TV cause we literally just used the bed and toilet during our stay.) Unfortunately, the beds are ridiculously hard. And I love firm mattresses. But these are equivalent to sleeping on the floor. I'm not exaggerating when I say we could've just slept in our minivan for the same amount of comfort, or lack thereof. Only difference is we could extend our legs a bit more on a bed but that is not worth $82. My hips and shoulder were throbbing after laying on the bed for 30 minutes. For what they charge they could at least get slightly better mattresses cause they surely aren't putting money towards repairs, updates or proper cleaning. I regret getting the room. Probably should've left but since we had disturbed the clerks sleep twice we felt uncomfortable going in and asking for our money back. We tossed and turned, got a bit of sleep but were sore upon waking. Definitely not restful. Complete waste of money. We checked out 7 hrs after checking in. Had to ask for a receipt. Others have commented, "Its not great but it's a place to lay your head". To that I say, "So is your car". If you need some decent sleep, drive a bit further and find another hotel. If you don't care about comfort then just save your money, sleep in your car and use a truck stop for a shower/toilet. This may not be "the worst hotel ever" but you will regret paying what they charge. And even though I wouldn't consider this place a nightmare, it was the only place I've ever stayed at where I wanted to leave and get my money back. If they decide to lower the price to $20 or $30 a night, or if they greatly upgrade the mattresses, then it might...
Read moreWe were forced off of the road due to weather and had to stay here. Instead of charging us the $64 a night that is listed on their website, we got billed $144 (price gouging much?) When we went to go into our room, the door just pushed open. It wasn't locked and wouldn't lock. I spent a few minutes working on the door and finally got it to work and lock correctly. The room itself wasn't bad, but the bathroom stunk like someone had just smoked an entire pack of cigarettes in it (despite our being told several times that this was a non-smoking room and reminding us that we can't smoke in it.). In the morning, when we tried to leave, the hotel across the street had its parking lot cleaned and cleared already. No one had even attempted to do our lot. I had to put the truck into 4 wheel drive and it still took close to 10 minutes just to get out of the parking lot. Everyone else was snowed in. The best thing about this stay was the lounge. It wasn't even a lounge... It was a bar in the basement of the Super 8. The bartender was awesome, the drinks were cold and cheap, and we had...
Read moreWhen you drive up to this hotel, you wonder if you made a big mistake. It does not look like much from the outside and there's really nothing around it. It's clearly an older property. The design is a bit strange... it looks like you'd enter the rooms from the outside... but there is a long interior hallway where you get into the rooms.||||On the inside, the rooms are modern, large and comfortable. Everything worked as it should (although the A/C was a bit hard to manage). The people who work there (maybe the owners?) were very friendly. I would expect it to be a bit quieter since there is nobody above or below you. But it was a bit noisy.||||Other than a couple of truck stops... there is nothing around here. But that's not a bad thing. It's really easy getting on and easy off I-35. Just make sure you eat beforehand. Speaking of eating, breakfast is sparse. They have waffles which is great. But otherwise there is not a lot.||||Overall, I'd stay here again. It's just what I needed for a short stay...
