Tall Oaks Family Campground — Hotel in Buffalo

I have been going here since 2001 for family vacations. It had been 8 years since we broke out the camper, my parents gave me theirs and we decided to take it here since it was my family's campground growing up. Was not disappointed. The old owner really let it go... But these owners have done an amazing job fixing the place up and even making it better. We can park the camper right on the river and our little one loves playing in the sand and net fishing. They have also added a very clean well set up playground for the littles. Bath houses were clean and the atmosphere was very relaxing. When emailing to book a spot they are always amazing to accommodate us and answer very quickly. Very underrated campground. We went in the beginning of July with no reservations and had no problem finding a good site. We were able to camp literally RIGHT ON the river and next to the beach. The campground owner was very nice to us. The sites were decent sized and each had their own water, electric, picnic table and fire pit. However, the fire pits didn't have any grill/grates on them, which made it difficult to cook food over the fire. The beach and swimming area weren't too deep, muddy, or seaweedy. The bathrooms were really the only part of the campground that I disliked. I think there was only 1 bathroom building and in the women's restroom, there were only 2 stalls and one (pretty nasty looking) shower stall. We booked two nights I spoke with the owner who was very nice at least four times before we arrived and was never told that the water at the sites should not be drunk due to high nitrates until we had arrived. Firewood was 25.00 a wheel barrow unfortunately it was all wet and would not light. The site itself was very pretty however the bathrooms were pretty gross with the sink being outside and no soap provided to wash hands. The playground is a joke unless u have toddlers nothing for older children. Quiet hours are another joke. Fireworks and people screaming until almost 4am.
