I rented condo 13 for four nights beginning Wednesday the 16th. Everyone rents a place like this for their own reasons. I was not interested in being on the water. I was looking for a place to relax and get away from work.
I told the woman behind the counter this, and made a point about asking about wifi.
"I do have to do payroll for our company tomorrow, so I need a reliable signal."
Never play poker with this woman, she can bluff like nobody I have ever seen.
After checking in I discovered that the television was not working, and I was not able to get online, and that my sliding glass door did not lock. There was no method for locking this door. I reported it at the office.
A few hours later the husband showed up to address my concerns.
He fiddled with the television with no success. He returned later with a new tv and tried to program two different universal remotes and failed. Meanwhile someone showed up with a length of PVC pipe to lay in the door track.
"You have a new tv," he said "but you'll have to get up to change the channel. I'll come back with another remote."
He left the remotes, the defunct television sitting in the living room floor, and the new television, which had no base, sitting on a kitchen chair. I ended up leaving the set on one station for the duration of the next 24 hours.
I spent that 24 hours learning about the "wifi."
I discovered that I had no phone signal, and even with wifi calling I was only able to make calls from the bedroom, I was able to get online as long as I was standing in the bedroom window or outside the front door. I could have watched Prime or Netflix but could not get wifi in the living room where the tv was. By Friday afternoon, more people had arrived and there was more demand on the service and I was not able to get wifi in the bedroom window anymore, I had to be outside holding my phone over the railing.
I saw the husband early Friday afternoon, he asked if I had been able to get the remotes working, I told him I had not, he said he would bring me another remote, and I asked him to bring another roll of toilet paper as there had only been a quarter roll when I checked in.
By Friday evening he had not returned and the office phone was being answered by voice mail so I checked out about 6:30, notifying the office as I left. I left the room super clean, did not sleep in the bed or use any towels, it would have been easy to flip the room and rent it again, and since it was Father's Day weekend I suspect that they did.
I called a few days later and asked about a refund for Saturday night. I didn't ask for Friday night, only Saturday because I was checked out way before 11:00 a.m. Saturday. I was told someone would call me back. I did not hear back by Thursday so I called again and was informed that ... well, the wife said she wasn't going to do that. I outlined my complaints.
"I gave you a brand new tv," he reminded me, and it occurred to me that I have yet to buy a brand new tv that didn't come with a brand specific remote in the box and why was it not brought along with the new tv, along with the base. The cable plugged right in to the tv back, there was no cable box so the new remote should have worked straight out of the box.
Needless to say I didn't get my refund. Some of you may say, well geeze, it was just internet and television and a broken door lock, but based on my needs, those were pretty important amenities. I have no idea if the laundry room machines worked, or the pool was clean, or there was ample rv parking or if the a/c didn't work properly in other rooms. But the fact is, it's not up to the office or other customers to decide which amenities are important to which customers ... services promised should be services delivered, and they were not, and I feel I should have been granted a refund accordingly for the time I did not stay there. Proceed at your own risk, this time the missing the amenities may be the ones that are...
Read moreThis place is a diamond tucked away from the hustle and bustle with beautiful old pecan trees that offer great shade, even when by the water. The landscaping is well manicured, trash kept tidy and no litter. This beautiful resort is right along the Colorado River, with views of the water and beautiful grounds from the condos and other cabins. We have stayed here for 5 years straight, visiting each Spring for a full month. We live in Nebraska, so after a long and very cold winter, Heart of Texas Lake Resort is just what our soul needs! When we first started making our annual trek to the Texas Hill Country area, we rented a nice and well appointed one bedroom condo, which was perfect for just the two of us, but last year, after several family members expressed their desire to come for a visit, we chose to rent a 2 bedroom condo, which has been newly remodeled. What a great choice this was! We had my sister and her newly wed husband stay with us for a week, and then my oldest son, his wife and 3 children (ages 1-7) stay for another week. We all enjoyed grilling out and dining right by the river on picnic tables, while watching the sun set over the water and hills, and even having a bonfire. Watching the fishermen in their boats as they drifted along so lazily was quite relaxing. There is a large covered dock where you can fish in the shade, and at night the water is illuminated so you can actually see the fish below, a real treat for the grandkids! There is even a fish cleaning station. If you bring your boat or jet skis, you can load in and out right there on the property, as well as park your boat at the large floating dock. Last year in 2019 when our grandkids and family joined us, it was on Easter weekend, so we had a really fun time watching the kids scramble around, gathering their treats and filling their Easter baskets. Now they want to return every year! If you choose to venture off the property, there are a great number of restaurants available within 20-30 minutes drive, and lots of state parks, which are perfect for hiking, as well as the Llano Slabs where you can go wading and catch some sun. Many other sightseeing opportunities, fun adventures and festive events are easily accessible, as well as antique shops and flea markets. Loving this retired life!

Read moreWe have gone three years now for a family reunion but , the previous owners sold out last year. We went ahead and booked for July 27-29 of 2023. This took three months for Heart of Texas to be up and running. Should have been reluctant after the first individual quit after the first month afterwards. We were told there would be extra charges and was shocked how much. From around 50 family members the count went to 37. From three RVs to zero. After the lodge cost an extra $1400.00 for three nights and we’re told check in was 4:00pm. Reluctantly we proceeded and kept the reservation. Then came the phone call and we’re advised our card was charged for the remaining charges that had to be paid in full two weeks prior to check in and could call the morning of check in and might be able for earlier check in. Again we pressed forward. Finally the morning came and we started calling, left voicemail and waited and waited and tried to call back only to get voicemail message. Only did we get a call back when we used another phone. Yea we could check in at 2:00pm. Arrived and soon maintenance came and asked about things that they had work order for ( door not closing and bathroom sink slow draining. Fixed the door and I searched for drain problem. You can probably guess which bathroom it was in. Yes, yours truly. They looked under cabinet and discovered there were two yes two p-traps from basin to wall installed. We had a chuckle and was told “let us get the parts and would return and get it repaired”. Later one of the two returned and said “we have to go for parts and would return tomorrow and get it fixed “ that did not happen and no one let us know a thing. Now we are on Saturday just past lunch and a group of women and the lady in charge show to tour the lodge. This was not what we expected and they were not greeted well. After several looked through window and one just stepped inside they left with one comment about the smell. I have never done business with anyone that makes up the rules as we go. Good luck to anyone that would go there. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK. PS, you can only imagine what my...
