Yes this place has a nice scenery but the problems are horrifying. Our first problem was the room service. Thanks for cleaning out our room but cleaning out our box of chocolates? Yea they ate one of our chocolates and then rearranged them probably trying to hide the one they ate. Um gonna be kind of hard to cover that you ate the biggest piece of chocolate in the box!!! Also I wasn't about to eat any more after your fingers moved them around the box. But OK we didn't complain, we just thought they were strange. Next, I should probably explain this is a big day! A surprise Valentines Day gift from my boyfriend. He ordered a surprise dinner to be delivered at 7:00pm. We waited until 7:25pm when I complained we had to pack since we both worked in the morning! That's when he told me about the dinner. We started to walk up to the door when we realized our "cook" was busy conversating and not even prepping our dinner! We left and to make a long story short he proposed on the way to Wendy's. Thanks for ruining my engagement!!! Also they charged my boyfriend $100 for the meal that was never received!!!! She said he should've asked about it. As if that wouldn't ruin the surprise!!! This place ruined my perfect well planned engagement!!!! A memory I will tell everyone and always remember!!! I Hate This Place!!!!
Response: I see they still don't take responsibility for the mistakes made!!! The massage was on time and did end on time. The dinner would have been delivered way past 7:20 and it even says we didn't start packing until 7:25 and when we were walking to inform them our dinner had not come they were just chatting so they were talking and letting my food get cold after it was done??? And accusing customers of lying, horrible customer service!!! They ate the biggest piece of chocolate. Every place makes mistakes but beware this place does not take responsibility for theirs and you will pay whether the experience is good or a disaster. If it's a special occasion go somewhere else where mistakes will be fixed if any are made and you won't be told that your bad experiences were your fault for not waiting extra time and messing up your schedule for the schedule of the establishment, and basically being told your lying about the experience. Anyways my fiance and I are doing well and have been many other places and none have been bad!!! This place just really was that terrible!!! Hopefully they have found they strange chocolate eating staff member I'm sure there had to be more than one occasion that happened and handled them and hopefully they have learned to manage their schedule better to fit customer needs but even so I will not be taking anymore chances at...
Read moreExcellent stay. My husband booked this trip for me as a respite stay and it met all the standards and then some. From delicious home-made breakfasts, to top-notch linens with a cozy atmosphere. I feel blessed to have found this place when it was exactly what I needed. The White Oak Inn has excellent reviews and very happy clients and I can see why. The inn keepers are professional and really enjoy what they do. The chef Yvonne is very talented and skilled in the kitchen. My favorite was the Spanish torta, and warm muffins where the butter just melts off. Ian was wonderful and always had coffee ready made early in the morning for us early risers. Their servers were also wonderful, and Yvonne was present the dishes before every meal (which I found to be very professional-like a true chef). The bed was so comfortable I had to set an alarm when I napped. I could not recommend a better trip if you are riding as a couple, solo or girls weekend. Its close to many things including Amish country (Millersburg and Berlin), and also nearby Mt. Vernon (if you are need of shopping on a Sunday). There are also local trails to get exercise. The drive in either direction was beautiful and very relaxing. Their dog and kitty cat are always roaming around, and as an animal lover myself, it made me feel at home. I was able to work on some reports downstairs in the den with my laptop and had no issues with WIFI. I was also able to get WIFI in my room (I have Verizon, and only used it for looking up Google searches, and listened to Christmas music on Spotify). It might be slower in my room, however it works! I stayed in the Oak Room. It was very relaxing and quiet even with what seemed to be no vacancy (all rooms seemed booked). Everyone was very respectful of noise and space. I was also able to catch up on so much reading. This is exactly what you need if you are in need of a quiet, restful, romantic and cozy getaway. I'm looking forward to booking the cabin with my husband soon! If you are wondering if you should book, just do...
Read moreThe White Oak Inn is the definition of a hidden gem in Ohio. It is way off of the beaten path in one of the quietest and most serene areas of Amish country. The property is beautiful to walk around, have a picnic, or just sit outside at. Everything is extremely well maintained and clean; in fact the best kept B&B style accommodation I have ever stayed at. I can't speak to the rooms at the inn itself, but the separate cottages offer a fantastic romantic getaway for couples. They are rather large and feature a large jacuzzi tub and a private back patio. But the pinnacle of the White Oak Inn is its food. The dining room really takes you to a wonderful and cozy environment which is topped off with fantastic country-style breakfasts and absolutely delicious 4-course dinners. The food here is worth the stay on its own, in addition to the lovely environment that the White Oak Inn offers. Seriously, I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful the dining experience here is. It is a dry county, so bring your own wine! But they will serve you everything you need to enjoy your alcohol at no charge. The dining service is impeccable and the staff are so friendly, especially the hosts Yvonne and Martin. I really cannot say enough good things about The White Oak Inn, it is a very unique experience like no other. The only disappointment for me was the lack of wifi at the property. It is really only available in one room inside of the inn and is most likely DSL or dial-up given its slow speed. That being said, this partly adds to its charm in that you have no choice but to enjoy the property or your partner's company. Do not fret though, a 5 minute drive up the main road will bring you right back into cell service if desperately needed. All told, if you are simply looking for a beautiful place to stay in Amish country or if you are looking for a cozy, romantic getaway, the White Oak Inn most definitely will...
