Perfect Getaway!

My girlfriend and I live in the Cleveland area and were looking for a place to get away from the city for some peace and quiet. Possum Lodge turned out to be perfect.

First of all, Nancy was so sweet and accommodating. She told us exactly how to get there (listen to Nancy...not your GPS...lesson learned.) She gave us tips on where to go in town for supplies (T&J Gas N Go in Freeport has everything you need), places to eat, things to do nearby, etc. She even had bundles of wood waiting for us on the back porch when we got there.

Honestly, I was expecting your average hunting cabin. Possum Lodge was far from it.

The pictures really don't do it justice. It is secluded, but you won't be roughing it in any way, shape or form. The cabin was immaculate. There's easily space for 8-10 people to stay comfortably (plenty of parking too). The kitchen is fully equipped and there's a nice grill on the back deck. There's satellite TV with all the movie channels. Fireplace was amazing, and I was glad that it wasn't the only means of keeping us warm; the cabin has a furnace and central air. There's a ton of land and places to hike close by, so the washer and dryer proved to be especially useful.

We went in the winter but will definitely be back when the weather clears, the huge bar on the back deck overlooking the woods and a big fire pit in the yard beg to be used...

We left a day early, dirtiest cabin we've ever stayed at !!! All the basics ...kitchen counters, dining room table, dressers etc had food scrapes or Dust. Animal skins used as doilies under lamps had stains and cigarette holes in them. Very OLD decor, the couch and loveseat had VERY OLD material covers on them. I had to put sheets over them to feel comfortable sitting down. Just about EVERYTHING in kitchen needs to be replaced, they had no glasses just plastic colored 1960's era cups. Utensils, pots, pans , oven unusable !!! Bedspreads and pillow covers cheapest material I've ever seen, we just took more sheets to cover with. Outside had just lovely furniture, dirty and ripped stuffed chairs. Metal chairs with pads stained and old table to filthy to think about eating at !!! Last but not least... when you first walk in the door they have two ceiling fans going at warp speed ... with the sun shining in you get to see all kinds of dust blowing around !!! $200.00 a night should be...

Possum lodge is a picturesque cabin with total privacy surrounded by beautiful woods with an easily hiked path throughout. We enjoyed a 3 day weekend at the end of September. Calm, quiet, mornings on the large porch, evening by the fire pit were very relaxing! A gorgeous sunset in the evening and a sky full of stars at night. All essentials were provided. The cabin was very clean and the furniture comfortable. Grill and fireplace ready to use. Everything was so charming and cozy! Clean and comfy. Warm and dry even when it rained an entire day! We had the opportunity to meet the man who built and tends to the cabin. We enjoyed talking with him as well as Desiree prior to our stay. Nice friendly people! We have stayed in another cabin before but this is our favorite and we will definitely be returning! Thanks so much!...
