Jesse Owens State Park - Hook Lake Campground — Hotel in Caldwell

Beautiful place to take your kids fishing and camping. My oldest caught his first fish it was all over a great experience with the family. But the reason for only 3 stars is bc of the rude family nearby letting there kid scream and cuss repeatedly and when my wife politely asked for them to mind there language they wanted to cuss and call her names. Completely insane free camping experience. Homeless, trash, fighting, mud, bugs, crazy drunk old man camp host that has no business being a camp host at all. Poor guy kept falling out of his motorized wheelchair and had to pick him up a few times. Nice enough guy but after hours when the crazies came out he would be passed out sleeping in his trailer. This park is very safe and clean, and easy to access. In order to Camp here, all you have to do is print out a permit online, and sign and date it. Each camping plot has a picnic table, a place to park, a patch of grass to set up a tent or park an RV, and a fire ring. Hunting and fishing is allowed with proper licensing .The lake is beautiful in the morning. The only downside, is there is absolutely no cell reception and the public restrooms are very stinky.
