A wonderful place to stay with a variety of accommodations ranging from small cabins, mobile homes, covered wagon tents, and RV sites. Fire pits and outdoor yard furniture provided at each cabin or mobile home rental along with roomy driveway. We stayed in a cabin which was not only ambiatic but clean and had amenities from tv, Wi-Fi, heating, microwave, fridge and kitchen sink and cabinets/counters, coffeemaker, comfortable furniture, nice walk in shower with fold down bench, vaulted ceiling, pine interior, ceiling fans, and interior privacy sliding doors. You just have to provide your own linens and dishware. This resort attracts the off road crowd and many families and friends meet up filling the generous RV area especially on weekends during off-roading season between October through April. There is a restaurant. There are side by side off road vehicles to rent along with trails behind the housing to ride off road vehicles. There is even a mechanic to contact should your off road vehicle have issues. The hot springs heat 3 pools, acrylic tubs, cement 2 person tubs, and large cement body bowls. The water does not exceed legal temp limit. Public bathroom is on site at the hot spring area with pools and those showers are heated with the natural hot springs water. High winds can sometimes affect the hot springs water temp cooling it down. The hot springs area has more of an open public and social feeling rather than private and meditational in case you're seeking quiet soaking. This is not that kind of setting unless you hit it up when there are less people there. That would be on the weekdays. Scenery is wonderful as it is close to foot of rugged mountainscape and dark evening skies provide excellent stargazing. It looks out on Salton Sea. Location is great as it is close to accessing various off-roading destinations and any sites to see along the Salton Sea. It is right up the road from Bombay Beach and Salt Creek Beach, etc. We ventured out on day trips for 3 days stationed here and were far from bored. It was a comfortable place to come back to at the end of the day. No complaints and highly recommended. Very outdoors feeling away from development out in the desert country tucked up against magestic rocky range. Staff is wonderfully efficient and knowledgeable as well as friendly and...
Read moreThis is for the planners out there: If you read this AFTER COVID-19 skip to the next paragraph. The Sassy's kitchen/diner is closed, plan your meals accordingly. The kitchen situation in the cabin isn't a big deal usually when the diner is open. You can supplement picnic foods in the cabin with more hearty meals at the diner. But it's a serious planning detail when the diner is closed and there are few solutions at the shop/office. Your only recourse is to drive 20 mi to Niland for Buckshots Deli, or cook for yourself in a limited space. If you plan on cooking it will be in a microwave, over a fire pit, or on whatever electric device you bring (a griddle, toaster oven, whatever). They do provide a two cup coffee pot and a few styrofoam cups, little hotel soaps, and a broom.
I don't think the website really spells it out because it has standard information for normal business parameters. The cabins don't have a kitchen for cooking real meals. They do have basic furniture, a microfridge situation, a bathroom, and a sink. Plan on bringing literally everything you need, ie: dishes, flatware, paper towels, cleaning products (disposable or otherwise). The website warns to bring your own bedding and towels, which are not provided. You may want to consider extra towels for a bath mat, or rug at the door/sink/bed as it suits you. There is a rack for hanging jackets/clothing but you'll need to bring your own hangers for use.
There is a fire pit and picnic table at each cabin, outdoor lighting is slim, so you may want an extra lantern.
The pool/hot springs area is very nice. There is a shower/bathroom built next to it to rinse before and after if you want to. It doesn't really matter how cold the weather is at night or winter, the water is always really warm. Bringing an outdoor portable speaker is a great idea to bring with you to the pool as well.
It's a very dog friendly environment, but be sure to bring lots of poop bags. There are lots of ATVs and motorbikes that you don't want spreading that around if you leave it lie.
Overall this is a good RV park close to places to play in the desert, with indoor trappings like plumbing and electricity. Just pack...
Read moreMy family and our friends and relatives have been coming to this place for about 4 years. We typically have at least 3 RV and sometimes as many as 6. And we absolutely LOVE it!! We are into off-roading and have had bikes, SXS, quads and Jeeps out there with us. The owners, Cal and Roslyn, have made this place a mecca for off-roading enthusiasts and they have done it very well. Bashfords and Fountain of Youth are where other people go to crochet or play checkers, do you catch my drift? They do not allow off-roaders to unload their stuff. Cal and Roslyn bend over backwards to take care of their guests. We have logged many miles on the hundreds of miles of trails that are accessible right from your camp site! Then came back after a great ride through the amazing wild desert scenery and cool places like Hotel California, the Miners Shack, Red Canyon, Oasis, etc., etc., and then have a bite at Sassy's Cafe. The food a very good and the staff are always polite and eager to provide great service... THEN the hot mineral spring spas and pools.. Talk about taking the edge off!!! There are some folks who simply do not know how to have a good time and look for every possible way make everyone else miserable then complain when the staff and management do everything they can to make them happy and then flame the hard working people in their reviews. We prefer those people stay away from our favorite place. They can go to Fountain of Youth and hang out. Cal and Roslyn and their staff are exceptional people who's primary goal is for their guests to have an exceptional time. They over deliver as far as I am concerned. So check it out when you have a chance. I am 100% confident that if you like riding/off-roading in the desert, you will be very happy...
