During a recent visit to Saint Francis University, my wife and I spent 2 nights in the Seaside Room of The Fairview Bed and Breakfast in Ebensburg PA. What a cozy place! Melissa and her mom were so warm, friendly and accommodating. They even set the push-button door locks to my cell phone number so I wouldn't forget the combination.
The king-sized bed in the Seaside Room is VERY comfortable. The shower was hot, and the nautical appointments in the room reminded me of the Jersey shore, where I'm from. This room also has a small refrigerator if you have the need for one, and it had some chilled bottled water in it when we arrived. Unlike typical motels, we weren't charged for consuming that water - a nice treat.
The breakfasts were also great. The coffee was strong, just as I requested, and the dishes were freshly cooked and tasted terrific. Believe me, we left the table feeling we had eaten way more than we should have as they did not skimp on portions. Snacks, coffee, hot water, tea, juices, etc were available 24/7.
One caveat - apparently the Cambria County Fair is held once a year, and the fairgrounds are located directly across the road from the Fairview (I guess there is a reason why it is named The Fairview). Anyway, the county fair can get pretty noisy at night, so if you're planning a stay at the Fairview in early-September, be sure to ask for a room on the back side of the Inn so your room does not face the road and fair. The back side of the Inn is peaceful and quiet.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay and a terrific experience at a location that was perfectly situated just outside of the town of Ebensburg and only a short drive from St. Francis University. From now on, all of my visits to St. Francis will include a stay at The Fairview Bed and Breakfast. Thanks Melissa and...
Read moreWow, where do we begin. What a great place. The rooms are quite large and very clean, the dining room is huge, the grounds are expansive. We stayed in the seaside room. The bed was so comfy that we weren't looking forward to sleeping in our own bed when we got home. There's a lot of history here from starting as a boarding school, to being transformed to a nursing home, then apartments and finally after 3 years of renovations the B&B. The B&B is very close to downtown and all the great things Ebensburg has to offer. All this being said it's not the building that makes this such a great place, it's the owners and their family. Rose and Jim are great! Rose prepared our breakfasts with my dietary restrictions in mind all without a second thought. Rose and Jim were like our very own personal local guides helping to direct us as to where to go and where not to go. They graciously offered their suggestions on various sites to see, how best to get there and when it was best to go. We started out as strangers and left feeling like family. Thanks so much for helping to make our 40th wedding anniversary get away a wonderful experience! God's blessings to you and...
Read moreClassic American décor w/hosts who also carry those founding values in how they treat their guests. Great attention to detail - very comfortable beds. The bathrooms were modern and clean with hot water, shampoo, soap, hair dryer, etc. The place was decorated for Christmas and treated us like family. The hallways are roomy, the little game room with TV is excellent, the front porch seems nice - too cold when we visited to use it. The breakfast was classy and refined, but homey. Coffee and tea was always available and you could come and go as you pleased - with their provided codes for all doors (the place is secure). Quaint, but completely modern and renovated to current standards … meaning, it doesn't feel like some B&B's: like a house that got let go. Highly recommend both the building and its owners - good value. Plenty of parking with wide doors and accessible rooms on the...
