So, although I would consider this a hybrid B&B as you are not going to a central place to have breakfast/wine/snacks which is prefect for my wife and I as we are not B&B people.... ||||The king room is big, and as Eleanor walked us through the room, showing us how things worked, making sure that we had food, recommendations on where to eat, and moreover, just makings feel welcome. We never had a chance to meet Bill, but he has written some interesting books (which a couple were in our room), and I am sure he would have been a good host (as Eleanor was)... As we were let in our room, there was all kinds of snacks for us to eat and a bottle of red wine in the room... outside on the patio, was a small refrigerator which was also filled with juices, morning food (muffins, hard boiled eggs, almond milk..ect.) also toaster and microwave...just about everything that you would want to make for a wonderful stay... the king bed was so comfortable, and the attention to detail in what are the amenities blew us away... there was just nothing that was not thought of, and if there was something, I have no doubt all I would have had to do is ask, and it would have been taken care of. I did look through some other reviews before I wrote this as I was interested in how anyone could not give this 5 stars.... in reading them, I would suggest you ignore them as just go with all of us who are in out right minds and giving Her Castle 5+ rating...... our many thanks...
Read moreWe stayed 3 nights at Eleanor and Bill's lovely bed and breakfast in Cambria on the occasion of our anniversary. Very comfortable, clean room (we stayed in the Queen room, which has a king-size bed). Eleanor has clearly put a lot of thought into the rooms being well-stocked with everything one might need. We enjoyed the furnished outdoor deck...a perfect place for sitting and reading while listening to the fountain burble away.||Her Castle is just a few minutes drive to downtown Cambria or the awesomely beautiful Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. Also a decently short trip to Hearst Castle and the elephant seal viewing beach.||What could make it even better? Perhaps moving the rack of local tourism brochures to outside the room (a little distracting). Also, maybe arranging breakfast so items can be ordered ahead for each day as wanted, along with a place to pick up clean dishes and drop off the used ones.||All in all, a very worthwhile stay at a top notch place. We...
Read moreThis was our 2nd time at Her Castle. Bill and Eleanor are wonderful hosts. We arrived and were able to park our car in the drive way and were welcomed like old friends. The room is spacious and the fridge is filled to the brim with all kinds of foods. On the table we found some scrumptious scones and a bottle of wine and fresh cut roses. We were celebrating my birthday, but I had not mentioned it on my booking. Eleanor went upstairs to get a nice "Happy Birthday" sign out to hang it on the wall. There is always plenty of coffee from a Keurig machine and extra bottled water as well as a variety of teas. The bed is very comfortable. It is a very quiet place in a nice off the beaten path neighborhood, however, it's just a short drive to town or to the ocean to walk along the cliffs of...
