This place is a hidden gem. Me and my wife stumbled upon it casually trying to find a spot to stay. I'll also add that the pictures on their website don't tell the complete story. I'm posting one I took during the sunset. In any case, I'll note a few points that you may find helpful. First, the cabins are well supplied - pots and pans, dishes, chopping board, kitchen knives, silverware, tongs, fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, a simple charcoal grill. So bring your breakfast items, coffee, your favorite meat to grill, charcoal (we just got the instant light ones), and lighter. Maybe also some cooking oil in case you want to fry some eggs. I'll recommend that you grill/cook since a) it's amazing with the view b) this place is far from any restaurants. We drove from St Louis and filled out an old amazon cardboard box with most of the above, and got the meat and charcoal from a local grocery store in Camdenton. Second, they don't give kitchen or bath towels, so remember to bring your own. Third, feel free, and I'll highly recommend, to rent a boat to see the lake. We got a waverunner for 2 hours and used it to ride 30 miles around the lake. Prices are decent and they are nice people. It was my first experience and I loved it. My wife had tried it on "better locations" like Miami Beach and thinks this was way better experience. Of course, the major difference being the waves. People also bring their own boats. Finally, we saw a lot of deer, so be careful driving around...
Read moreThis was my wife's and I second stay at Val-E-Vue. I have some physical disabilities and use a walker. We rented a pontoon boat for 4 hours and cruised the lake. Mike had the boat brought up to the dock gang plank. They held the boat tight to the dock so that I could board walker and all. Did the same upon our return! Mike, Kim & Hanna have an awesome sense of humor, are very personable, are over the top accommodating, and this facility is pet friendly as well! Our room well surpassed my wife's scrutiny. She commented just how clean our cabin was and how well stocked and equipped the kitchen was. That's a huge compliment coming from my wife! More so than any other resort I have ever stayed at. I'm 65 years old, and I have averaged staying at these family style resorts twice a year since I have been very young. These family style resorts such as Val-E-Vue are unfortunately becoming a thing of the past like so many other really good things. They are being replaced by housing project type condos with 80 slip boat docks and way too many stairs with no family atmosphere. I highly recommend Val-E-Vue Resort on the quieter side of the lake!
P.S. I can not see in any way Mike hitting a dog or displaying anything other than a professional demeanor towards a customer. Unless, of course, someone displayed some serious over the top...
Read moreWe LOVE Val-e-vue!!! The condos/cabins are always clean and very well appointed. They are not fancy, but they are perfect for a family, or in our case, a couple, wanting to spend time at the lake.
The staff at Val-e-vue and the marina are wonderful!
I cannot recommend this place enough! Great location on the Lake and easy to get to off of hwy 5 and close enough to town. The 4th of July fireworks on Friday and Saturday night were amazing just sitting outside our condo. We've stayed in 1C and the 2 bedroom cabin up off the water and I would recommend either depending on the size of your group.
One note is to bring paper towels. That was the only thing we didn't have, but was easy to buy a roll from Ballantyne's (the gas station down the road).
Thank you for a great weekend- we can't wait...
