Canton Inn — Hotel in Canton

I was referred to this hotel by a local resident after explaining a horrible situation with another hotel in town. I wasn't sure if I wanted to stay in this town or head to a larger town where I would have more options...however a storm was heading our way and I didn't want to have to drive back in the storm 40 minutes to meet with a client, so I thought I would give it a shot.

When I arrived onsite I did ask the manager if I could see the room before I booked it, as mentioned above I had had a bad experience the night before with another local hotel...the managers could not have been more accommodating and hospitable.

I was shown two different rooms, and though the furniture was older, the room was absolutely perfect...in addition to having a table and chairs plus a desk for me to work at, I would have a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffeepot....the best part though was the cleanliness of the room.

I gladly walked back to the office to book my room for the night at this location. When I am in the area for business, this is the only hotel I will stay at from here on out.

Also, I should mention that after I arrived back home, I did get a call from Harry the manager checking to see how my stay was.

I don't think in (no, make that I know) I have NEVER received a call from a hotel asking me about my stay, "just because."

We were recently in Canton, Illinois for business and heard about the Canton Inn. I had seen a couple of other places in the area and I was referred to Canton Inn by a couple of people in the community. During my stay I realized why Canton Inn has earned such a great reputation. The manager, Harry, was warm and gracious upon my arrival and check-in. I found that the price I paid was very reasonable. I could have paid much more at other places but why? When someone can get the amenities and comfort at a reasonable price, it is well worth it! The rooms include cable TV on a flat-screen LCD, refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, an iron with ironing board and free breakfast in the morning. Wi-Fi is also free and was definitely a highlight of my stay! The signal was very strong and powerful...Harry had mentioned about an upgrade to faster and better quality Internet. It looks like Canton Inn is in the process of a major renovation. There is new carpet in the room and the bathroom was renovated just about a week ago, with nice big porcelain tile surrounding the tub and a new ceramic tile floor with new fixtures as well. Canton Inn, you did an excellent job in color selection as the new bathroom looks fantastic! Harry also mentioned that after the bathroom project is completed in all rooms, he soon will begin painting all the rooms to give them a new look. I booked a room online a few hours before we got to the hotel and the website said they had a few rooms available and one was a California King so I booked that room and paid for it already before we got there so we would for sure have it. We get to the hotel and the lady at the front desk said that the website wasn’t right and that they don’t have any rooms like that available and gave me a standard room with two beds and told me they were the same price but when I looked online I found that it was $20 cheaper than what I paid for. So I went back into the office and she said I had to cancel my reservation and she would give me the room for the right price. I’m from Kansas so my service was being kind of slow while I was trying to cancel my reservation. Throughout me trying to do this whole process on my phone the lady kept mumbling to herself “oh she can’t read” and “oh she don’t know how to read” and rolling her eyes. I canceled my reservation and told her that I would find a room somewhere else, she then got very upset and said “Why? You’re already here I’ll give you the room just pay for it” to which I replied “thank you but that’s ok I found a room somewhere else” but she was not very happy and kept saying that I should just get a room here because I’m already there and to just do it.
