This is a review about the Wedding Venue Oyster Farm @ kings Creek Marina. The perfect wedding venue that has it all. Bay, Beach, lodging, marina, restaurant and venue. Casual or sophisticated. The Bay views are spectacular for dining and for the wedding.. Christy, venue manager-everything person, has her hand in all aspects to assure everything is what is wanted. She is incredibly knowledgeable and knows her stuff. She demands a perfect day from her staff. Even when weather wasn’t on our side, she got it all together and on time under the Marina and my daughter was very pleased with the outcome. The rain came but Christy did such a great job that it wasn’t impactful for the day. Everything was exactly what my daughter had envisioned. We can’t say enough great things about the overall experience. We think that they have it all as a destination spot. Cape Charles is an adorable bay town which adds to the overall experience. We rented all the villas and family stayed on the grounds. The villas can sleep a number of people depending on the villa, kitchens are stocked well and even provide coffee. The pool is right outside the villas. The Marina bar is open at night to gather and the pool is great to relax.

We stayed at The Coral from Friday, August 29 to Sunday, August 31 and unfortunately experienced numerous issues that made our stay uncomfortable and unsafe. Despite multiple emails and calls to The Oyster Team, we have yet to receive a response. During our stay we found: -Cockroaches in the master bathroom -Broken tiles and missing grout in the master bathroom -Peeling paint and ceiling cracks in the bathroom -Jetted spa only operable from the breaker, with brown iron discoloration coming from the jets (which had to be wiped off our son and the tub) -Non-functioning ice maker -Broken deck boards at the house entrance and around the marina pool area (loose and hazardous) -Rusted bar stools with paint chipping off -Couch cushions with visible stains Given the number and severity of these problems, we left before the end of our reservation and requested a full refund. To date, The Oyster Team has not responded. We’re extremely disappointed by the lack of communication and maintenance. Potential guests should be aware of these issues before booking.

Nicely maintained docks and grounds. Pleasant and helpful staff. Relaxing views and area. Would recommend this to other boaters. It is a bit of a walk to town to get to any shops and restaurants. They do not rent any bikes or golf carts. The C Pier has a lovely and fun vibe with raw bar food and drinks on Friday nights. A couple of things to make this more worthwhile on a holiday weekend would be to offer periodic golf cart shuttle rides to town and maybe more hours with the CPier open. It’s such a beautiful venue, it could attract more people on the long weekends.

I have to agree with the review from a couple weeks ago, below. This is a nice marina in a beautiful creek, near a fantastic town. This Maria could be a home run. Unfortunately, it is not a well run Marina.

Making a reservation was difficult. They aren’t on Dockwa and their website didn’t work. It’s online now, but it still provides a Welly little information and you can’t make reservations through it. We had to send emails to get reservations, and we had to follow up. It took a long time just to get a reservation booked. It’s 2025, get on Dockwa or allow reservations from your website. Not everybody wants to do that, of course, but make it available for those to do.

As for the grounds, they are beautiful. The marina is new enough that it is in great shape. However, it’s a large Marina and if they don’t have more staff quickly, they will not be able to keep it in good shape. As mentioned, the pool was very small. That’s OK, it’s a marina pool. However, the water was very cloudy and green. I was surprised people were actually swimming in it. There are no umbrellas around the pool, so you’re out there in the middle of the field with no shade. One of our fellow travelers looked in a dock box at the pool for some umbrellas, instead she found a pool test kit. She tested the pool, as she has experience with this, and found there was no chlorine in the water and the alkaline levels were sky high. Bad sign. This was clearly an unhealthy pool and probably would have been shut down by the locality if they came by to test it. I don’t blame the dock hands, however, as I said this marina is woefully understaffed. And I don’t think anyone at the top really has an eye for the processes that are necessary to run a Marina. This was two weeks after the review below and the pump out (mentioned in that review) still didn’t work. There was no gas. Fortunately, we take diesel. Only one of the two diesel pumps worked. The price on the fuel pumps was wrong and there was no way to pay for fuel at the fuel dock. The dock hand took a picture of the pump and when we checked in, another dock hand handed the marina manager a torn corner of paper that had our gallons on it so that he could enter it in to the computer. Now, the young dock hand at the fuel pump was very helpful and gave us our slip assignment. He did not have the slip assignment for our companion boat, however. And there was no one in the office to give them their slip assignment. So they just had to pick a slip near us and hope for the best. There were no dock hands available to help docking (the only one they had was at the fuel dock).

Approaching this marina is always a challenge, but we were told the approach was dredged last year. In fact, the approach was fine. Unfortunately, we were also told the dredging stopped about one marker before the marina. We found that to be correct as our 4 foot drafts were kicking out mud as we approached the fuel dock and approached our slips. Seems like it would’ve been a good idea to have them dredge just a little bit more. Definitely not a marina for you if you draw more than 4 feet.

Inside the office, the highly promoted ship store seemed to be stocked with things that didn’t sell in the past. It was not a good marine store. We found humor in that the only souvenir T-shirts were from an event back in 2023. The office itself was a mess. Mail and paperwork were all over the long counter, and all sorts of papers were on every horizontal surface behind the counter. Again, no sense of organization or knowledge of how to run a business, much less a Marina.

On the positive side, the restaurant at the marina was good and the service there was great. Our stay was still fun, because Cape Charles is a great little town to visit. We would love to come back, but we can’t until we see lots of reviews proclaiming changes at this marina. This Marina could be a gem but it’s not even close, it’s so poorly run. And that’s too bad because older comments make it sound like this was a nice...

Won't be a repeat destination for us. Good for boat; lacking for boaters. Pros: Cape Charles is worth a short visit. The town is very small but cute with a nice beach. It's easy to bike or walk to town from this marina. Very nice and helpful staff, good floating docks, easy access to water, electric. Well-protected location. Showers large and beautiful - could use more dressing area outside of showers. Only one small bench. Well-stocked marina store. Mostly friendly regular marina users (although first couple of times through the gauntlet of dock hangers can be intimidating). Cons: The marina is huge; could be a long walk to showers, pool, trash and office if you're at the end of a pier. Free bikes in very poor condition - missing chains, flat tires. Staff was using all the good bikes because the place is so huge. Biggest disappointment was the pool. Postage stamp size - tiny and crowded. It was not appealing at all. No bathrooms that I could find in vicinity of pool . . . We didn't go near it. Advertising "shopping" is minimal although the marina store is well-provisioned for repairs, fishing,...
