DON’T STAY HERE- ESPECIALLY IF YOU NEED MORE THAN 4 cabins/sites. This koa looks super nice however I will never stay at this location due to the people who run it. I was midway through making reservations when the sites sold out for what I needed to accommodate my group (I checked beforehand to make sure they had what I needed available). Because it’s their winter season no one is in the office and all the info I could find only included this number that led to a message saying no one was there and to go to the website to find any info. After spending about an hour scouring the page I ended calling another KOA that were super helpful and told me how to go about cancelling (by email). ||Fast forward to about 8 hours later I received a dismissive email back stating that they would have cancelled my reservations anyway because they don’t accommodate parties of more than 4 sites. (We needed 6) and that I would be charged a $10 cancellation fee for each of the sites. I asked her where it stated anything about the number of sites booked. It’s al the way at the bottom under the info tab btw. It didn’t even cross my mind to have to look for that since I wasn’t looking for a group site. Plus I had talked to like 3 other KOAs in the past week explaining my situation with the number of sites we needed etc and all were more than willing to be accommodating for me. Not 1 mentioned anything about any site limits. We were paying for 3 cabins and 3 RV spots! It’s a family get together with my 78 yr old parents and my siblings (all in our 40s and 50s) and our kids. We all live in different states and Covid has prevented us from seeing each other this past year. Nothing crazy. And I don’t get it. Money is money I thought??! Whether it’s people who know each other or don’t know each other, it’s the same amount of profit for them. 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ I also think it’s unacceptable to charge a cancellation fee when someone is midway making a reservation and cannot even compete it before sites sell out. (I was only 3 sites in). I am just so upset and think it’s poor business practice to be dismissive to the customer. Things aren’t always black and white and I think they should have handled...
Read moreWe stayed in Cabin #7 and it was great. It is right on the river and was perfect for 2 of us. There is a bike path that takes you to Carbondale (6 miles) where you can catch the Rio Grande Bike path that goes to Glenwood and also to Aspen. If you ride towards Aspen, you will ride through a wildlife preserve just outside Carbondale. It is beautiful and takes you along the Roaring Fork River. My husband fished the Roaring Fork as well as the Crystal River (just up by the bridge north of the cabin)and caught fish both places.|Just so you know, the photos on their website are not exact pix from that unit. There is a concrete pad with a table and chairs for 6, a fire ring, and a charcoal grill. You can bring your own fire wood or buy some from the camp office and they will deliver it to you. The description of the beds in the unit is a little confusing. There is a queen bed in the bedroom, a full bed in the main room with a twin bunk above and a trundle twin below. Since this is a pet friendly unit, you need to bring all of your own linens. This includes sheets, pillows, blankets, and bathroom towels. Also, just FYI, you need to bring shampoo, bath soap, and your own hair dryer. (Not complaining, just letting you know) The kitchen has dishes, glasses, mugs, pans, silverware, bowls, etc. There is a microwave, fridge, gas stove and oven. Also there is a toaster but we didn’t use it so I can’t vouch for it. The only issue we had was that there is a pump that pulls water from the river right between cabins 6 and 7. It is noisy and runs all day. Kinda ruins the ambiance of sitting by the river and listening to nature. We will choose a different unit...
Read moreWe have stayed in this campground in our rv 3 different times in the past few years & highly recommended it to others. Unfortunately, the issue that occurred today at check in has ruined that for us & we will not stay here or recommend it again. We come to Aspen area every fall & this was close and a nice setting on the river. The beautiful river made the drawbacks of lack of phone service & lack of sewer hookups acceptable. We were wait listed for several weeks then called before our trip began & were thrilled when they had just had a cancellation right before we called. We were told it would be either site 11,12,13 or 14, checked their site map & accepted. While not on the river it was within sight distance. She took our reservation. We arrived today after 2 1/2 weeks on the road & were told we had to take a lesser site facing the toilets on one side & a dilapidated wood fence blocking it & nowhere near river. She said someone had gone online & paid $20 to take the site so we were shoved off to an unacceptable one ( when we were waitlisted we said we would not take a site by the toilet/shower house). We were given no chance to pay the $20 ourselves, nor were we warned of the change. It is site 12 ( still empty an hour ago) as the other 3 already occupied. We hope the $20 is worth it, if that is in fact the true reason, as they will have lost our business and others as a result. We are stuck ending our birthday vacation in a bad location & on a bad note because of their inflexible attitude. This is so discouraging after years of good experiences...
