Over the past 35 years, my wife and I have enjoyed many Bed and Breakfast Inns around the country. We've had some average experiences and some great ones. Our stay at the Vintage Inn at Veritas Estates was one of the very best. Located just a short drive or a lovely walk from charming South Haven, Veritas Estates has a surprising "out in the country" feel. It's a place of quiet reflection, warm conversation, and satisfying rest. Our hosts, Sherry and Tim, were welcoming, friendly, always willing to chat about wine, food, chickens, and life in and beyond South Haven. They truly seem to love what they do and go the extra mile to make their guests feel at home. Chef Tim pours his love of good food, fresh produce, and cooking into growing and creating some of the best breakfast dishes I've ever had. And yes, they serve the freshest eggs possible, gathered from the brood of hens wandering their property. Sherry handles the baking and made sure we started each morning with delicious pastries. Be sure to try the scones! Sherry is the Vintner and the sommelier, and provides the personal touch to the excellent wines she produces. My personal favorite is the Tannat, but you'll find a wonderful selection to choose from. We enjoyed the "Bordeaux" room, and found it quaint, tastefully decorated, and well equipped. The mattress was very comfortable, not too soft-not too firm (and I'm very picky about mattresses!). The property was one of the best treats of our stay. Tim's well-maintained veggie garden, the beautiful flowers growing all around, and the spots for sitting and taking it all in that dotted the yard made it a wonderfully peaceful place to leave behind our busy lives and catch our breath. And then. There are chickens! They are so dang cute and funny! I spent a goodly amount of time just watching them and laughing out loud at their antics. Since it's too late to make a long story short, I must reiterate what a wonderful time we had at this truly special place. I give my highest recommendation!
Thanks, Tim and...
Read moreWe had another chance to spend a few days with Sherry & Tim at their beautiful B&B. We enjoyed a wine tasting with charcuterie board that was wonderful. Sherry's wines are delicious and the breakfasts were out of this world - they never disappoint! We were upgraded to the Champagne room on the third floor - it was spacious, elegant and spectacular. Thank you for this experience! If you're planning a trip to the South Haven area, this is a must stay B&B.
This was our second time in the South Haven area, first time at Vintage Inn at Veritas Estate. We picked this beautiful Inn for its location to the many wineries (just a stones throw away) and close proximity to Lake Michigan. Ok, so I need to also mention that I was curious about Chef Tim per their website and that might have played a part in our decision. I'm not exaggerating when I say you can taste his passion for food in every dish he creates. Breakfasts will forever be boring and disappointing until we return!
Julie & I were looking for a quiet place to relax, unwind and dote on each other to celebrate our 32nd anniversary. Vintage Inn at Veritas Estate was the perfect choice. Tim & Sherry are wonderful hosts. The grounds are immaculate with plenty of garden nook areas to sit and visit or carry on a private conversation. You have to say hello to the chickens!
And the food! My description would fall woefully short of the experience. Chef Tim is a culinary genius. His many years of experience shine in everything that comes to plate - don't miss anything! I know, I mentioned food a couple of times in this review. It was fantastic!
We'll definitely be back - already planning our next adventure(s) in the area. Thanks for making our stay with you an overall...
Read moreWe were looking for a special place to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary in South Haven and discovered the Vintage Inn at Veritas Estates Winery. We stayed in the Champagne Suite for two nights and requested a private anniversary dinner prepared by Chef Tim. We don't know of any other inns in South Haven that offer this option which allows you to dine in beautiful surroundings and not have to drive into town for dinner. The anniversary dinner was exquisite from start to finish- see the menu in the photo attached. Sherry and Tim are the most gracious hosts and made our anniversary one of the nicest and most relaxing we've had in years. The Champagne suite was outstanding with a massive bath with tiled shower and clawfoot tub, king size bed and adjoining room with a desk area and pullout couch. Doug worked from the inn one day and the WIFI performed well for several zoom meetings. The leaded glass windows, gorgeous chandeliers, and abundance of light, while surrounded by treetops, provides a secluded relaxing retreat. The two course breakfasts were as outstanding as the anniversary dinner. Chef Tim's food is some of the best we have ever had. His creativity and attention to detail will not disappoint. Sherry prepared the baked goods which were also amazing. The Inn is located close to downtown South Haven and the beaches but is secluded with mature trees, blueberry fields and recently planted grape vines. We are planning a second trip...
