What a Fantastic Venue, Owner and staff! It took a crazy amount of work on everyone's part to make our dream wedding happen here. The mandatory business shutdowns and the crazy issue of finding anyone to work has taken a real toll on small cities like caseville the past 3 years. The owner Hersel has a massive task in keeping the Bellavista and Sunset resort open at all let alone up to full capacity and his very high standards. My new wife and I had to get down on our knees and beg for 6 months to convince him to open the banquet hall for our Shark Wedding Weekend. We had big ideas but also are very easy going and were open to doing almost anything to make this happen. Hersel was there non-stop. This man must work 100 hours a week. All 100 of our guests now know him personally. He even bartended for 7 hours and gave a short and very sweet speech after dinner. Our wedding was about as non traditional as you could get. Hersel was excited and open to helping us make it all happen. We had a beautiful wedding in the water and on his beach. One of the Halls two air units failed the morning of our wedding. Mind you Hershel let us work 3 days setting the hall up and it was so cold we had to turn the air off a few times. Never did any of us expect the day it failed would be hours before the place was packed for a party. The owner jumped right in and I heard him tell the company that was 45 minutes away he would pay double to have it fixed in the next 2 hours..They came like lightning and changed out a motor..lucky he had two as that one failed as he was driving away. This guy not only raced away from his birthday or anniversary party( dont remember which) he went back a second time to swap another motor. That's a small town service!. There was just enough time before dinner to cool down the room on a 85 degree day. Jan made a fantastic buffet for us and guests raved about the stuffed prime rib, baked chicken & homemade mashed potatoes. She even surprised us with a vegetarian lasagna made cute just for me and my new wife. We are both vegetarians & Hershel's wife gave them a recipe to make us a nice pasta salad as well. Even being stupidly short staffed everyone Hersel had did their best and were super nice to work with.
The guests stayed in very cozy and unique rooms that had awesome views of the lake.
We loved our suite but I cant believe anyone really cares much about more than a clean bed to sleep in when being on a beautiful sandy beach.
To the people that give 1 star reviews for spider webs, mosquitos, flys and all the tiny sand bugs it must be your first time in this area. Next, if you want big city water, guess where you should stay? Hint: it rhymes perfectly with BIG City! Also, Well water in this area has a yellow/orange hue to it and that's from the minerals in the ground it makes it nearly impossible to keep anything it touches from turning a yellow brown color and it also makes things rust. Lastly, sand is everywhere in and around a room so it is kind of silly to try and make it spotless when one trip outdoors tracks it right back in. Should sinks be clean and hair free, mirrors wiped off, functioning air and basics like fridge handles absolutely. Lastly, expecting every room to be packed with items like coffee pots, microwaves, fridge and so on is also a little silly. You don't go to a place like this to hang in the room. Get coffee at the cute blue house down the street and please don't eat microwave food while on beach vacation. I didn't hear one complaint from our 100 guests about the rooms and we have a few picky people but they also understand what to expect.. Beach, Sand, Water, Sunsets.. FUN FUN FUN.

Read moreWe arrived and were shocked at how outdated the 6-person "Penthouse" was. As soon as we walked in, the musty air took our breath away. It was dirty (the contracted cleaning company barely swept), and it was very evident that a deep cleaning had not been done in a very long time-possibly years. We went to the front desk to ask if there was a different room available - maybe one that was updated as we were lead to believe when booking and also based on the website; were told that all rooms all weekend were booked due to the owner's son getting married the next day. Fair enough. They offered for the on-site cleaning staff to go in and clean, as there were several large cobwebs hanging from the ceilings, multiple LIVE spiders in each room, orthodontic bands on the floor, filthy flatware in the drawers, old food in the cabinets, dirty socks behind the TV, and the list goes on and on. We agreed to have them come in and clean, and although they were very nice and came to clean up quickly, they were very fast to point the blame to the contracted company who cleans for them. If I'm paying for a service, I'd be periodically checking to make sure I'm getting my money's worth. It's apparent they haven't done this. At any rate, we had to call them back later on when it was discovered that all of the bedding was visibly dirty...with blood on pillow cases, and balls of hair on the sheets, pillows, etc. Again, they were quick to arrive to remedy the issue, and we are thankful for that.
One thing I noticed, beyond the paint over the old wallpaper that was peeling, the torn carpeting, the filthy cold air return, the old, bent curtain fixtures above the broken blinds, the broken screen door, etc, was that each bed (one queen in the "master", and the two full sized beds in the other bedroom-fully equipped with mattresses that had huge tears in them and the orange foam filling was showing), was that they spent what is likely a lot of money on the throw pillows for each bed. Wouldn't that money be better spent on other things, like upholstery cleaning for the furniture (the recliner in the living room was so disgusting, we were tempted to do them a favor and throw it in the lake)? Or maybe replacing the screen door on the slider? Or maybe pay for an exterminator to come out. I know that this particular unit hasn't been renovated yet, but to overlook some of the very obvious, and cheap remedies seems like a no-brainer.
One thing I wondered...if the entire place was booked up for the wedding, why was this unit available? Did the proposal and planning of the wedding happen in less than a month, or was this room purposely NOT rented out to family and friends of the wedding party because they were ashamed of it's condition?
While we are grateful that a 50% discount was offered, it's highly unlikely we'd ever even consider staying here again - you can only get by on having a friendly staff and beautiful view for so long before the neglect of your property trumps any excellent customer service you can ever dream...
Read moreMy family and I came here for 4th of July week and left 2 days early because we absolutely HATED this place. We came here about 5 years ago and had a great time but something has changed and it has become a TERRIBLE place to stay!! We stayed in Suite 1. There is no room service so you need to go to the office whenever you need towels, toilet paper, or anything for the room. The hotel says that they have free wifi but the wifi signal is non-existent. They shouldn't even bother paying for wifi because nobody can ever get connected and MOST of the time, you cannot even find the wifi signal. The AC did not work our entire time being there. I complained to the front desk more than 5 times in ONE day. They told me they would contact the maintenance man but he never showed up. I complained the second day and they said they would call him - again - did not show up. He ended up showing up the third day because multiple people from different units also complained about their 80+ degree rooms. The owner is a complete jerk and is money hungry. Once you pay for the room, he does not care one bit about your stay; whether it is good or bad. The shower is very small and the shower head cannot get adjusted so you have to stick to the wall just to wash yourself. They say the beds are queen size but that is NOT true. They are full size. Our fridge door seal was loose and the maintenance man told us "Well I don't have a new fridge or a new seal to replace it" and left it at that. The rooms, couch, and chairs were DIRTY!!! The service here is unbelievably rude and TERRIBLE!!! PLEASE LISTEN TO ALL OF THESE COMPLAINTS AND DO NOT COME HERE!!! We left 2 days early (without a refund) because we absolutely hated it!! We are not high maintenance people but you would think for the amount they charge, that this place should have been nothing but great. Well we learned our lesson and will NEVER come back here. We will warn all of our family and friends to not come here as well. You also have been warned!! Don't waste your money!! I would give this place a "0"...
