We stayed at Alsatian RV Resort from mid-Feb thru mid-March (one month total). We were here for the legendary winter storm and frigid cold that crippled Texas! This review will try to take that storm into account.
PROS: The facility was beautiful when new! The sites have concrete drives and pads with grass and nice shrubs. The facility is adjacent to Alsatian Golf Course. There are about 10 sites with casitas, which look over the golf course. The main office building has a small fitness room, and bar-type facility in the lower level which walks out to the pool area. The pool area houses an infinity pool, hot tub, and a large pavilion that overlooks both the golf course and pool. There is a separate building that houses laundry, showers, and restrooms.
CONS: THE POOL IS NOT HEATED IN WINTER!!! The water was well suited for polar bears,. The hot tub was not running about 20 of the 30 days we were there - I believe this was due to the frigid storm causing damage to the tub/plumbing. The pavilion was FILLED with bird poop, making it unusable. The bar-type facility, showers, and restrooms were closed our entire stay.
The staff would tell you the closed areas were due to COVID. But we stayed at another facility less than 20 miles away - right before we pulled into Alsation. That facility's pool was heated, and all their facilities were open.
I don't believe the facility is being kept up to its original standard. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely not in bad shape. But this place looks like it was a 5-star boutique when it was new. It's not quite that anymore, thus my 4-star rating. Careful Alsatian owner(s), or you may start seeing 3-star reviews...
Read moreBeautiful, well-kept park, with concrete drive, long & level slots and immaculate landscaping! My husband and i were very happy with our stay during the first two weeks of April. Lots of nice rigs and many "SnowBirds" that come back annually. The landscaping is immaculate and there's plenty of room between sites. They also landscaped with nice plants to hide the power and sewer hookups. The grass was thick and lush and my dog LOVED rolling around outside. There is a nice hiking trail with fenced dog park in the back, but it was closed and un-mowed during our stay due to "Snake Season." They still had a great area next to the golf course, not fenced, but a great place to take my fur baby to play- complete with creek! here was also a city park a few miles away with a formal dog park but we felt no need to go anywhere else. We did not visit the pool, laundry or restaurant but would imagine it to be in keeping with the rest of the resort. The only CON was that my AT&T phone and mobile hot spot had very poor reception here. I"m told the Verizon Network is awesome and most people travel with "Boosters". The park had plenty of WiFi but like most parks, was slow during peak hours. The staff was awesome and you can tell they take pride in what they do as the resort shows it. Thanks John and Jan- ya'll made us feel welcome- You guys ROCK!!
NOTE TO ANYONE CONSIDERING A LONG TERM STAY: be aware of their cancellation and move out policy.... they do not issue...
Read moreI stayed there for 8 months. The park is beautiful with all concrete roads and level concrete pads but no shade. The restaurant has now moved to the golf course. The food was palatable but overpriced for for an RV park restaurant. There was a beautiful outdoor pavilion there but when I asked about grilling over there and having a few beers, they said no because it would compete with the restaurant so the restaurant had priority over the guests wants.
There are no planned activities and some of the Class A folks referred to the travel trailers and 5th wheels as "ghetto". It's managed by a husband and wife team and while the wife is a beautiful soul but her better half was arrogant.
I was parked next to a trailer that had liquid poop pumping out on the ground and the wind would blow the smell into my trailer. It took 4 trips to him to get it addressed and every time he had an excuse like saying the water was from the sprinklers. Only after showing him a photo and threatening to contact the owners did it get addressed. I heard rumors that he didn't like complainers but I have a feeling many of the complaints arose from his inattention and a lack of action.
I met some great people there and the office staff was always polite and helpful. If they would address staff etiquette it could be a top-notch place. A photo of...
