The Gateway Airbnb — Hotel in Cedar Park

I shared this airbnb with other family members that came into town for a wedding. Before I ended up sharing the airbnb, I had checked out hotels in the area and the airbnb was definitely a better choice both for amenities and price.

There are actually two separate houses on the premises so it is perfect for large gatherings. You have the main house, which is huge and open concept and a smaller "guest" house complete with a smaller kitchen and living area. I only took a quick peek at the "guest" house but I believe there were 3 bedrooms in there.

In the main house there are two video arcades, a pool table, a large living area, a large kitchen with eating bar, a dining table that had 7 chairs, 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms (three of which are ensuite). There is also a two car garage and a large laundry room complete with a washer and dryer.

Outside, there is a large backyard, a pool with a hot tub, and a lounge area. In front, there is space for 4 cars in the driveway plus the garage.

However, nothing is perfect. One of the video arcades was nonfunctional and the pool table was not leveled. A repairman had to come out and fix the dishwasher and some of the kitchen's electrical outlets did not work. There were no kitchen towels or a mop to clean up spills. There was a broom but no dustpan.

While there was an iron, there wasn't a full size ironing board but one of those small table top boards. This seems minor but when you are traveling and want to look nice for a formal function, a full size ironing board would have been helpful. Storage space was not an issue.

The bedroom I was in did not have a window so the door was the only exit. In the bathroom I used the toilet paper roll holder was attached to the end of the vanity and was not within reach. There was a large gap between the vanity and the toilet so I suspect there was originally supposed to be a longer or dual sink vanity.

While amenities such as bath towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash were provided, other things needed to be fixed or refilled, such as the broken soap dispenser on my bathroom vanity and the empty air freshener spray. There were also no washcloths in my bathroom.

Overall, I would give 3.5 stars. The house is gorgeous. To me, most of the negatives were minor putting the rating closer to 4 stars but if you were really looking forward to the video arcades or playing pool, disappointments in this area may push the rating...
