Had never Kayaked the Buffalo River so decided to use the Buffalo River Resort as a shuttle service since we had our own kayaks. We called ahead and asked if we needed to do any type of reservation for our shuttle. we was told no, we just had to come, sign waiver, pay the fee and be shuttled. We arrived approximately 9:15-9:30. there was quite a line outside the building that said "office" The first step was stopping and signing the waiver, then getting in line to wait . Wait is what we did for almost 1.5 hours, there was no shade, until you got on the porch of the office and then it was so crowded because everyone was trying to get up there the heat was stifling. When we got near the front we could tell there was only one attendant taking money and the forms. An excuse they used was for the long wait was because they didn't know they would be so busy, come on it was a saturday following a holiday, and people had already had reservations, called ahead and prepaid. they should of had some type of indication how busy they would be. we was then told where to go to be shuttled. We drove down to the shuttle spot. We gave our ticket to the attendant. we was told there was a large group in front of us and they would take up the entire bus and we would have to wait for the next bus. OK no problem. When the next bus arrived it was to shuttle those that elected to tube. So again we was waiting , . waiting . , , waiting . , , waiting we waited for over an hour. There was little shade, the attendant did offer her little tent for us to stand under but there was many others standing there. The bathrooms was up a ways from the parking/waiting area up a hill that was difficult to climb. Our bus finally came and got our kayaks loaded. they were loading them in the back of the bus by stacking them, If i had a kayak that had a seat that wasn't folded down and another kayak had to be stacked on top of mine i would of been highly upset. ||It was nice to finally be loaded and moving with a breeze coming through the windows. The bus driver (we called him ZZ Top because of his long beard) was quite entertaining, he told jokes & sang - he was the only delightful experience dealing with this company (the attendant with blue hair was nice too and knew everyone was extremely short tempered knowing we had had a long wait). This company needs some help reorganizing to be able to get people through the pay/waiver line. Some people that was standing in that long line had already paid online and was only needing to turn in a waiver. They also need more busses and drivers. The float on the river was nice and a whole different experience. Once the float was over the area we was to come back into was a little dangerous because people was camped along the area was playing in the water. kids/adults were jumping off the bank and swimming in the water. Parents were not paying attention and they were in the way and it is a little difficult for a kayak to paddle against the current to have to wait for children to move so they are not hit. I would enjoy kayaking the buffalo river again but unless this company improves their process I will find someone else to shuttle our kayaks. From the time we arrived until we got our kayaks in the water it was...

Read moreReview based on nothing but facts. I’m going to hold back my true emotions as the facts speak for themself. We’ve used BRR for 6 years now on Memorial Day weekend, but this will be our last trip with them unfortunately. We arrived at 10:40am our 10:45am meet up time with BRR. Got on the bus to go up the river which broke down once for low fuel, so we stopped to get fuel, then it broke down again going up the hill before we reached the river. We finally get to the rental pick up area. We ordered a 6 person raft and our friends ordered an 8 person raft. When we got down to get our rafts, there were no more 8 person rafts left. We were told they had “given them all out” because the people handing out supplies have no tracking of what people have ordered (we were told this by the employees themselves). They were offered kayaks instead of the 8 person raft which my friends politely declined, as we all wanted to be together. They offered cooler floats for their coolers to make more room, but it would be 2-3 hours wait before they could bring them to the river, as they had to “wait for the bus to fill up”. My friends were ultimately told to just ride on the 6 person raft with a promise to be okay, even though they prepaid for an 8 person raft. 11:45am, we finally hit the water. The river it’s self was a great time despite the colder than usual weather! Toward The middle to end of the trip, our friend’s 6 person raft (remember they paid and wanted an 8 person) was deflating BAD. Like I wish I took pictures. They pulled off to a bank and called BRR for advise. They were told to call 911 for help because it was 5:40 pm and everyone left at 5:30 pm (remember, we hit the water an hour late too). SO with most of my friends, including myself, being in the medical field we were NOT calling 911 for this. My boyfriend dropped my group off by the cars and paddled/pulled our raft 0.5mile to get our friends and 0.5mile back to the cars. There was no employees around the assist by the river but we saw multiple people at the office area once we got to our cars and left. TWO DAYS LATER I get charged $108.50 for a “river rescue”. I called BRR 3 times and left messages with no response. I finally filed a dispute with my credit card company as it wasn’t even my group that needed rescuing. I heard back from BRR 5 days after the trip who stated they “realized they charged the wrong person”. I went on to politely inform them of our experience, noting we had been return visitors for 6 years now but that this would be the last trip and I hope no one else had to experience this as well. The lady on the phone literally said “alright I’ll pass it along that you had a bad experience with BRR.” NO APOLOGIES after we trusted them and spent over $600 between the group that day. So just save the hassle and go somewhere else that’s more organized and cares about their returning customers a...
