GreenTree Hotel & Extended Stay I-10 FWY: Houston, Channelview, Baytown — Hotel in Channelview

Stayed at this hotel while I was selling 2 storage units full of my personal belongings from when I previously lived in Texas. Live in another state now but found this hotel on Airbnb site!! From the very beginning it was roaches, bed bugs, prostitution, Drug Dealers, construction workers and truck drivers coming from every corner!! People smoking cigarettes inside the bar right beside the breakfast table, smoking cigarettes in the swimming pool, parties all night under the gazebo full of non guest!! Toward the end everything went from bad to worse!! Guy shot 37 bullets out of his hotel room door and window right across the pool and several bullets hit right beside our room door!! Hotel didn’t call the police, their own security officer didn’t call the police! Nope I had to call and get officers out there to get the situation under control! Shooter was High on Ice and thought he was being robbed!! But then it got worse the entire time I was there the sewer was constantly running onto the ground and straight into the Buffalo Bayou run off creeks!! It overflowed from the underground tank and right through the parking lot!! There are 100’s of RATS everywhere due to the sewer matter all over the ground and parking lot! The creek water is BLACK from the contamination!! Breakfast items wasn’t ordered due to the hotel not paying the grocery bill and so they served hot dogs!! Once I started complaining about the infestation of rats I was told to get out because I had my cat but mind you I had her the entire month and they had all met her several times outside when I would take her out!! I was already leaving anyways to go back home but somehow my cats was an urgent matter and we had to leave ASAP! The police was called by the hotel manager he showed up with no camera, no badge or anything and enforced the check out! Let’s be honest this was about my complaints about the rats!! Several people had multiple cats, there is a cat that lives outside on the grounds and cats are hardly the least of the problem when you consider the prostitution and drug trafficking there!! I booked this room due to our home having no electricity due to the storm. I read the reviews and looked at the pictures online and for the great price I immediately booked! We arrived early and the lady up front (I believe her name was Glenda she was very nice and helpful) asked the cleaning lady if our room was ready which it wasn’t and to come back in an hour. We came back an hour later as I paid and was given our hotel key. As my kids and I were about to head to the room with our things the cleaning lady asked us what room we were going to and I stated “room 233” in which she said “it’s not ready yet” WHAT?? You specifically told us to come back in an hour why was our room not prepared in that time. By this time it’s after 3:00pm and they’re still cleaning the room. NOTHING WAS DONE. The beds were being made while my kids sat there and watched, they didn’t vacuum, they didn’t clean the bathroom (I went in there and hair was all in the tub plus no towels) they didn’t dust…nothing!! The ladies were apologetic and nice though. Also THE ROOM SMELLED LIKE SMOKE! I mentioned it as soon as I walked in the room. I was already tired and exhausted from our hour drive and having no electricity the past few days. This property is more like a motel and the pictures look NOTHING like how they look online! It looks run down from the outside and very outdated on the inside. The positives were the staff ! Every single person was extremely nice. They do have a pool (which didn’t look clean) and a bar/kitchen in the lobby which looked nice. I had a drink at the bar. My allergies were going crazy in the room due to the stench of smoke. I checked out around 9pm the same day we got there (our electricity was back on) I definitely would’ve splurged on a better hotel room! But if you’re on a budget this...

First off, I would avoid this hotel. It’s in a sketchy area and there’s nothing close in terms of good food places or anything other than industrial facilities. Secondly, this is a very old property that needs a lot of work. Plumbing doesn’t work properly (I had to remove toilet cover to get it to flush and sink wouldn’t shut off). Room was moderately clean but not clean by any standard. Pubic hair in the fridge and the floor was filthy. The bed was reasonably comfy and clean and I didn’t see bed bugs, which actually surprised me. The clientele are sketchy - dealing dope and smoking dope. Some noise during certain nights with horn honking and yelling in parking lot. Not sure if they were guests or just people hanging out. I would also avoid all food at this place. They are clearly cutting back and free breakfast is bare minimum. Toast with no butter, a waffle and disgusting eggs or sausage and cereal. Coffee is awful and watered down. The bar is a joke. Went for dinner one night and the one employee was a no show. Then I went another night and ordered pizza. It came out, in a box, haphazardly cut up and shoved in the box. The next day, the pizza came back for an encore and I clearly had food poisoning. Bottom line - not sure how they have any rating in the 4s. Maybe 2 or 2.5. Stay at your own risk. I...
