Red Rose Motel — Hotel in Charlemont

This place ... is WONDERFUL!

I do a lot of travelling in the northeast every summer, and my preference is to find small, locally-owned and operated motels just like this. It's not easy, since many (like Red Rose) are not on Expedia. I happened to notice this place on a recent trip and found them on Google.

Anyway, the owners really, really care about this place and it shows. IT IS IMMACULATE. The "mid-century modern" decor made me feel right at home, because MY HOUSE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE THIS INSIDE. Ok, maybe not exactly. Ours has paneling in every room. But this could EASILY have been MY OWN BATHROOM, right down to the light over the vanity with an electric outlet.

That said, there are modern things like the Roku TV, a microwave and a fridge that is ACTUALLY COLD. Imagine that! Almost never happens when I travel.

The pool was FABULOUS. Super clean and just what I needed after a long day.

The A/C was a bit loud but worked exceptionally well. It's a wall unit, they're noisy. Everyone knows that.

The staff was wonderful, too, assisting with a check-in when the front desk person was away for a bit. All good.

I will DEFINITELY stay here again, and it was ABSOLUTELY worth what I paid for one night (about 50% more than I'm used to!)

The reviews state that the owners are "friendly". This is true. I stayed there with my husband a couple of years ago and he stayed there this week with his brother. No frills but okay. ||BOTH TIMES they DOUBLE CHARGED US! In fact, the first time it was a TRIPLE charge. They admit their error when confronted and the older lady on the desk told me "I don't know how to use the computer." HMMMMMM. They always claim that they backed out the duplicates. When my husband got home I checked and there was a posted charge in the correct amount and a duplicate pending charge in the same amount. I called and once again ignorance was proclaimed as the excuse. I asked my husband not to stay there this time but they ended up there again. When I called the bank they said I would have to wait for the pending charge to drop off maybe 15 days! Magically it disappeared today. Both times they showed him THEIR computer which does not show the dup. I don't care. It showed on MY CREDIT CARD. WATCH THEM. THEY MIGHT BE DUMB LIKE A FOX. The older lady should not be handling credit cards at the very least. At the worst.... well you can draw your own...

I stayed at the Red Rose Motel for almost 2 months while I was in town for work. The hotel is owned by very friendly, helpful, and down to earth people. Best of all its a locally owned family business that's been around for 40+ years!

The accommodations are great in my book, the linens were clean, the room and bathroom were well maintained, and the heater worked great once it got cold outside.

I was on night shift during my stay and the owners were flexible to get me linens, towels and cleaning so I wasn't get bothered while sleeping during the day, and I really appreciated that.

The surrounding area is beautiful, and where the hotel is located is quiet, but not too far away from the towns and tourist attractions.

To sum it all up, the motel is run by great folks, who'll put you in a good room for a fair price, and I'd definitely reccomend staying there if you're in the area looking...
