This was our first time camping at Riffe Lake Campground. We stayed from August 11 thru the 15th, 2024. We were in site T9, which was a peaceful, private site. All the tent sites on lower loop were very private. The grounds were very family friendly, and quiet time was observed by everyone. ||Close to the lake; a small trek, but not bad. Bathrooms/showers clean and nice...even the porta potties! Access to wood/ice avail 24/7. The staff? Very friendly and helpful. The store was closed half the time we were there, (closed sun afternoon, mon and tues) but staff was usually avail to help us with anything we needed. ||We didn't take advantage, but there's places to play volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, and they have a small "bandstand" type area for concerts, etc. (None going on while we were there).||There were plenty of fishing places besides Riffe Lake, which my grandsons thoroughly took advantage of every one, from Swofford Pond, to Lake Mayfield, to Riffe Lake. Lots of wildlife...even seen several deer. ||My only complaint, and why I didn't give it 5 stars? Our site, as private, big, and nice as it was...there was only a small tent area...prob fine for a 2 man tent. But we had a 4 man tent...and a small part of our tent hung over a drop-off. ||Yes, there was plenty of other places on our site that we could have put our tent, but other than that small tent pad, the rest of the site was covered with good sized rock...which wouldn't have been comfortable to sleep on, even with our sleep pads. (But we scoped out the other tent sides on the lower loop and found a few where we will stay at in our next visit).||Overall, we had a great time, and can't wait to come back! I would recommend Riffe Lake Campground to anyone who wants a small, private, and safe...

First off the staffs were very friendly. Shower and bathroom by the office are decent. It is missing two stars for two reasons:

I reserved a site that is supposed to have a 30A outlet but only a normal household 110V outlet was available. I drive an EV so it is a big deal since we planned to visit mount rainier the next day. A 30A outlet would give us enough juice to continue our trip without detouring west to Centralia. We had it plugged in all night anyway and it was able to keep our AC running but without actually charging the car. I know it shouldn't be a big deal for most of the people but it was the only site available and I wouldn't booked it if I knew a 30A outlet is not available. We ended up driving back to Centralia to charge and decided to just go home because it was already late.

The site is mainly gravel and it was very dusty. We were right next to a turn with vehicle going in and out very often. With the wind blowing at us and with everybody having fire around dinner time, there was already a thin layer of dust on basically everything in our first 30 minutes there. Fortunately we had a tent attached to the car and we slept inside the car. The next morning I even found a thick layer of dust on my windshield and it didn't go away until I went up to highway speed.

Other than the reasons mentioned above we think everything else was good. I mean if you don't care about electricity and air quality, this location would be pretty good for you TBH. I see some people complaint about the neighboring noise. Yeah we heard people chatting loudly late around 10-11 pm but since we slept in our car we didn't hear anything afterward. I am sure it would be much quieter if I didn't go during...

Check in was super easy and the staff was nice. Campsite was clean and picnic table and fire pit were in good condition.||||The prices in there store were comparable to those in our town (with exception of the ice cream). They definitely don't price gouge unlike most campground stores. Store also had useful items, not just novelty junk, which was a huge plus. Bags of ice and firewood costs were extremely reasonable. Had ice cold pop and sunburn cream, both which turned out to be necessities.||||Campsite was clean and so were the Portapotties and bathrooms. It was also quiet at night which was a huge plus. Staff was around if you have questions or concerns. Also felt safe staying there, which is again a huge plus.||||Don't get the Riffe Lake campground confused with the MossyRock park run by Tacoma power. This place (Riffe Lake campground) is much more family friendly and quiet. There is not boat access and it is a steep walk down to the water, just be aware. They do rent boats and kayaks if you didn't bring your own. Very short drive to Stofford pond for fishing.||||Had multiple black tail deer sightings, several just walking carefree through the campground. Was an amazing sight to see. Also was a great place to see eagles. We had lots of close sightings of eagles right over our campsite, which was super cool. Plus for our trip there were no mosquitos (July 2021).||||Plan to stay here again and highly recommend it for anyone camping in the area. Not a tourist trap, it is a nice honest family owned/ran...

Beautiful location for campground. Huckleberries where quite plentiful. I should have brought some vanilla yogurt to go along with them, or perhaps some ice cream. Good thing we had awesome neighbor campers that were so ready to include us with their family games! Horseshoes, volleyball, and even a fun game of beer pong! The little store has everything, including wonderful staff! I brought an electric air mattress that required 120v, and they were so accommodating to letting me blow up this queen-sized, 20-in tall sleeping behemoth, using their outlet inside the store! Good thing I brought my super long extension cord. But truly, it was a comedy watching me call back the mattress to my tent site squeezed between my wheel wells of my truck bed. Can't wait to return to this place, perhaps with a battery inverter, tillamook's best vanilla ice cream, and a large colander for collecting and rinsing the huckleberries. Do you think these would go good with pancakes? ;-)

Stayed 2 nights in T-5. Our site was decent but almost couldn't accommodate my large tent. The staff was very nice and helpful They have a large playground for the kids and a horse shoe pit and tetherball. The main attraction is the lake which offers amazing views and clean water for fishing and swimming. The walk to/from the lake is down a steep hill which can be very slippery if wet. I had to haul my paddle board up and down which is difficult but not impossible. Cons: Stinging Nettle around the property be careful walking on trails or off path. Hills: I'm a fairly active person but going up and down the hills during the trip took its toll. Firewood: The firewood provided by the campground was wet and difficult to light. I recommend bringing a duraflame fire starter or something similar. Porta-Potties: The Porta-Potties were very ripe and unpleasant to use. They're cleaned once a week on Tuesdays and unfortunately we stayed on a Sunday and Monday.

Been going here for a few years and each year the place has changed. This would be a positive except the maps are never updated in time when booking. The group sites where cut down, and one nearby us had a new porta porty installed. This could have been done in the gravel but they put it inside one of the group sites. The smell was horrible and where the water is filled, campers dump their sewage. This is in an open drain where people and kids go to get water. Just fecal matter and tissue sitting on the grate. Very disgusting. There are positives, its still a busy place with a playground for the kids, and there are showers. But i fear each year the spots will get smaller, changed, and more cramped to try and rake a few more bucks in. At the very least, the map for booking these sites should be updated. Missing numbers, things flipped around, it has always been a disappointment showing up to find stuff has changed since scheduling the sites.
