I will start by saying that I am a life-long local to the Chelan area. My grandparents bought a home on the lake 70 years ago and my father and many family members are buried at Entiat cemetery. We love Chelan, but we didn't love our experience here.
I'm sure under normal circumstances, Lake Chelan Shores is a perfectly wonderful place. The grounds are well-kept, the condos are right next to the lake, and there are many pools, tennis courts, and other recreational opportunities. Unfortunately, under Covid-19 regulations, gathering more than five people anywhere on the grounds is not permitted, and these regulations are strictly enforced (to a fault, and to the death of common sense). I made the mistake of booking a "staycation" here with my five young children and mother-in-law. The playsets and basketball courts are all roped off, which I expected. What I did not expect is that we would be very rudely scolded by a staff member who came outside and let us know that we could not have more than five people in any of the pool or hot tub areas. I explained that they were my five children and that they needed supervision in the swimming areas. He said that it didn't matter (even though no one else was even there!!), no more than two people in the hot tub area and five people in the pool area, due to health department regulations. He wasn't sorry. He was annoyed that we were not in compliance. If he had actually been sorry and explained in a reasonable manner that things are out of their hands, I would not be writing this review. But he was rude, unkind, uncaring, power-tripping, and totally lacking common sense about a situation that involved young children that needed adult supervision in a swimming area.
There are signs all over the property, even the beach, letting us know that gatherings of more than five people are prohibited. It doesn't matter that we are family. It doesn't matter that they are minors. It doesn't matter that we live in the same house. More than five people, of any age, illegal, period (absolutely discriminatory against families). We cut our losses and left three days early. What's the point of a family vacation if we can't even be together?
Lake Chelan Shores should let people know when booking any and all properties that groups of more than five people will not be allowed to enjoy the property together, and that masked-up staff members (outside! with no one around!) will be there to ensure compliance. I would have stopped by the office to let them know about this awful experience, but there are signs and one-way arrows and dots everywhere telling people when they can and can't enter the office (they ask that you don't even stop by when checking out, but call them). To be honest, I just didn't want to be scolded by another person telling me how unreasonable I am for wanting to enjoy the pool with family. This was a huge waste of money for us and I'm so disappointed in this experience. I just thought other families should know about this very family-unfriendly place. We will not be coming back unless somebody there gets some...
Read moreThe first half day was without any running water. The first call in I was assured that it would be fixed right away and that someone would call me. Two hours later I called back in to see what the status was and was put on hold for 20 minutes with an answer of “our manager isn’t picking up his phone.” We were then forced to go into town for dinner instead of cooking in the house. Multiple toilets were used but had to remain unfleshed, creating an unsanitary and smelly situation. *Multiple shades were broken *Multiple interior screens were broken *The propane was either disconnected or the main tank emptied as the fireplace didn’t work. *Upon arrival, there were construction materials littered throughout the kitchen from what appeared to be a new stove/oven installation. *Multiple lights were burnt out *The deck door closest to the dining room table had a broken latch that prevented it from working *Many places on the exterior had the siding coming off, and weathered plywood was visible *The book said that garbage cans would be at the end of the driveway, but none were. Instead of risking animals tearing through the garbage, we left it in the play room, again creating a smelly situation with used baby diapers. *Whoever installed the new decking last year, chose to throw all of the plastic decking scraps in the lake instead of disposing them, littering all of the rocks with trimmed pieces. *The house was dirty with dusty surfaces, cobwebs and more From the master bedroom, there was a sound of running water all day and night…possibly why the water was shut off in the first place. *Half of the house's power outlets did not work. We ended up charging our phones by plugging into the TV, VCR, DVD and Xbox.
I requested to have one night to be comped given the long list of issues. Instead, was only credited back $100. A formal complaint was...

A reasonable answer would be to contact the guests closest to where the car is parked to find out whose car it is and warn them that their parking pass is not displayed.
Spending ten seconds on the phone with some guests to find the owner of the car is vastly better than towing a paying guest's car for a tiny mistake.
Anyone with a few brain cells would know that a resort guest is not going to their car every day to check it and will not see the notices placed on their windshield.
Going to the grocery store and taking the parking pass off to drive and then forgetting to put it back on is not a legitimate reason to tow someone's car.
If these people had any clue how to run a resort they would contact the guests to find out whose car it is rather than towing a paying guest's car. What a ridiculous way to run a business. I would never even remotely consider paying for a room in this resort after this.
This is one of the most absurd business practices I have ever come across in my entire life.
It is clear that the staff of this resort are completely ignorant to any form of sensible behavior in running...
