I’m not sure how many stars to even give but I’m just going to be honest so everyone else will know before they book here. First off, I called to say that we were going to be a little later checking in and was told no problem, upon arrival the office was empty and no one was to be found. We finally found a copy of a receipt taped to the door, no map, no instructions with information or anything. Basically we were on our own! The site was pull thru like we paid for but it was so un level the picnic table was useless, we had the hardest time getting our camper set up and level. The photos online are completely photoshopped and not accurate at all! I believe that the only thing from the website that is accurate is the paved roads, if they had a game room it was in fact never open and the bathrooms were bad and so hot, the dumpster was so full people were just throwing their trash on the ground around the dumpster. The worst of it was the sewer it smells through the whole park and the gnats were awful especially at the “dog park” where there is a whole septic tank just sitting beside the fence, the sewer issue is so bad one day we came in from being out most of the day and our whole camper smelled of sewage. Most sites were homesteaders and not very well maintained. It was a plus that they had a pool but it wasn’t in the best condition and had broken chairs and tables and pool floats just left anywhere and everywhere. The dog park gate is pretty much nonexistent it is literally held together by poop bags and has no hinges or latches. Not sure if it was a good or bad thing but every night police would make rounds through the park between 12 - 1 am with spotlights on. We went to connect to the WiFi and I believe it was about $10 extra a day, I used my wireless hotspot instead. There are 2 things I will say that we were pleased with and that was that the park was quiet and the people were friendly! I’m not trying to bash the place, I just wished I would have seen the reviews before we chose to stay here, so I wanted to hopefully save someone else from making the same mistake because I definitely would not choose it again!

DO NOT RECOMMEND, read on for the many reasons why... Where do I start? First, they moved us from our requested sure with no notice then tried to charge us extra because the new site was supposed to cost more. The lady who checked us in was friendly. The sites were marked unclearly with some being too small for more than a 4p tent with no space to move around outside it and others having giant holes and electric poles in the middle of then. The site we were reassigned to, #20 had exposed wires and no water at the hookups, #19 had only a large plug for an RV, so we ended up on #18 which had no fire pit or picnic table. Amenities: There are two small bathroom/shower houses. The one closest to the tent camping was "closed for the winter" when we were there on Labor Day weekend which is just ludicrous! The swimming pool, which is listed as an amenity on the website, was locked and they were charging $7 per person to use it. The playground was old and decaying. There was no lighting around any of the community "amenities". The showers were filthy in the only men's bathroom since they weren't being cleaned. General: Also, there was limited parking everywhere with people driving too quickly on the one-way roads inches from our tents. There was a permanent trailer park/neighborhood sort of in the middle of the campground and the police showed up to find one of the residents while we were there. There was apparently a flea problem in our original campsite and a yellow jacket nest in the railroad ties marking the edge of the site we ended up in.

Loved the pool. That's pretty much all there was to do. Said gaming room but I never seen one. I definitely do not want to go back. The staff is rude and two faced. They were nice while we was there staying but as soon as we left and started asking about our deposit they instantly became rude with me and my husband, sometimes not even replying back or answering the phone. Changing my 5 star review to a 3 star and here's why.... The campground took a $100 deposit and has yet to give it back and we're going on day 7 or 8 since check out. They won't answer texts and for some reason I can't even contact them on booking, com where I made the reservations as if they blocked me. So now my bank is trying to get my deposit back for me. This is crazy and very unprofessional! Oh and our last night there two women were in the pool having sex and they were not trying to be quiet or discreet. I heard them inside my cabin. Idk if it was another guest or just someone coming in to have sex in the pool and leave. There's no gate as it said on booking.com . Never actually saw 1 worker/owner our entire trip. Wifi sucked. At least our TV worked but only had about 10-12 channels.

Where to start. We have a 40 foot coach and was promised level sites, easy access to walk our very old dog. This was not what we arrived to. The road going in didn't have proper clearance for a large coach and when we arrived Our site number was changed to a site that was very unlevel. If you know anything about a large coach they have slides our coach was equipped with four slides. This site was unable to accommodate the coach without the slides out. We had an immediate drop-off from our steps that our dog couldn't even get out of the bus. While going back to the office as my husband was pulling carefully out of the site with another drop off at the end of what is supposed to be a pull thru, we met a man and he got another man. They were both quite nice and understood our dilemma. I asked for a refund and the older man identified as the owner said yes ma'am. Here is the office lady coming now. She was in a nice way SOMETHING ELSE! Her language and profanity was over the top and she said there was no way in HELL I was getting my money back. Instead of engaging with this woman any further (as with someone like that it's just better to walk away and we left. I have emailed and asked for a refund as we didn't stay. We moved down the road a little further and found a very nice level campground that our old great dane was able to get out of the bus and finally go potty after the long ride up. While this campground would be acceptable for a pop up camper it was not acceptable for a $300,000.00 four slide coach! I will keep you posted if we get the refund. They have 10 days according to my credit card company. If I do not get the refund I will be filing a complete dispute outlining everything in the 15 minutes we were there.||||Here is the response I received: hey Beth this is Cindy I have no problem giving you a refund and we had discussed the situation before you came in and you could’ve canceled but you came anyway and I’m giving you a refund but let me tell you I don’t appreciate how you treat my help do you know how hard it is to find people to work and you berated her and you were irate and yelling and screaming in her face that was uncalled for and I do think that you owe Marie an apology so I would like for you to call her or send her a letter of apology because that was uncalled for I know you were upset but you don’t take it out of my help you can take it out on me if I’ll take it which I won’t but that was totally totally uncalled for and you need to make restitution towards it because I don’t wanna lose my help because of customers like you||||Here is where the lie begins: First off I have inflammation on my vocal chords, of which I have been under doctors care since July 3rd. I barely have a voice let alone be able to scream. Marie is nothing but a drama queen making it out to be that I am a nightmare when this is completely untrue. By 4pm I literally have no voice. There is no way I can scream or yell as she stated. BEWARE of this campground. It’s absolutely the bottom of the barrel and with this new response leads me to believe that the owners are in the same...

Under no circumstances should you consider staying at Fort Wilderness. The pictures are absolutely misleading. We made the mistake of not reading the reviews prior to booking our stay at Fort Wilderness. We reserved a pull through site for Thursday 7/18/24 and we were scheduled to leave on Monday 7/22/24. The four pull through sites were paved however the pull through sites are very short and are not even close to being level. We chose the most level site of the four. We set up including leveling, opening the slide, connecting the water and electric. Only to find that the 30 amp breaker had failed and management had not bothered to replace the defective breaker. This happened just prior to the office closing for the day. The woman at the office suggested that we either use the 50 amp circuit and use an adapter down to 30 amp or run our power cord to the adjacent site to be able to get power. We chose to run the cord with a surge protector to the adjacent site. The third issue was we paid the additional $2.50 per night charge for cable and it didn’t work. The cable issue was discovered after the office was closed. The fourth issue was no water pressure with a considerable amount of air in the water supply line. This caused pressure surges in our water hose thank goodness for our pressure regulator. Once we realized that the water pressure issue was not going to be resolved we checked out the bath house. The bath house was dark and dirty. It appeared that they were not regularly cleaned. The floor was dirty as was the sink. The shower stalls were also dirty. To overcome the water pressure issue I filled my fresh water tank and used the on board system to supply a steady flow of water. This all took place on Thursday of course after the office was closed. Friday there was no one at the office when we checked after 10:00 am prior to leaving for activities. . The office has very limited hours 10:00 AM till 4:00 PM. Again on Saturday there was no one at the office. We were in town to ride the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad on Saturday evening. My wife and I decided not to stay until Monday. We left Sunday morning without requesting a refund for the inoperable cable or for Sunday night. Do yourself a favor and don’t stay at Fort Wilderness. We have been RVing for thirty years and have camped in all 26 states east of the Mississippi. Fort Wilderness makes the top 6 of the worst places we have stayed at. Everything from electric, water, cable and the bath house are sub par. Even the dumpster was not located in the area that was designated on the map. When we found it, it was full and overflowing with trash. Fort Wilderness is by far one of the worst managed campgrounds we have run across. Do not waste your hard earned money...

I never feel the need to give a review when I have a bad experience with a business, but this place is just awful. My friend and I decided at the end of May that we wanted to go camping for the 4th of July weekend. We both had a long weekend off work and just wanted to get away to relax. Of course it was a bit difficult to find a place considering it was for a holiday weekend, but we found this place and booked the first week of June. Fast forward to the 4th of July and we get to this place right at check-in time. First of all, the pictures are extremely misleading. We had both look very throughly at the website before booking and thought it looked like a nice campground. We couldn’t have been any more wrong. The place is a dump and the cabin we had booked looked awful in person. Well we tried not to let that bother us and went ahead to the office to check-in. There was a “closed” sign on the door and all the lights were off. Luckily the cleaning lady was right there and asked us if we needed help. We told her we needed to check-in so she let us in the office and come to find out, the cabin we had booked wasn’t available. They had double booked us. So she called the owner to see what could be done and the owner wanted to put us in a beat up RV that had a busted out window! We asked the cleaning lady if we could go back to my car and discuss what to do and she said of course and if we needed a refund to call the owner. So we sat in my car for the next hour trying to find another place to go because there was no way we were staying there. Thankfully we were about to find a place almost an hour away that had a last minute cancellation. We start to head that way and call the owner to get our refund. She was extremely rude to us and said that she had offered us something to else (the RV with the busted out window) and that we were choosing not to stay so she was going to have to charge us a 30% cancellation fee. We told her no way because it wasn’t our fault they screwed up. She told us to go to the office and they could give us our refund there. So we turn around and go back to the office and the lady in the office (who is a completely different lady from the cleaning lady) told us that we had to call the owner. We told her that the owner had sent us here. She acted like she didn’t want to believe us and we sat there arguing with her about it for 20 minutes before she finally gave us the refund. Then later that night the owner called me and tried to tell me that the card I gave to put the refund on was not the same card I used to make the reservation whenever I literally have the confirmation email to prove that it is. Overall, this place is extremely inconsiderate and...
