Mountaineer Motel — Hotel in Cherokee

This is just a quaint little place. It's off the highway. There is a outside pool however it is not available to use but if you are just needing a quiet, peaceful place to rest, & lay your head down check them out. The backside has a beautiful view of the mountains, the owners are down to earth, very helpful, & friendly. Call if there is no one in the office & they will be there in a flash to help you. It's not a casino suite but for under $100 a night (that was last weekends price - may charge different depending on when visiting ) but we have stayed there many times and it's never been more than that. Clean sheets, clean rooms, cable tv, small fridge, hot water, & clean bathroom. For the price you can't go wrong! What you save from staying here versus anywhere else that we have checked on , or stayed at you will have extra $$ to hit the casino, shop the shops, feed the bears, do some fishing, interact with the Indians, or just relax.... I was at Mountaineer again this last week. First I would like to apologize to the visitor that had a problem with being locked out. Not sure how that happened, but I feel their frustration. I must say that there may be problems along the way with almost any stay when you are away from home, but I am sure the management is sorry it happened. It is a small motel and usually booked up. I like that they keep their rates low. I would like to see some of the rooms upgraded a bit, but for the 1 or 2 nights I am there, I can live with outdated furniture. I usually am at the casino anyway. I love the rockers on the porch and in the spring love to sit out and enjoy the weather. So give it a try if you appreciate saving your money for other attractions...

I have been to Cherokee NC many times. I have stayed at the Mountaineer several times. I belong to Harrahs club, but because I am not by any means a high roller or even a platinum card holder, where we use to be able to get comps from Harrahs, it is next to impossible to get comps. now. So I still like Harrahs and go, I have to scout out my hotel myself. Russell who owns the mountaineer, is very nice, and always provides a clean room,wi-fi,tv etc., he is always constant on his prices, and one of the cheapest rates we have found in that area.
