My husband and I stayed at Cherry Mills Lodge in Dushore for our wedding anniversary this December. We had the best time!! The Lodge is beautiful (especially when we went and all the christmas decorations were up!) We stayed in room A and it was impeccably clean. We had a wood burning fireplace with a duraflame log provided. We were a little disappointed with that since it only burned 4 hours and didn't give off that much heat-- we had thought we would have real wood. But that wasn't a huge deal to us. Either way it made the atmosphere in our room wonderful! The bed was extremely comfortable, and clean once again. Room A was very spacious, with a seating area, fireplace, large queen bed and then a little hallway off of that space where the bathroom was as well as another little bedroom with a twin bed. It was only the two of us, but three people would have had no problem in the space. We got there about 6 pm and it was a gorgeous drive through the mountains. There was a lot of snow on the ground, and the lodge sits down in a gully/valley type area but it had been cleared extremely well and we had no issues though the road is steep going down and coming back out. The innkeepers were not there to greet us when we arrived-- we figured they had already gone to bed or were with their family but we were greeted with a note about where our room was. It was not hard to find and we actually enjoyed the privacy of not being met at the door. The common area downstairs is just beautiful! They also have a HUGE selection of board games that we were able to use. Later that evening we got hungry and drove into the little town of Dushore which is adorable in my opinion and even though it's small, many restaurants are open late in case you get hungry. It is only 3 miles from the lodge and easy to find and navigate through. Breakfast the next morning was from 8-9:30 and it was delicious! They have a menu that you choose from once you come downstairs. We got fruit and half a muffin each (standard) then ordered our breakfast and we each had the chocolate pancakes with maple syrup. It was great and the portions were huge! You won't go away hungry. All in all my husband and I had a wonderful time at Cherry Mills Lodge and would highly recommend it!! Especially around...
Read moreThis B&B is so well maintained and the rooms are very comfortable. We stayed in room 'A' which has two separate rooms with a sliding barn door to separate them. The living room has a fireplace and sitting area that overlooks the creek. The grounds are also very well maintained with some swings, sitting benches and an outdoor firepit. The breakfast was very tasty and filling with a warm egg item (we had a croissant one day and egg and bacon cup the next), with juice, baked bread, trailmix, granola and similar items delivered daily outside our room. Keurig is in your room with plenty of coffee. The only thing I would point out is that there is no TV in your room or in the common areas of the lodge. It didn't matter to us so much because it was just peaceful to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature all around. The free wifi however would make up for this if you wanted to connect with news, or possibly stream shows. I would also agree with Jeremy D who posted that the owners were not particularly outgoing. They did not make an attempt to converse with us during our stay there. We did have to ask them for a log for the room because it was not automatically provided and they did tell us how/where to get more coffee...
Read moreMy two parents and I chose this B&B having never been here before because it looked cute. I am so glad we got the chance to stay there for 3 nights! This place will blow your mind. The rooms are so tastefully decorated; the atmosphere is welcoming and peaceful; Brenda & Mike are a delight to talk with; the two outdoor cats, Gizmo and PJ, are the friendliest cats; the place smells like pine and spices (so warm and cozy); the views are to-die-for; and the warm breakfast baskets were lovely! Would 100000% recommend for couple-getaways or family vacations! My mom said she wants to retire and move to this B&B for the rest of her life đ. The only down side is that it's ~30 a min drive from hikes and many restaurants but the drives are so scenic/gorgeous that it wasn't a deal breaker for my family. Also, you can't really expect a much shorter drive between places if you're choosing a B&B that's nested in the mountains.
In terms of fun adventures, would recommend the Glen Ricketts hike and the Loyalsock Canyon Vista! Eagle's Mere downtown was...
