We've camped across the USA, and this one is an interesting mix of haves & have nots. It is a county level campground. The sites are catered to RVs more than tents. Gravel, minimal grass, a table, sand, and beach front that's a bit murky and not enticing for swimming. It is kept clean, and a sheriff's vehicle or two are often around.
What it has is a dark enough sky for enjoying your billion star hotel -- the tent. Or just lay there in the sand looking up at the vast universe.
It has reasonably calm water and a very good place to go paddle if you have a kayak or canoe. You can also rent one there. Be careful as the wind & tides can change quickly and you may end up too far from shore in a short time. Wear a life jacket, bring a whistle,a light, phone in a bag that floats, and perhaps a marine radio.
What it doesn't have or lack are trees & shades for tent camping, hammocks, etc. The sites are also a bit close together; so if your neighbor turns on the radio or TV too high, or just enjoy their light display so much, you're not camping anymore. City life comes chasing you by your ears and eyes.
The swim area is about the size of an Olympic pool netted off to keep jellyfish & other creatures out, but seagulls just invade the sand beach & make a mess; so pretty unattractive for a swim there. The bathhouse has outside shower heads, which are helpful.
The staff inside the office only put masks on for customers. This means potential indoor air contamination in that office. They take their masks off in there, and when they go out, they don't seem to take masks seriously enough either. The teens who drive around picking up things just openly talk & laugh maskless. This sets bad examples for campers. Many people act because they see others do. Our camping neighbors both husband and wife cough & sneeze all the time but they don't put on masks. Perhaps they think they're more than 6ft away. Well, it's known that 6ft is not enough, especially for a sneeze or cough, more like 20 ft. We had to consciously stay away from their sneezing & coughing, and that's not helpful for enjoyment nor relaxation
The location of this park has lots of potential. I hope the people in charge realize that and make it an irresistible place for camping. For now, we won't come back for camping nor boating. Better options are...
Read moreVery disappointed. They had all the signs around jelly fish warnings but we did not see them. At the entrance they charged $25 per person no matter how short or long you stay as long as you are out of the county. Then we sat down and openned out umbrellas and there were no cabin showers or the expected facilities for this amount of money paid (we were 20 people). The water was murky and looked like there were plenty of jelly fish. There was a protected area with a net but it was shallow, murky and of little kids where by swimmer cant really go anywhere. We tried to get a refund but relized all the warning signs and the no refund policy. So we were basically at loss. Also too many staff (4) directing cars to where to park which I am assuming the money goes to their pockets although there were basically no more than 35 cars!
So we are very upset and would not recommend this beach to anyone. We even heard other couples complaining. I think the only people enjoying this beach is the residence beach association down the road as they made it difficult for the public to use and earn money behind it. Where is the county from this scam!
The staff had a wicked attitude and closed the bathroom at 7:15 without prior notice. 7:30 The staff threatened to intimidate us as much as possible. If you don't leave within 10 minutes, it is trespassing. Each of us will go to jail. I will never go to this beach again and strongly advise the public to...

“GET OUT!” We arrived around 5pm and the sherif kicked everyone out aggressively at 8pm. When you arrive they need to say that you have to be out of the park by 8pm. This was our first time and all signs said the park closed at dusk, which is 8:30pm. From the car the sherif began announcing that the park would be closing. Initially we could not hear the entire message. At 7pm, a park employee walked around and said that that park would be closing soon. She was very pleasant, but she did not make it clear that we needed to be on the other side of the gate by 8pm. At 7:30 we started to pack up and at this point the sherif becomes very aggressive. From the parking lot he can see the beach and is yelling through the speaker that people need to start taking their umbrellas down now and be putting their things into the car. At this point almost all families are either gone or in the process of leaving, but this was not happening fast enough for the sherif because, through his speaker, he is telling people that are talking to get to their cars and telling families that are packing that they need to be gone. He pulled up and watched my family pack for a few minutes, and his demeanor and expression was borderline threatening. We have visited several beaches in MD and along the coast and we will...
