My boyfriend and I stayed here back in June while we were in town for a nearby annual event we attend. In our search for hotels we stumbled across Heartland, and were immediately interested; the cabin suite, property, and animals all seemed so charming. And they were! Our stay here was perfect, and I can't imagine staying anywhere else when we're in town again next year.
We stayed in the Harmony Suite, and it was super neat, clean, spacious, and included everything we needed for our stay. Not to mention the hospitality! Jim and Laurie really did go above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They were also available to answer any questions, and we got to chat on a few occasions while visiting with the animals.
Which was one of my favorite parts about staying here: the animals! They're all super friendly and have their own personalities, especially Boomer and Blue. If Boomer had it his way, we'd be throwing his ball for him all day. We even got a visit from a friendly cat while out on the porch enjoying the fresh air, and he jumped right into our laps, purring as loud as can be.
Next year, I definitely want to book a few extra days before or after our event so that I can really enjoy the property itself and spend a bit more time with the animals. I'm so used to staying at a hotel where you're really there just to sleep at night, and didn't realize how much of a nice, relaxing experience this place would be in comparison. I actually wanted to spend more time in the room or out on the porch- not leave it every morning to head to the event.
This resort really is a hidden gem, and we were so lucky to find out about it and get the chance to stay here during our event. We're already excited for our next stay, and would recommend Heartland to anyone who has business/an event in the area, or even someone who just wants to have a relaxing vacation away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The only thing we'd do differently next time is book some additional days, and try the full country...

Okay... found this suite on a third party website. Before booking anything I decided to read some of the Google reviews. Decided, after reading said reviews, to book the suite and couldn't be more pleased with our stay.
To address some of the complaints... if the 'beds are to soft'... there may be some underlying issues you should address before posting a negative review. The beds were perfect. As of the 'it's to quiet' review... again... what exactly were you expecting getting a cabin in the middle of nowhere farm country? If you wanted some 'background noise' I'm sure there is somewhere in Franklin County that has a nice symphony of gun shots and loud music that could suite your needs.
All of that aside, these people are wonderful. It's hard to express how wonderful they are but to say the least... we need more people like them in the world (Jim and Laurie Mooney). Every question we had was immediately answered. Every concern we had was immediately addressed. Basically, they went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect... and it was.
The animals are beyond words. Jim and Laurie can help you if you're not confident with farm animals and if you are, they will leave you to your own and be standing by if you need anything or have any issues. I'd say the animals steal the show... but that would be an insult to the care and compassion that Jim and Laurie offer to every guest that stays there.
Long story short (not to short obviously), the suite is exactly as described. The 'hosts' (i.e. Jim and Laurie) could not be more accommodating, available, and loving. The property is gorgeous and exactly what someone looking for a quiet weekend would expect. The farm animals are absolutely perfect and having Jim and Laurie help us navigate everything is invaluable.
It is money well spent and you will disappointed if you pass up on the opportunity to spend time at this amazing bed and...
Read moreNestled between Mansfield and Columbus. A lovely, relaxing place to regroup, retreat or gather for party. We just needed place to get together with family. Super clean and spacious, we were able to stretch out yet be together. We brought fish gear and tried the fishing with grands in the little farm pond. Petted the critters and enjoyed the rolling countryside. We stayed in the Lodge. It was beautiful but because of the stairs, next time we will probably go for one of the suites. Did enjoy the feel of beds upstairs together. Reminded me of a family cabin when a kid...but exceptionally soft and cushy beds. Very nicely decorated. What can we say about the critters. They were cool! Well...exception... not a piggie fan. We had to talk to the grands about not running around the creatures, but the owners were very kind at showing the kids their animal friends. Very unique place to stay. Would recommend highly with 2 caveats: slow intro to critters. Older folks may need to discuss with owners any downstairs night accommodations available to be close to "facilities" and not have to negotiate stairs. Otherwise luxurious relaxing time in country. Kitchen is well-designed and equipped for big groups or just a family group, like ours. Very convenient to main highway so that mommies and daddies can make a short break-away and leave kiddies with gramma and gramps. Thank you...
