My husband and I had a wonderful weekend getaway staying at Crow bed and breakfast! ||||The farmhouse is very quaint and the inhabitants very welcoming. Upon arrival we were greeted by Judy Crow, our host, her farm Labrador, Myrtle, and Curious, one of her house cats. We dropped our things off in our room and immediately walked over to the wine tasting room (a couple hundred feet away from the main house). The staff were very nice and let us stay past closing time while we finished our tastings. The wines were delicious and we made sure that each night we bought a bottle back to have in our room later. They also sell beef from their cows and farm-fresh eggs in the tasting room. You are welcome to walk around and visit the cows (there was a week old calf the weekend we stayed), the chickens, and miniature ponies.||||We stayed in the Barn View Room, which although the smallest of the four rooms, was quite spacious. The room and bathroom (with tub) was very clean and provided all the amenities that you would expect (i.e., TV, WiFi, Hairdryer, bottled water, etc.) The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable which in combination with the quiet of the farm made for sound sleeping. ||||Coffee and teas are set out in the morning starting at 7:00 am. If you go down early, before breakfast, you will find Curious waiting in the sun room for stroking. She took to my husband and settled herself on his lap each morning while he had his coffee. A sit-down farm-to-table breakfast is provided in the downstairs dining area starting at 8:30 am. Judy is a wonderful cook and breakfast was delicious! On our first morning we had yogurt and kiwi, berry smoothie, mini blueberry muffins, sauteed sweet potato; and a vegetable, ham, and cheese omelet. The second day's breakfast was a banana smoothie, a warm fruit and granola compote, medium-rare flank steak (from her cattle), a rosemary and root vegetable hash; and a tomato, feta, and vegetable frittata. We left stuffed! After Breakfast, Myrtle typically came around to beg for head and belly scratches!||||Judy is a wealth of information about the surrounding community both in terms of activities and options for dinner. We walked around the small town of Chestertown during the day which is composed of art galleries, restaurants and coffee shops, boutique clothing stores, and a local distillery. On Saturdays there is a farmer's market in the center of town. You can also walk to the boat docks and on the weekend we stayed there were boat races. For dinner we visited a local Thai restaurant (Cafe Sado) and an excellent american restaurant (Barbara's on the Bay).||||If you want to venture slightly further afield, there are two other wineries approximately 30 minutes north of Crow Vineyards, a nano-brewery (Bull and Goat) about 20 minutes south, and Blackwater distillery approximately 45 minutes south. The vineyard is also close to the town of Chesapeake, although we did not make it there. ||||Overall, we had a very enjoyable time and are already planning...
Read moreMy wife and I have twice visited the Crow Vineyard while traveling the "scenic route" from NY or PA back to Southern Maryland. This visit we thought we'd give their B&B a try. Glad we did! |The B&B consists of three upstairs rooms in an old farm house. Each has its own bathroom. Two have the bathrooms "in suite" and the "Pasture" room has its bathroom across the hall. |The farm house and rooms were very clean and beautifully decorated with antiques and many nice touches. We stayed in the Pasture room. It's a large room, has ample seating and storage space, and a comfortable queen sized bed. It has windows the overlook a pasture. In addition to being having a winery onsite, it is also a working farm with cattle. |We arrived around two in the afternoon on a Saturday. Judy Crow (Roy and Judy Crow are the owners) met us at the Farm House/B&B and led us to our room. After getting situated, walked the short distance (100 yards or so) to the winery. They have really great wines. My wife and I are wine lovers and know good from bad. Theirs are very good.|The farm is in a very rural area so if you plan on having some wine, there's not anywhere particularly close (minutes) to go eat so you probably want to bring something with you for dinner. (There are the towns of Galena and Chestertown that have restaurants with Chestertown being the bigger of the two.) The winery has very good winery fare but not meals. You can consume anything you brought with you back at the Farm House either at the dining table (where the breakfast is served) or in your room. Probably outside in warm weather. The winery, like most, asks guests not to bring outside food/coolers.|Had a quiet and comfortable night. No problem with the bath being across the hall from the Pasture Room. It was large and well-appointed. Even had a claw foot tub. There was a shower as well. |The breakfast was nice. Judy puts out coffee in the dining room around 7:00 in the morning and then serves breakfast at 8:30. Quiche, sausage, muffins, and a dish with yogurt, fruit and musili. There was one other couple staying and it was nice having a "family style" breakfast with them. |Before leaving, we bought some of their farm-raised beef. Reasonably priced for the quality of the beef.|I understand there is a pool onsite for use of the guests when the weather is warm.|I highly recommend a stay at the Crow Farmstay B&B. Nice getaway. Great winery. Very...
Read moreBad experience. Follow up (edited) left my previous review intact. While I love this winery my latest experience was seriously lacking. The winery is still beautiful and the wines are nice. But, my experience today wasn't so hot and made for a bad experience. Empty, no one here, 50 Empty tables. Waiter said sit where you would like. We chose a nice table against the vineyard and we're the only ones there. As we sat down a lady named Judy stopped us and told us to sit somewhere else in case someone else needed a larger table. Again...50 tables and we are the only ones there. Rude and unprofessional.. ruined the experience and day. Then got $20 charcuterie board. 8 crackers, 9 peices of cheese...very small and overpriced...in the end...disappointed as a previous fan probably won't be back....previous review: .Stopped by on a whim. I never expect much from east coast wineries (other then some great ones in finger lakes and virginia). (I own a winery and have made for over 25 years) Crow surprised! When drinking their reserve red I swore it was from California but then tasted the subtle nuances of east coast grapes and knew it was the real deal. Very well done. Their rose' and chardonnay were also very well done. I'd say the best winery in all of MD, NJ, PA, DE. Scenery is beautiful, staff was amazing, their dog is awesome. You can even get their farm raised beef. Their food is good but very limited. Sloppy Joe's and egg salad were great. Would love to see a few more food options, thats really their only achilles heel. Perhaps cheesesteaks or tacos with their farm fresh beef...or...
